Sham scored 2 / 5 on 25/01/2016

staff on reception very unorganised, didn't greet us on arrival, made the situation tense, when checking out, both receptionist were on the phone, didn't apologies or greet us on departure, just left rooms key and went as had been standing waiting to be greeted for over 15 mins, the rooms were good but there was no towels on arrival had to call to reception to get towels brought up, breakfast was lovely but staff were a bit agitated towards the end of breakfast, i.e. asked for more orange juice, said breakfast was over, asked for water instead was given water from the tap. everything else was ok, good distance from 3 arena and hotel was warm and beds were comfy

Very friendly helpful staff in a nice welcoming environment. Room was top notch

Eamon scored 5 / 5 on 07/12/2015

Lovely hotel with a very relaxed atmosphere. Tastefully decorated for the Christmas period. Lovely room that has been recently decorated and a fantastic shower that was just needed after a long drive. My wife and I really enjoyed the bar food before a stroll to Sandymount village and then on to the 3 arena, all within walking distance. Breakfast in the morning was equally as good as the dinner the previous night. In a nut shell, great hotel for a break, game or concert in the big smoke. Will return very soon. Also free parking. Thank you all

The check in was friendly and efficent. The room was nice with all the amenities you could need .The hot breakfast was good and coeliacs well catered for. We also had bar food which was very tasty . Service was warm throughout our stay.

Very friendly staff, wonderful service, great location. Would have liked a more intimate setting for the hotel bar but that is the only thing I was disappointed by.

Bmac scored 4 / 5 on 19/05/2014

I give this hotel a rating of 4 stars because the staff are very nice and helpful, particularly Beatrice. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere. It is a bit sprawling, in that you might have to go for lift A or lift B and/or go up or down stairs and walk for a bit in order to get to your room, but the room we had was very nice, bed was comfortable and the shower was great - very powerful and plenty hot! Although you will most likely use taxis to and from city centre, it is not really that far and there is plenty of free parking in the hotel grounds. Sandymount village and Ballsbridge are very near too (short walk). I would stay here again.

We stayed there for one night's bed and breakfast at start of May 2014 and were very happy overall with the Hotel. The staff were friendly, efficient and courteous. Our room was lovely and homely. We enjoyed our breakfast where there was plenty of lovely cereals, fried food, juices and breads laid on. Also there is a lovely garden which we admired as we had our breakfast.

Aka scored 3 / 5 on 23/03/2014

Lovely little hotel in an ideal location but sadly on this occasion our stay was somewhat destroyed by the constant banging of doors from neighbouring rooms throughout the night which resulted in no sleep whatsoever. We also went for breakfast at 9.40 a.m and although breakfast is served till 10 a.m the staff were rushing away with the food to the kitchen e.g fruit bowl and cereals which made us feel that we had to hurry up and get out of there fast. On the whole.....we would have to say that our stay was way below par.....which is very unfortunate.

Visitor scored 2 / 5 on 10/03/2014

Arrived and parked my car with no problem. Got to reception and was treated very well and my room no given to me. Got to my room, very small, a little pokey and a nasty enough smell from the bathroom. The room itself was just ok, the bathroom had grout coming off the tiles and overall was tacky. I didn't eat in the hotel, so cannot comment on food or drinks. The hotel is in a good place, easy access to the city, Aviva Stadium and the RDS. It's a nice walk to the city centre but there are taxix and bus routes virtually outside the door. Everyone was friendly, but the hotel itself needs some make-up applied.

Stayed in twin room on sat 28/12/2013 - booked through Lidl breaks & got twin room with full breakfast for E78 - some E30 cheaper than other sites. Very good booking system get email & text confirmation immediately. The good points: convenient central location yet quiet residential street, ample free on-site parking, attractive historic georgian building, quick check-in & check-out, cosy bar & restaurant, pristine clean rooms, comfy beds, brilliant shower, ample hot water for bath, tasty cooked breakfast. The negative points: no radiator in bathroom so freezing cold. Entered room at 4.30pm radiator in bedroom turned off & bathroom window left open - turned radiator on but room took some time to warm up. TV stood on wardrobe shelf facing door, so could not watch from bed, only 1 chair in room. Overall: would recommend

Amarylis scored 4 / 5 on 20/12/2013

Stayed in the Sandymount hotel for 1 night. The room was ok, bed very comfortable. The staff was exceptionally friendly. We had dinner included in our deal so when we got to the bar , we were presented with a tasty looking menu. When the food arrived the portions were huge and we weren't able to eat everything. Food was excellent. We decided to skip the dessert but the waitress insisted that since it's been paid for we should get it.Then she offered to serve it later when we get back to the hotel after the concert we were going to. we had our dessert and some drinks in the bar afterwards and everyone was friendly. In the morning I met the Owner of the hotel at breakfast who was welcoming and chatting to all customers. Will recommend the hotel to everyone and definitely stay there again if in Dublin again.

