Great stay. Lovely room with a huge bed. Wasn't too hot like many hotels with the option for additional heating if you like it really warm. Breakfast was really good with so many choices. The staff at the breakfast were equally excellent.

Stayed here on 23 November 2017 on Dinner Bed & Breakfast and we also booked a Spa Treatment. We were pleasantly surprised with the renovation work completed and the Hotel facilities were excellent. We also upgraded to a Junior Suite which was well worth the money. The staff were very helpful and we would gladly return to this hotel again.

Stayed two nights at beautiful Breaffy House Hotel with my husband. We had a lovely time. Hotel and grounds are beautiful, so peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was excellent. Included dinner was also beautiful. Organic salmon I would highly recommend. Staff are very friendly all over the hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable, lovely toiletries. We were a couple and had a family room, so lots of space. The only recommendation I would suggest is to have a fan in the bathroom for steam from bath/shower. Lots of places to visit in the area also. All in all, a fantastic place to stay and would highly recommend it. We would definitely stay here again ( this was our second visit).

A beautiful place! we were late on arrival and the receptionist was so friendly, all the staff were so friendly there, bar staff restaurant staff! There was entertainment on both nights we were there in the bar which was a lovely to have! It was a last minute booking to go and will 100 percent be back as soon as we can! Would highly recommend Breaffy House, It has everything you need with such fantastic grounds! We felt like we were in another country! Such a lovely place for couples and for families! Can not wait to go back again! :)

Myself my husband and our two children stayed in The Breaffy House Hotel from Oct 30th-Nov 2nd. Having stayed in The Breaffy Woods some years ago we decided to try the house on this occasion and were not disappointed. The house is surrounded by landscaped gardens and beautiful countryside. There are walkways for anyone who like the outdoors and fairy trails for the kids. the setting is idyllic and very popular for weddings. The foyer and the ground floor are tastefully decorated, intimate and welcoming especially when the big open fire is lit. Our room on the second floor was spacious, if a little dated but had everything we needed. Breakfast every morning was in the Mulberry Restaurant which looked out over the grounds of the hotel. The selection, presentation and standard of the food was excellent with something to suit all tastes. We ate in the bar in the evenings and while a little dry at times the food was very good and portions generous. However the best thing about the hotel for us was the staff. They really made our halloween break memorable and could show some other hotels how its done. This family hotel gets noisy and crowded at times but the staff make the kids feel so special and important. From the breakfast club in the morning to the disco at night, kids club to swimming pool and games room, this hotel has it all and excellent staff who give 100%. Our kids made lots of friends and didnt want to come home. This was our 2nd visit and it wont be our last

Great value hotel, comfortable large family room with double bed and two singles. Staff were helpful and friendly and the children loved the pitch and putt course, The pool was good size and great fun was had by all. Food was a hit and miss good breakfast but average dinner which was all part of our hotel deal. Still great value and would go back again for sure.

Well situated for sight seeing hotel is a bit dated however renovation is scheduled for next week . The bar however is a nightmare with people being told to come back repeatedly there should be a separate bar that does not sell food to ease the space we gave up our seat to a family as we were just having a drink so as to allow them eat staff are very pleasant and it is good value

The hotel and leisure centre are both in need of a lick of paint and minor renovation, it must;ve been ages since any work was done. Breakfast was average but not bad. Because we were on a deal they put us in one of the cheaper rooms in the wings but that's to be expected. Still with B&B for €70 for two, and a leisure centre (pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi, gym), you can't go too far wrong. Would book it again if in the area and got the same deal.

Fantastic stay at Breaffy House with our two preschoolers. We arrived to the midst of a wedding and thought uh oh but it made no impact at all. Every member of staff we met was fantastic. The room was large and clean. The pool was great for little ones. Most of all the 2 girls who hosted the Kiddie Disco were incredible, absolutely brilliant manner with kids and adults alike.

We recently stayed in the Breaffy House, most enjoyable stay the staff were very professional. The hotel was lovely and clean some renovating going on did not bother us. the room we stayed in was lovely clean and large for a double, some of the corridors leading to the rooms could do with an up date, bit dated. The food was lovely. Will definitely stay here again. Jimmy Kiely

All the staff were excellent. The meals were lovely and the wine was very reasonable. Breakfast is buffet style except for the hot food and that makes sense because there were a lot of children around (Easter holiday time). There was a different singer in the Bar/Lounge each night and it was not too loud. Some building work is going on but it did'nt make any difference. We had a great time.

