Reviews for `CROMLEACH LODGE & SPA`

My wife and I stayed for two nights and we loved the lodge hotel. We upgraded to a superior room on arrival and we had a beautiful view overlooking Lough Arrow and the valley beyond. The food was beautiful ,whether breakfast, bar-food or evening dinner. The staff were super friendly and the family feel was ever present for our 3 days there. The walks in the hilly ,historic countryside were beautiful with a descriptive guide outlining each one in your room.It is a tranquil and relaxing place and I certainly will visit the Cromleach Lodge again.

beautiful hotel in quite location. great breakfast .lovely selection. staff very friendly.

Enda scored 3 / 5 on 30/07/2014

A little disappointed, on arrival we were brought to our room by the friendly staff member. Nice comfortable room, although we were assigned a basement room with the car park at eye level. But ok! After the unpack, we wanted a shower to freshen up, the shower didn’t work, it had boiling hot water. Staff member eventually came to look, apparently it not the first time to happen. It couldn’t be fixed so we had to move to one of the older rooms in older part of the hotel. It was old and dated, and left us disappointed. On the positive Staff are nice and friendly, spa was nice, food was nice.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting, ideal for a "chill out " break. The food and service was excellent but unfortunately the room was a big let down as there was little daylight-- partly below ground level so had to use artificial lighting during daytime.

We had a really good two night break at Cromleach. The food was very special, a rare treat. Very friendly staff who looked after us well. Spotlessly clean throughout. The bedroom was big and had everything we needed - hairdryer iron etc. only fault would be that room decor was a little "cold". On the whole would really recommend it if you need a restful break in quiet breathtaking countryside. Can't wait to visit Ceomleach again.

The staff & food are excellent & cannot be faulted in any way. I worked as a hotel duty manager myself & it is very rare to not find something amiss with the service. The room was very large & the views are spectacular. I am only giving 3 stars as the room was very dated, blankets instead of duvets, tired furniture & very pink! Not what i was expecting from a 4 star establishment. I would visit again in a heartbeat if all the rooms were upgraded, which i believe is a work in progress.

This hotel exceeded all expectations. The room was spotless and very large, cleaned every morning and then again as part of the turn down service. The views were breath taking. The staff were very friendly.

Two ladies, hoping to get away for complete relaxation. Arrived around 2pm on Saturday, a little earlier than planned. Hotel staff at reception were exceptionally friendly and helpful and this set the tone for the whole weekend. Small personal touches and everything, no matter how simple, done really, really well from the red wine served at exactly the right temperature to the butter on the tables being perfectly spreadable on their delicious fresh bread. The beds were very comfortable and the temperature in the room was perfect (unusual for a hotel room!). The Spa was exceptional (we tried the seaweed baths which were great). Ciara looked after us to perfection. One remarkable thing was the feeling of quiet and calm everywhere despite the hotel and spa being fully booked. There was no sense of hassle or bustle, everyone had plenty of time to deal with you and you really felt your comfort was important and that nothing was any trouble to the staff. The dinner was pricey but the food was exceptional, and I am fairly hard to please! We will definitely be back - this break was great value.

Received a lovely warm welcome, checked into a beautiful room, very spacious, modern decor, nice big bathroom. Breakfast was very nice and relaxed. Overall we would recommend the hotel to others.

Had a beautiful stay, Cromleach lodge is beautiful, the staff were really friendly, we ate in the restuarant and could not fault it. It definetly deserves its 4 star rating, didn't get to use the spa this time but will be back to try it. Great value lidl's break offer.

To be honest we really couldn't fault it. Staff were superb, food was wonderful, setting stunning. The whole place was spotless, and the "hands on" approach of the owners was great to see, they obviously cared. A great little "find

My sister, her husband and I stayed in Cromlech Lodge for one night on 23/03/2013 and were very pleased with the hotel. The rooms were excellent and quiet, the breakfast was delicious and the service very good. We will definitely return for a longer visit and sample the spa. Well done Lidl Breaks for the exceptional value.

The hotel is very well maintained & the staff are the nicest people I have ever met! So so friendly & couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were very comfortable & spotlessly clean. We used the spa & outdoor hot tub which was fantastic. The views from the hotel are amazing. A great place if u want to relax and get away from it all (great couples retreat) the food & service 10/10. Cannot fault it at all - totally recommend!

We stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel was beautiful and location fab also and the staff were very nice and friendly. They couldn't do enough for us. They showed us to our rooms and all. They were amazing. Breakfast was lovely every morning and plenty to eat. We also ate there on one night as part of our package. It was a 2 course meal, the service I found was a small bit slow but the food was very nice. Our room was fabulous and had a lake view and very comfortable and modern and cosy. It had all the mod cons that you would need and the under ground heating I loved!! I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and will be back again soon.

