Comfortable bed and bedrooms with good heating. Lively evening bar with good service. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean facilities. Excellent location next to long beach. Very good value for money. Breakfast was basic and a bit uninspired (no museli option, oranges only fruit offered, no sodabread, bacon oversold as 'thick', tomatoes undercooked, no flavouring in the mushrooms, scrambled egg grainy and lacking any real taste). A bit of imagination in the kitchen could bring the breakfast up a notch fairly cheaply. Nice to have the pastry and yogurt option.

We had nice comfortable room 201, with double and single beds, also sea view! Heating did not work the first night very well but the staff tried to help. Next days were fine. Breakfast was very good and well served and not expensive - 13.50€ for non residents. The hotel bar is comfortable for drink before bedtime. The best thing about this hotel - definitely the staff - pleasant, interactive and customer focused!

While this hotel looks rundown on the outside and could do with a bit of TLC in lots of places, we had a lovely stay. Room lovely and quiet. Beds comfy, food fab and its perfectly located on the beach. Staff very friendly. Would go back anytime.

Not overly modern but real comfortable and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Beautiful views and a lovely little bar we had a great night in. Food is top notch. Honestly have nothing bad to say at all. Thanks for a great mini break away.

The food was overpriced extremely small portions we were still staving after the food ended up getting a take after .the staff in the restaurant wasn't nice at all .we went for my fella birthday wish I had of booked somewhere eles I would not advise anyone to go here to stay and eat second time this happened won't be booking ever again

We stayed here a few times basic rooms but clean and tidy.friendly staff. We came across a few hairs in our breakfast witch was very off putting when I brought it to servers attention she just said she would let the chef know.wasent really acceptable if I do say so we just didnt want any confrontation either after our night away. We had a lovely stay other than this and would return.

A slightly dated room but we had a nice sea view and the room was very clean and spacious enough. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fine although some may find the evening food and drink in the bar slightly limited in choice. I will definitely book again.

Lovely place to stay, receptionist was very friendly and helpful when we checked in. I had booked to stay a further 2 nights and she was very accommodating, saying we could stop in the same room. She was there the next morning and sorted it all out. Thankyou.

White Sands hotel is a great location for those who enjoy walks along the beautiful very long sandy beach of Portmarnock and also there is a lovely safe coastal walk to Malahide from White sands hotel Portmarnock. We found the staff most helpful and breakfast was very tasty.

Nice hotel, bit dated but perfectly adequate and clean. The location is great and the staff were very friendly. We were there on a Sunday so only the carvery dinner was on offer. Will go back again during the week to check out the bar food. We will be back for an other stay soon as well.

This Hotel offers exceptional value for money. This the second time we have stayed there and it's proximity to the airport is good when awaiting relatives to arrive. It is also handy for visiting the city via the Luas as carparking is available at the stations. We will certainly stay there again and again when the need arises.

We spent few days recently at this lovely hotel beautiful views great room on ground level ..No fridge in room no aircon as it was extremely warm ..Breakfast very good bar lovely little expensive but worth it for night or 2 as we travelled around we ate out 1 evenings .Public transport few steps away if was tour around Howth Malahide city centre . Hotel old needs little TLC otherwise its perfect for views especially. Reception staff might need little course in cluster service one ladies lvly friendly smiling other s not to much ..As we travel Lot definitely like see nice reception staff it's so important for hotel ...We had lvly stay definitely go back again ...

The hotel was centrally located & within walking distance to the beach. The Receptionist was very friendly & welcoming. The room was clean, but no netted blind & curtains were hanging from the railing, which wasn't a good 1st impression. Breakfast was lovely & the waiting staff were lovely & very attentive.

A lovely stay with a nice view,staff lovely..however the room was cosy but very dated,curtain hanging off the rail when we arrived but my partner fixed,Tables thick with dust and definitely not cleaned in a long time..No room service,It definitely a hotel that needs abit of Tlc as in a fab location and one of our favourite spots to walk.