We had a lovely stay in the hotel, even though there were renovations taking place the next morning, it didn't take from our stay. Our room was beautiful and the swimming pool and facilities were spotless and both myself and my daughter had lots of fun. Staff were very friendly and accommadating and the food was gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing the finishing touches to the hotel.

Breaffy House Hotel is set in a picturesque location. The family room was very spacious and clean. The furniture in the bar could be better maintained (Chairs had torn seats). Staff were very helpful and the hotel is very child friendly. In the Breaffy Woods Hotel the evening entertainment was very good and well organised but a bit loud for younger children. Overall we had a very enjoyable few days in Breaffy House and I would recommend it to other families.

In a sentence... The Location and the Hotel were let down by the service.. We Didn't enjoy it.. We went down last weekend for a break to which we were expecting something better... Breakfast was not very nice, The room was just ok, Restaurant staff were not very nice except for a local lady there.. The tables in the reception were sticky and we were not told at check in that the meal voucher was in the back of the key card holder until the non Irish supervisor insisted I go to reception there and then otherwise I felt we were not getting dinner, only to embarrass myself at reception.. We had a friend joining us for a pretty poor breakfast and couldn't pay the €10 afterwards.. The Tables were not adequately set for the breakfast and everything was all over the place and not easy to find.. and staff seemed to avoid me if I had a query, we were ignored when we went down to the restaurant for dinner and staff pushed past us, The barman was very pleasant and jolly which redeemed it a little.. Put in a list of complaints on checkout, and wouldn't be surprised if it ended up in the shredder.. Not impressed, Would not revisit :(

What can I say about Breaffy House from the warmth of the welcome to the courteous staff and excellent food, it was a terrific experience from the time we arrived to our departure on Sunday. A repair kit was quickly procured on Sunday morning to avoid an emergency. This was our 3rd visit to Breaffy House and as the old adage goes if it aint broke don't fix it - I would heartily recommend Breaffy as a destination for a quite relaxing weekend away or indeed as a spot to base yourself whilst exploring the west of Ireland. We are already planning our next get away.

the reception desk was more than helpful. no hassle . the bar staff were not the friendliest except for one young girl . she was very helpful and courteous. the other bar staff could do a course on basic manners( please and thank you.) also looked to order food at 8.50pm . i was told if i hurried up the chef might take the order.!!! made me feel like i was an inconvenience. (i did get the food and it was delicious).i went down for breakfast and the manager seemed to be under pressure as alot of the guest came together. he had and argument with one of the male staff in front of guest.(not very professional) i found this embarrassing. . i stayed in the other hotel across the way last year. much nicer experience . would not be in a hurry to go back i am sorry to say. such a different experience from last years stay in the other hotel. lily

I had booked two double room for two nights on Lidl break - which included dinner on one night, my friend arrived before us and when she booked in the receptionist (new staff member I think) gave her vouchers for 4 course meal and the lidl break is for 2 course meal - my friend was not aware of this and did not realize that she was given the incorrect meal voucher. Shortly afterwards she got phone call in bedroom from another staff member who stated that the girl who booked her in had given wrong dinner vouchers and asked to have them back - surely they should have honored the mistake. We handed back vouchers and got ones for 2 couse meal. I am giving 1 star rating as a result of this as I think it is appalling. . Other than that pleased with hotel, food good and rooms warm and clean, staff very nice - except for one girl in the bar - very rude.

I stayed with a group of six women for two nights. Breaffy Hosue was ideal for shopping in Castlebar, just a short taxi journey. The hotel was first class, from checking the reservation, they offered to have all three room close together, they accommodated us with an early checking in 12 noon. We booked a meal in the restaurant for the second night and the staff were so nice, we had bought a birthday cake which they served, even lighting the candles. The hotel was very comfortable, nice and warm everywhere. We made full use of the pool and the health suite, the staff again were so helpful and pleasant. This was our second year staying in the Breaffy House Hotel, and we are looking forward to returning next year again. It is just a pity we cannot give it a higher rating than 5 stars.