Joekerry scored 4 / 5 on 17/12/2013

stayed here on a 3 night B&B + dinner and it was great, great hotel, great atmosphere and great value. Food here is top class and the staff were genuinly friendly. good location, aviva a min walk, close to the dart and about 20 mins walk to baggott st and 30 mins to grafton st. only area to improve on in my opinion was the water supply to the en suite. It seemed the cold supply was on a pump that seemed cyclic in pressure, so when you went under the shower, alternating hot and cold water arrived which tested your timing ability. hotel was lovely overall though. well worth staying. rugby match was on the weekend we were there and the hotel seemed to have everything organised so that there was very little interference with the guests and yet you could be part of the atmosphere if you wished. so overeall 8/10

Mo scored 5 / 5 on 09/10/2013

Stayed at the Sandymount Hotel on the night of the Ireland v Austria soccer match back in March so a bit late in writing a review! The hotel is ideally located near the Aviva Stadium so it was perfect for an overnight stay with my soccer mad son as we were going to the match for his birthday present. It was a cold night so it was great to be able to head straight back to the hotel for a nightcap after the match and not have to spend ages queuing for the DART. The following morning, we even got to take in a stadium tour of the Aviva before heading off to get the train home and the staff were kind enough to hold onto our bags after checkout while we took the tour. A nice bonus was that Kevin Kilbane was in the hotel dining room when we went down for breakfast so would have no hesitation in recommending the Sandymount Hotel.

Mbb scored 4 / 5 on 21/09/2013

Have stayed at Sandymount a few times and are always happy to go back. A very pleasant, well run hotel in a great location for The Aviva and for the city- either walking into town or on the DART train (stop is 3 mins from hotel). Will stay again

Fifi scored 5 / 5 on 04/08/2013

Our stay at the Sandymount hotel was a pleasent one. Upon arriving we were greeted by the owner himself which we both thought was a lovely personal touch to which is not experienced often. The hotel decor is modern and delightful and it is carried through into the bedrooms which are adequently furnished and spacious. We dined in the terrace bar/restaurant and really enjoyed our meal it was delicious and portion size was good the only flaw was that my prawns to the surf and turf were over cooked. The staff are extremely helpful and nice. The staff always ensured we had everything we needed. We ordered breakfast too the room and that too was lovely. There is allot to choose from. The only downside to the breakfast it mentioned homemade brown bread but when it arrived it was stoneground shop bought bread. Other than those minor and miniscule details we were very satisfied.

Niamh scored 4 / 5 on 03/07/2013

We stayed for one night in the Sandymount Hotel in June. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was fine, clean with nice decor. It overlooked the car park which wasn't great. I'm assuming because I booked under the Today FM breaks, as a deal, that we weren't given one of the better rooms. Otherwise, no complaints. Breakfast was good, the location great. It's very close to Landsdowne Road dart station. The bar was a little souless, not unusal for hotel bars I suppose. I'd definitely go back.

Kathryn scored 3 / 5 on 01/07/2013

Just back from 1 night B & B with Dinner stay at Sandymount Hotel as we were attending a show in the Olympia Theater. It's a great location with Landsdown Road Dart station just around the corner, and you pass Aviva Stadium to get to the hotel, it's in a lovely residential area. Free parking is always a great plus. Check in was easy, stayed in Executive room 406 which was really nice with dressing gowns, bottled water, tea/coffee, lovely toiletries, crisp white linen. I asked for a quiet room as I'm a very light sleeper, but unfortunately I could hear the person next door snoring, but that's just me, my other half heard nothing. Breakfast was the usual buffet style, with a nice selection. Evening meal was served in the bar, we had ceasar salad & fish chowder to start which was lovely, battered smoke fish for mains (didn't think it worked) and we were not told it was smoked fish. Deserts were lovely with chocolate muffin & ice cream a meal in its self. Service was very quick and pleasant staff. We will definitely stay again, and will definitely use Lidl breaks, it was so simple and easy to use and terrific value.

Pachego scored 5 / 5 on 19/06/2013

Myself and fiancée stayed her for a night for dinner, bed and breakfast. Because we're both vegan, we find it very difficult to get a decent meal when we stay in hotels. We couldn't have had a nicer stay anywhere. The hotel was lovely and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant and kitchen staff did a great job providing us with vegan meals. I would have absolutely no hesitation in staying here again.