This hotel has a lovely sea view, but the windows are small.I think it would benefit from balconies and sliding doors.The receptionist was very friendly and accommodating.Breakfast doesn't start until 8sm.She left sandwich ect for us .Why doesn't breakfast start at 7am like everywhere else?

Had a nice stay! Fantastic location right by the amazing beach in Portmarnock, but the hotel needs a major revamp but that’s reflected in the price! Had mentioned when booking that a sea view would be nice so it was lovely to get it????The toilet was a bit too close to the radiator, luckily it wasn’t on, it could have been nasty???? There was a carvery until 6.50 on Sunday, the restaurant was closed due to staffing issues, had stayed last year and it had been quite good so that was disappointing! Nevertheless had a lovely breakfast freshly cooked, so well done to the chef and served by two very pleasant and professional young waitresses! A good base and will probably return!

A lovely quaint family hotel in a superb location right across the road from portmarnock beach. A comfy atmosphere and friendly, pleasant staff. Breakfast was served quietly and with a smile ???? The bar has great character and atmosphere and we even got a sing song on one of the nights! ???????????? Loved it and a big thank you to Lorraine and all the helpful staff! ????????????????????????

We were informed on arrival that the hotel had no chef for the duration of our stay . We had to dine out each night which was inconvenient and expensive . The room was small and cramped due partly to heavy , dark , ancient and tired- looking furniture . The en suite bathroom was also cramped , so much so that the toilet was placed so close to the radiator that using it would be unpleasant , if not dangerous in winter when the radiator was on . Coffee and tea provided but paper cups !! Really ! Staff were pleasant and helpful .

This was our second time staying with White Sands. Fantastic location. Staff friendly & welcoming. Only one issue was with breakfast on the second morning. One breakfast to table…then ten mins before second plate delivered and another ten before third delivered. Fourth breakfast was even longer and other three were finished despite two plates returned to kitchen as bacon was not cooked. In the third morning wrong breakfast arrived at table. Asked staff member for milk but it never arrived. Noticed other guests having similar issues and like ourselves retrieved requested items from other tables. Despite all these minor issues, staff were all courteous & pleasant. So we will be back.

Lovely hotel excellent location beside the sea for a family holiday. Convenient location to Dublin, Malahide and other destinations. Only downside was the service at breakfast. Having to ask for items that should have been provided ie. Side plates, tea, no hot food order taken had to ask to order. However once highlighted to the waiting staff attention was paid to the table and our needs. Despite this, would return again due to pleasant hotel, lovely views and convenient location to sea and surrounding areas.

Staff were friendly.. Food served in the carvery was awful, waste of our money as we ate none of it.. had asked about just getting a sandwich, was told flat no.. would have been good to be told about the sandwich truck on the premises! We had to go into town to eat which was annoying as we had planned to stay at the hotel for the day.. The room was very small, bed not appropriate size for two adults.. Way too much dated & unnecessary furniture in the room, four lamps!! Bathroom functional but in need of a major overhaul.. Over all location was the positive….

Nice hotel with beautiful views over the coastline. Spacious well furnished room was very welcome. However disappointment of stay was what appeared to be rather disorganized breakfast arrangements and service, with items on the table menu already unavailable by 08-30 on both mornings.

Loved the proximity to the sea. Able to take walks on the beach at sunset and sunrise. Ladies on reception were so friendly and moved us to a seaview room on request without extra charge.

Overall a pleasant stay! Rooms basic but clean. Bathroom probably in need of an upgrade! Guests should be advised about the bag being left on your door in the morning with clean towels, toilet rolls etc. hadn’t experienced that before and thought the housekeeping staff were setting themselves up for when you went out, you need to take in the bag! Breakfast and evening meal, good! Friendly staff in bar and restaurant, some reception staff could do with a little more Umph!!! Fantastic location! Great value! Some people look for too many faults, but we would definitely come back!

Have stayed here a few times as love that the hotel is across from a lovely beach. The staff are friendly and I was given a room with a sea view as requested. The room was small and this was probably due to the furniture been too big for the room. I could not walk past the end of the bed to get to the window with having to turn sideways to get by. Breakfast was not great was waiting 35 min for our breakfast and it was not overly hit when we got it. I asked for toasted brown bread 3 times and never got it. I think they should block that you can hear into the kitchen as raided voices could be heard from the staff. It's a nice hotel if you want to be close to the sea.