Galway scored 3 / 5 on 02/01/2014

The hotel is a nice 3* but the rooms on checkin could have been warmer and maybe less hot through the night. More hot water in the evening for showers would also be nice. This was our second visit and I think the standard has dropped loads since our last visit in August. Breakfast was basic and plentiful but a lot of the crockery was not clean. Regarding the pool....the area round the changing rooms and corridor to the pool was very cold and the pool itself could have been slightly warmer.

I have stayed in the Breaffy house a couple of times and really enjoyed it . The staff are really nice. The only thing that let them down was the breakfast, it wasn't very hot, they usually have a lovely fresh fruit salad which they didn't this time and no little pasteries other than that I would recommend it

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 07/11/2013

very pleased with out stay, room very clean warm and comfy, very helpful staff. The food is really great value, the only comment I would make is that the dining room looks a little tired ie the carpet and chairs could do with a shampoo but this will certainly not stop us from coming again in the very near future. Unfortunately I agree with Damo on his review. Myself and my husband stayed there last week and we also experienced many flies at breakfast, they were sitting on the plates and on the food which I brought to the attention of the waitress who removed only one dish. Our room was large, basic but very clean. The dinner in the restaurant on one of the nights was fine with a fly or two for company. The hotel really need to do something about this. The hotel is a bit dated and could do with updating. We enjoyed the pool, sauna etc which was very nice. I have been to this hotel twice this year but wouldn't go back there again.

Had a fantastic stay at Breaffy House Hotel. The room was large and bright. The staff were friendly and helpful. We made good use of the leisure center as we were cycling the excellent Green way during the day. It was a great way to unwind. The hotel also stored our bikes overnight which was brilliant. My only complaint is the bar is rather small and fills up quickly.

want to award 3.5 stars -- good value break in this hotel family room was clean and comfortable, spacious enough and met out expectations well free parking on site - pretty good facilities for kids the food was reasonable and we enjoyed dinner especially hotel itself does show signs of wear and tear here and there but if similar value available in the future we will return

One can only speak as you find and we found the hotel, it's staff, food and drink to be of excellent quality and food portions ample. The cleanliness we observed to be very good, the carpets and upholstery in the dinning room were probably what one would expect to find in a busy dining room where children are among the visitors and all that goes with that, but certainly nothing we observed through out the Hotel and very ample grounds would prevent us from returning soon. Hats off to Lidl for providing these most afordable opportunities Regards Mary Wilson Co Roscommon

Damo scored 1 / 5 on 02/09/2013

This is possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. It is a maze getting to the family rooms if you have a pushchair, up in one lift across corridors, down in another lift and then more corridors. The rooms are basic, no fan in bathroom, mould on tiles behind door, few channels on tv, but other than that clean enough. The hotel was noisy at night time at the weekend, with other families coming back with no consideration for any one else, the fire alarm went off briefly at 7.00am, it didn't wake the whole family, but then the phone rang after that, presumably it was reception telling us it was a false alarm., so we were not not well rested after our stay. There were flies in the dining room at breakfast, the apple juice was watered down, the toaster went on fire. The food was not good either for breakfast or dinner. The lifts broke making it even more difficult to get around with a pushchair. The swimming pool was not as warm as it should be, nor was the kiddies pool, we were freezing when we got out even though we didn't stay long. The positive points are the play ground, the crazy golf and the walk/pond. All in all we were not impressed with this hotel.

Breaffy House Hotel Had a most enjoyable two night break in Breaffy House - 2B&B and I Dinner. It is such a lovely place, quiet and peaceful and away from noise and traffic. The food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. I would recommend Breaffy House to anybody. Thank you to Lidl. Well done.

After reading most of the other reviews about this hotel I think I must have stayed somewhere else, but I can only speak as I found, the one word I have to use to sum up our whole experience was awful from start to finish of our two day stay. That description covers the food which we could not eat, the room, the overall cleanliness of the hotel, everything. Only saving grace the staff which were very helpful. the one star I have awarded it is for the staff.