Linda scored 5 / 5 on 21/04/2013

Excellent service in a lovely hotel.Full of character and old world charm.Situated in the best area of Dublin, with transport links to the city centre and surrounding countryside nearby. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance in Ballsbridge and Sandymount village.Free parking and Internet access was a huge advantage. Enjoyed the bar food in the hotel where the Seafood Chowder is highly recommended.Terraces and garden would be a lovely facility in Summer months. If you want a big, shiny, modern, impersonal hotel as can be found in every city from Berlin to Boston, the Sandymount hotel is not for you. If you want a genuine taste of Dublin in Victorian comfort and a peaceful environment, you could not make a better choice

Declan scored 3 / 5 on 19/04/2013

The hotel was comfortable, the insulation between the rooms was insufficient, I was woken when the people in the room overhead walked across the floor. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. Avoid the rooms on the ground floor if you are a light sleeper.

Second stay within a month, for business reasons. It's functional. Bedrooms are clean, but both bathrooms had faulty showers. You gat combined body & shower wash, not separate shampoo & shower gel. Food is adequate, but definitely not gourmet. Service is good and the staff are friendly, so for convenience, I will probably stay there again.

Helen scored 4 / 5 on 10/11/2011

Another very enjoyable stay in the Sandymount Hotel. Suffice to say, absolutely no complaints. However there was a little bit of confusion over the package we booked, & what it included. I would advise those booking to print off the exact entitlements attaching to their package & bring it with them.

This hotel is brilliant for it's location. It is peaceful at night and is so near the Dart station. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Breakfasts and evening meals really good. I have stayed in this hotel previously with my mother for a few days and this time I was in Dublin on business and on both occasions I couldn't fault this hotel and have recommended it to my family and friends.

The Sandymount Hotel is a wonderfull Hotel , in an ideal location 2 minutes walk from the Avila Stadium, and 5 minutes walk walk from the very nice village of Sandymount. Our room was large and comfortable. the staff were friendly and helpfull and made us feel very welcome. Really we this hotel is a gem ,and with easy acess with the Dart a couple of minutes walk away and Buses 5 minutes walk away, there is easy access to Dublin City. In the city can be reached by foot in half an hour. I certainly will be returning to the Sandymoint Hotel

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. We found all staff to be very helpful and courteous. The evening meal was very good. Our room was a bit dated and you could hear noise out on the corridor but I assume the older rooms will be refurbished in time. I would stay again and definitely think it was very good value for money and it's location very convenient for the Aviva (1 minute), O2 Arena (20 mins walk) and town (20 mins walk).

It is very conveniently situated to the Aviva Statium, Grafton St. and Canal Dock area with the Dart Station just around the corner. Having only stayed 1 night we didn't get to check the hotel out fully but from what we saw of the hotel it was excellent. Ideally located next to the DART it was easy to get into town and the buffet breakfast couldn't be faulted. Also free parking was a major plus. The deal we got with Lidl meant that we got the room and breakfast for the same price as if we got room only on the hotel website. Would definitely stay again!!

Mags scored 5 / 5 on 18/03/2011

We stayed one night at the hotel whilst going for dinner at a friends house so our stay in the hotel itself was brief. Staff were very friendly. The room was clean, beds comfortable and all facilities in the room like iron/ironing board, tea/coffee. The only downside was that our room was a bit on the small side (having 2 beds in it). The bathroom was clean, great power out of the shower but if you were looking for a luxurious dip in the bath, it certainly was made for somebody small. Breakfast was delicious, lots of choice. We stayed 12/01/11 - Mags

Martin scored 3 / 5 on 08/03/2011

I got a nice room, clean, with a traditional bath! (this is much better than some hotels, which only give you a shower now). I had a good nights sleep as the hotel has quiet rooms, away from the function areas. The staff are friendly and helpful, the parking is free for guests and the breakfast was delicious. There is not swimming pool, but if it's convenience to the city and comfort, that you are after , I think you can't go wrong with this hotel.

Od scored 5 / 5 on 08/03/2011

The Sandymount Hotel is very nice; staff very friendly snd helpful; rooms are nicely decorated and have all facilities; food lovely; just around the corner from the Aviva Stadium and the Landsdowne Road stop on the DART. Situated in a very quiet area. The Lidl B & B and dinner break is excellent value.

Michael scored 5 / 5 on 24/02/2011

We stayed 1 night Sunday 20/2/2011 on DBB basis. Best value for money night in a hotel ever. Staff very pleasant and helpful, room was great for the price. We stuck to the two standard courses, seafood chowder was loaded with a wide variety of fish - would have made a fine lunch on it's own. Goats cheese crostini was ok but not a patch on my wife's chowder. We both went for the lamb shank for main course, the lamb was tender and succulent and fell off the bone, marvellous. If you need to spend a night on the south side of Dublin I don't of anywhere better for the price.

Eric scored 5 / 5 on 03/02/2011

We stayed in the hotel on the 28th and 29th January, for concert in O2. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and warm and the breakfast was lovely. It was just beside Dart station, which was ideal for travel. It was on a nice, quiet road. The staff were helpful. Only one caveat. We requested a taxi for travel to the O2, and we were fleeced by the taxi. We complained, and the hotel phoned the taxi company, but still no satisfaction or explanation. So just be advised if ordering a taxi from the hotel. However, we definitely would go back again.