Cait scored 5 / 5 on 12/09/2012

a real treat, most suitable for couples, in a quite rural location and the perfect get away. The hotel itself was lovely, staff most curtious and accommodating but best of all was the food. The meal was fantastic with little complimentary extras which made it all the more special can't wait to return again

Elaine scored 3 / 5 on 03/09/2012

The hotel was in the most beautiful setting with amazing views. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless. I have to say we did feel like we we were there on a discounted deal, as the room we received felt like it was down in a basement with a view of a wall, the hotel was far from full so thought they could have maybe put us somewhere a little nicer. The food was gorgeous but we were very limited to what we could have on the menu on the meal inclusive package, unlike other hotels we have stayed in with the same type of deal. We would recommend Cromleach lodge to others most certainly.

Regina scored 4 / 5 on 26/08/2012

we were very impressed with the cromleach lodge and spa. the staff from the moment of arrival to our departure were friendly and helpful. we had our grandkids with us and although there isnt any pool facilities we found the hotel was close to amenities within surrounding counties. the room was comfortable and so quite. hope to get back there again.

Travelled as a family (our children are 11 and 13). Staff were welcoming and family room was spacious with lovely views. You could hear a pin drop at night as opposed to the usual footsteps, doors slamming and late night loud conversations in most other hotels. Food quality was good though I'd prefer if everything wasn't drowned in a sauce especially at this time of year when fresh vegetables are so flavoursome. The menu was the same on both nights which would put me off staying more than 2 nights. The a la carte menu prices are expensive and do not reflect the current climate, however we all enjoyed our stay and returned home refreshed and relaxed.

family 2 x BB, 1 x D good points: 1. lovely setting 2. clean hotel 3. good food 4.nice near by walks. bad points: : 1. all tourist attractions are miles away 2. very long delays on evening meal 3. beverages are expensive 4. owners are biased towards couples only

Just returned from a weekend stay in this hotel with my husband, we had a very pleasant stay. The staff were very friendly and the food was very good, the hotel was spotless and the rooms were beautiful. The views from the hotel are stunning and we went on one of the historical walks that can be taken which was lovely, This hotel I would advise is more suitable getaway break for adults and not so for children. We found it a great hideaway destination and look forward to returning. Top rating. ann-marie

I stayed in this hotel last weekend with my mother and a niece and nephew and i really enjoyed it. Rooms were clean, staff were friendly and helpful. House keeping came in mornings to clean room and back in evening to check everything was okay. Breakfast in mornings were superb. I didnt use the spa on this particular weekend as we had the kids with us but i have no doubt that it would be first class. It was a very quiet and relaxing stay and would have no hesitation in returning. My only negative abut the hotel was that there was no swimming pool as the kids were eager to get and i found the food and drink a tad on the expensive side but it was lovely and very tasty.

Sinead scored 2 / 5 on 06/02/2012

Having heard many great reviews of this hotel i booked it as a surprise for my husband's birthday. There were good points and bad points: Bad - the hotel is very, very cold! Our room was the far side of a freezing cold corridor, up some stairs and then down some more stairs - it felt like we were being hidden away! We had a drink in the bar in the afternoon and were given a snack menu. When i tried to order a portion of chips to nibble on (dinner was a few hours away) i was told that there was no hot food allowed in the bar and we would have to move to the restaurant if we wanted chips. This would have been no issue had he told us this prior to giving us the menu! Later on i had to wear my jacket to get from the room to the restaurant, which i have never had to do in any hotel before. We had a lovely meal and then went to the bar for a drink. The bar was also freezing so we just went back to the room (which was warm). On the good points - the spa was beautiful and the lady at the reception there was super nice and helpful. We both had lovely massages and the biscuits afterwards were fab. Also our bed was very comfy (except there was a really bright green light right over the bed) and the breakfast the following morning was delicious. I really hate leaving a bad review, the staff were lovely and obviously try hard to put the personal touch on your stay but between dinner, spa treatments and b&b it was lot of money to spend on what was overall a very disappointing stay, especially when it was meant to be a real treat.

I bought this two night break as a present for my parents. They have just returned from a fabulous weekend stay there. They had never felt so pampered and relaxed, and highly recommend the sea weed bath and steam and sauna rooms. My parents were particularly impressed with the staff who were very attentive and made them feel like VIP's. Also there was plenty of choice at breakfast and the food was fresh and delicious, including the bar food. They would definitely recommend a stay at this lodge!

We spent 3 nights in Cromleach Lodge in October 2011. I just have to say what fantastic food and hospitality we were given during our stay. The staff are very friendly and professional. We would definitely go there again. The spa is pretty good, although not as large as I thought it might be (and no gym either), but it is nice and relaxing in the spa and we planned heading down there during the quieter times of the day. I have to say that this is the number one place I have stayed in Ireland in terms of food and hospitality! Cromleach Lodge and Spa is well worth the trip accross from Dublin! Cromleach Lodge & Spa comes highly recommended!

Pros: Staff were really nice. Food was lovely. Views are great. Room & bed was comfortable Cons: Built on a steep hill, walking isn't easy. Standard rooms are below ground level and are a little dark.

Just back from a lovely weekend at Cromleach Lodge. Beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Unfortunatlely weather wasn't the best, so we didn't get to go on any of the local walks. Travelled with two children and they were very child friendly. We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a Deluxe room, as there was a mix up with rooms, so had the beautiful views of Lough Arrow. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful break away!