Myself and my husband went to Breaffy House Hotel for a mid-week break in June 2013. We had a wonderful time. Our room was great the food delicious; even the bar food. We used the pool, the sauna and the steam room...lovely.The hotel was spotless. The grounds wonderful. The staff excellent from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The weather was beautiful and I would recommend the Museum of Country Life a visit; only a few kilometers from the hotel, the grounds alone are worth it especially on a sunny day. We will definitely return. M&A

Lovely hotel, had a room at front looking out onto lawns, was happy with everything. Limited selection at breakfast but I still feel that we got great value for money with this Lidl break and would definitely return to this hotel. Stayed in the breaffy Woods (two different hotels- breaffy house and breaffy woods- on same complex.) woods is more aimed at families, house is aimed at couples. Both are lovely.

Rooms are of a good size, plenty to choose from for breakfast and a lovely swimming pool etc for the kids to use. Great facilities - one minor issue - the bar is very small and in the evening had limited space to sit and have a drink. If you are travelling in large groups, it may be a problem. On the upside - hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and when we couldnt get seating, they opened up the resturaunt to seat our party

Helen, Co Galway May 7th 2013 I have just had a two night stay in the Breaffy House Hotel with my mother-in-law and it was a fantastic weekend. Fantastic value and very friendly staff in every section of the hotel. We ate in both the restraunt and the bar, and found the choice in both places great. Breakfast offered a wide choice of both hot & cold food. It was a mother's day gift for my mother-in-law and so we indulged in some treatments in the spa. This was amazing with warm & friendly staff looking after us from start to finish. The only negitive thing to say about our stay was the temperature of the room.....it was far too hot, even with the window fully open. However the room was very spacious and clean. We really enjoyed our stay and will definately return to this hotel. Thanks for making our stay so plesent & enjoyable, 5 star rating in my eyes.

Good facilities: swimming pool, gym, nice grounds where to go for a walk and the spa. The breakfast was fine, decent variety. The serious problem was the noise coming from the pub which is inside the complex. They had a concert on on both nights, but the second night it was very loud and it last until late. The hotel management should consider the different needs of their customers. The room was nice and the bed very comfortable, but the tv was old and with few channels. Staff was helpful.

Arrived at Breaffy House Hotel last Wednesday 17th. April & we were so pleased with our beautiful comfortable bedroom. We had 2 Australian relations with us & they could not get over the reception we received. We had a beautiful dinner in restaurant & an equally lovely breakfast the next morning. My husband is not a big fan of cooked breakfast & our very helpful waitress brought him a very tasty portion of fresh salmon. It was much appreciated. Hope to return with our next visitors from Australia. Doing our bit for The Gathering. Thanks again.B. & L. Cooke.

Overall it was a nice stay. The rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast was lovely. The breakfast staff was friendly and competent. Unfortunately checking in wasn't as pleasant. The man working at the reception could not find the reservation. He was rude at times and did not listen to what we were saying. He insisted on swiping my credit card even though we had said we would pay in cash. He seemed to want the credit card details no matter what we said and ignored what we said. He was unable to look for the booking and was complaining how I had not printed out the confirmation email. So besides the rude man at the reception and the hassle with finding the booking it was a nice stay.

we needed a bigger family room as had 3rd child with us, there is an extra 10 euro charge for the pleasure and 30 euro for breakfast for 3 kids for 2 nights so total charge was 180 euro for 2 nights. family rooms are in the depts of the building having to go up 1 flight across corridor only to come back down 1 flight of stairs and across another long corridor, which makes no sense to me. service at the bar and reception good however couldn't listen to bad country music in the bar for too long, breakfast average, self serve tea coffee juice cereals and fruit, and hot food served at the grill, room very basic and tv didnt work but we didnt need to spend much time in it, all in all I'd give the hotel a 3 at a push. certainly wouldn't have paid more for it.