My husband and I and two friends had a lovely break in the Sandymount Hotel. We stayed on the dinner bed and breakfast break. Excellent value. Dinner was lovely, we payed a supplement of 7euro for the steak but it was well worth it. Nicest steak we had out. Everything was terrific from the welcome when we arrived to checking out. The rooms were lovely and warm and the bed lovely. On check out we were asked had we far to travel home. I said no we were going to the Holiday Fair and with that we were handed four tickets for the holiday fair. This was great and very nice. All in all we had a lovely time at the Sandymount Hotel and also at the Holiday Fair thanks to the hotel. The Lidl Breaks are great value and though this was our first one it certainly won't be our last. Well done Lidl and the best part is you don't need any points. Angela

we had an excellent two night break last thursday and friday nights at this hotel: customer service accomodatation and food were all excellent and great value for money. very convenient to the dart and in a lovely neighborhood. however its proximity to the aviva stadium wouldn't suit us if it were hosting a match concert or other loud crowded event,

Nicole scored 2 / 5 on 24/01/2011

My husband and I received a gift of a night away in the Mount Herbert Hotel (Jan 3rd), dinner included, from friends. We found the hotel quite easy to find and seemed very secure! Staff were very friendly and welcoming upon arrival and also in the bar.....we had dinner before going out....and i will have to say, i wasnt very impressed....my chowder (which i didnt finish!) was peas in milk! and i had a thai green curry which wasnt thai or green and full of big chunks of aubergines and courgettes!! My husband had chowder and steak, no complaints about the steak! We didnt complain at the time...as i said staff were very friendly and we had to be somewhere, plus it was a gift, so I didnt want to seem ungrateful! But the reason I am saying this now is because...the following morning just before 9am, housekeeping let a man into our room, whilst we were still in bed....they didnt knock first and we were just waking up, so they were in before we could say anything! When they realised we were in the room, they appologised and promptly left. We listened for a while and heard them enter a few other doors! We got dressed and packed and went down for breakfast, thinking all the time this was a genuine mistake. But the experience wouldnt leave me and I felt myself getting more and more annoyed! When we were leaving, I reported the incident to the receptionist (which was about an hour after the incident) and raised my concerns about the fact that nobody knocked or how housekeeping must not have contacted reception on whether the man was in fact locked out of his room ! She just appologised and said she would mention it to, I assume the manager! I still havent heard anything back and they have our address and details! Genuine mistake or not....a representitive from the hotel should have investigated and contacted me, if only to put my mind at rest!! This is the first time for me using Lidls Breaks, but my family and frie

We thoroughly enjoyed Mount Herbert Hotel, very friendly staff and breakast quite good, apart from scramble eggs. We had two rooms, one room had a avery low ceiling, and confined, but the other one was very spacious. Windows didnt open properly, but it is under restruction, so they are giving it a face lift. Good value for money. 3star

Lovely hotel in a very good location. Only minutes from the Dart station. Evening meal which was served in the bar was very good. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were bright and spacious. This lidl break was brilliant value for money. It is difficult to get away for 2 nights so this 1 night break was ideal for us. I was dissappointed that the dinner, bed and breakfast break for 49Euro was gone off the system when we looked for something similar a few weeks later.

I thought the hotel ws in a good location. We enjoyed the food and also the hotel was nice and clean. The staff were friendly and i won't hesitate in reccommending the hotel and would be happy to stay there again. I would give it 3stars plus as we were there such a short time we didn't have chance to explore the facilities fully

I booked mount herbert hotel for location to celebrate a birthday of one of my girl friends. Six of us spent a very enjoyable evening in the mount herbert hotel. We had lovely food in the bar and breakfast next morning which was very leisurely and we were allowed to stay as long as we liked chatting after breakfast. None of us had heard of the hotel until we checked hotels on lidl breaks and we hope this offer will be returned again as we will definitely avail of it. The staff were very nice and friendly.

Me and my sister stayed in the hotel on the 5th june 2010 and had a very unpleasant experience in the hotel that was very upsetting.

My mother and I stayed in the Mount Herbert Hotel on 16th June 2010 and really enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and our room was lovely and spacious. The dinner and breakfast was really good and we were not made to feel that we were on a "special offer". I would recommend this hotel as we could park the car and get the Dart to the city centre. Will certainly use this hotel again and will avail of Lidl Hotel Breaks again.

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. the bedroom was spacious and comfortable. the abthroom was a bit tight and quite old in applinaces however, it was clean and did the job. The evening meal was lovely and the breakfast was good too. Location wise it's good as it's near the dart. Staff were friendly and helpful.