Very nice hotel. Reasonably priced for an overnight stay included breakfast for 2. Breakfast was fabulous. Hotel is right across from the beach, so we were able to enjoy a lovely autumnal beach walk. Great music in the bar.

Lovely staff, really good breakfast and nice food in he bar. we had a nice big bedroom in the new section but it did smell that it hadnt been used or heated in a while apart from that everything was really good, was in another room in old part of hotel and lovely warm room . would stay again location and views are lovely from from of hotel, ask for a sea facing room, unfortunately mine wasn't.

Stayed here for two nights ,Hotel is in need of some TLC Eg new carpets but we had a lovely quiet room with Sea view and it had all the comforts we needed. We ate in the Hotel Restaurant on the first night which was very good .Hotel staff were very helpful and we would stay again .Good Dart links into Dublin centre

I booked this hotel for my son and his new wife. He was so disgusted with the run-down exterior of the hotel, the cramped bedroom that felt like a prison cell and the faded bed lined he refused to stay and cancelled the booking. Very disapointing. we found the hotel to be a very nice hotel but have one gripe. we booked a weekend stay in a double room to celebrate my 40th a have time away from the kids one of which still sleeps in our bed but when we checked in we did get a double room but 2 single beds pushed together with 2 single mattresses not attached so they kept seperating if we tried to cuddle even. not what we were expecting and genuinely the only problem we had. the staff were very pleasant and professional and the hotel itself was very clean. all in all a nice weekend apart from the bed situation

The hotel room was very modern, clean and tidy. I didn't like the fact that the meal which I thought was going to be in the hotel restaurant was in fact, similar to pub grub in their bar. Due to the lack of staff, it was approximately 30 minutes before we received the menus after being seated. The meal itself was average. Although the bar was by no means busy, approximately 20-30 patrons, it still took 5 minutes to be served by staff who couldn't care less. The fire alarm sounded twice during the night without reason or explanation. The breakfast the following morning was also average with a poor selection of cold meats and cheeses for a continental breakfast. Again, lack of staff. Two latex gloves covered two smoke detectors in the restaurant which sums up this hotel, nobody cares! I would never set foot in this hotel again after our experience here. What was supposed to be a romantic, relaxing break, especially for my wife, ended up being a nightmare. As hotel breaks go, it wasn't expensive but thats not the point, it still will take me sometime to pay it off my credit card. I couldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, thank you.

This was not my first time to stay in a hotel booked through lidl breaks and I do find them great value for money, unfortunately I didn’t feel the white sands hotel lived up to other hotels I have stayed in .When it came to ordering our meal for dinner (which was bar food) & again for breakfast, the service was extremely slow ( although the staff serving me seemed to be rushed off their feet!!). The dinner was mediocre and we had an extra charge for ordering the steak & Salmon for our main course which I don’t think was highlighted at the booking stage. The staff were nice , the room was just ok but the fire alarm sounding at 2am and again at 7am added to an already disappointing stay.

we enjoyed our two night stay in the white sands. It was clean comfortable and the reception staff were very friendly. breakfast was just o k. not great choice expecially the fresh fruit or lack of ;; bedrooms were very nice and very clean . Im sure this must be really beautiful in the summer with the beach just across the road with really nice walks.

The hotel is nothing like it looks in the pictures, although the staff were nice everything else failed to meet expectations. The room was average for a hotel of its rating but that could be forgiven. Dinner was in a bar beside a pool table with poor service. On asking the waitress for a glass of wine with dinner she asked me to go order at the bar. When the food arrived it was presented well but on further inspection it was raw red in the middle. We had the option of ordering another meal which too turned out to be under cooked. The rooms are not soundproof and after the nightclub was finished down stairs the party proceeded into the hallway until 6am. I must say the breakfast was nice with friendly service but a little to late to enjoy the experience.