We really enjoyed our stay in Breaffy House. Kids were well catered for with the kids club and evening disco. Staff were friendly. The only let down was the evening menu. It offered no imagination. Old fashioned food menu of beef, salmon, chicken, with side plates of veg. You could easily feed people for the same price but inject some choice and taste into the menu. I'd go back and stay longer if the menu improved. I couldn't stay in the hotel and eat the same menu for more than 2nights.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous setting. Myself, my wife and two kids stayed there for 2 nights. Hotel clean is nice and clean, although slightly dated in places. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of great activities for the kids and a nice restaurant and bar for the adults. A little out from the town centre, but not too far. Leisure centre is excellent. Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending the Breaffy House.

we stayed in a family room on the 28 th of October, the room was spacious and clean. we had dinner in the resturant, which I may say was very well staffed, a lovely girl served us , who was unrushed in taking my boys order (age 7 and age 5), we really enjoyed the meal and were able to relax in a lovely warm resturant. we played mini golf the next day , which is always fun with 2 boys !! and afterwards we went swimming, i have to commend the life guards on duty, although there were alot of children swimming, i felt they were very attentively watching all the children and quick to stop them from running or jumping in at he wrong spots.(as my two were doing !!)..well done, Over all we had a great stay and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a family break

Ac scored 4 / 5 on 30/10/2012

We have an excellent weekend here. The weather allowed us to walk the beautiful grounds. The evening meal was superb. Only one criticism on that was the fact that a rowdy birthday party was allowed to spoil the otherwise tranquil dining experience for everyone else. Such a party should have had its own space. It is hard to have a quiet dinner while balloons etc are popping. The staff were very courteous. The rooms are a good size and well managed. The games room for the children was a bit tawdry, and the games are not set to be kind to the children who find it difficult to win on anything. This led to a lot of tears. So, a little less take and a little more give in the Games Room would be good for the children.

Beautiful hotel, a welcoming fire in the Foyer of hotel when we arrived and on the following evening we were there. Food good and staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very spacious and warm and entertainment was provided each night. Lovely grounds for walking and convenient to Castlebar, Westport and Ballina. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as I have done before at this hotel through Lidl and fantastic value for money. Will be back.

receptionist ,(short dark brown hair) was very rude and extremely unhelpful when checking in, so much so she had me reduced to tears as i was getting my bags out of my car, i have never started a holiday in this country crying ,meanwhile another receptionist came out to see if i was ok but i could not speak as i was trying to stop crying in front of my 6yr old. food in the bar was terrible so much so the childs pasta sauce was a disgrace and made my child ill.i would like to know has the chef fed his own children that or did anyone actually taste it, the crazy golf area is also a disgrace it needs to be fixed and resurfaced, (take a trip to the clarion in sligo and see their crazy golf area), the reception area to the pool needs a good cleaning and the dressing rooms i felt also needed an update and cleaning. the driveway up to the hotel needs to be resurfaced as its in bad condition, but a local business woman told me there was a second driveway into the hotel that would not damage my car, she also told me that local people in castlebar would not dare eat at the Breaffy as the food is a disgrace, i agreed as our evening meal of steak was dreadful. on a positive note the bedrooms were half cleaned, the hotel is in a good location for travelling around mayo and the islands.

I would give 5 star rating for this lovely hotel, spa worth a visit very relaxing and excellent treatments, all staff very helpful from cleaners to front line staff. Some parts of the hotel probably could do with updating and a fresh coat of paint but the location and staff more than made up for this

We stayed at Breaffy House Hotel for Easter. The room was very clean and bright, the location was very peaceful and quiet. Food was lovely. While we appreciate it was Easter and lots of families were staying there, very small children were allowed to roam freely in the hotel without supervision until late into the night. There were only two pillows on the bed, more would have been appreciated and the same for towels. The tea tray in our room was very welcome after coming a long journey, but some of the milk was sour, a little biscuit would be nice. Staff in Dining Room were very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again. We found the Lidl Breaks great value for money. Eileen

Our family of parents and two kids aged 9 and 11 spent two nights at the hotel. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. The bedroom was spacious, modern and bright with four proper comfortable beds and a good bathroom. We liked the pool even though the water temperature was a bit low for the children, great sauna and steamroom though. We really enjoyed our stay and would go there again.

The staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean and excellent value for money. Plenty to keep the kids happy. If I had to be picky, the bar is a little dated and could do with a revamp, but other than that, a great value break. We had friends staying in Achil and Castlebar is within easy driving distance for a day trip.

Fun was had by all, we will certainly be back

We stayed in a family room in Breaffy House Hotel on the night of my sisters wedding. Our room consisted of 2 double beds and one single bed. The room was clean warm and even with 3 beds there was still plenty of room. Our room was situated in an ideal location we were far enough away from the function room that the we were not disturbed by the music yet close enough to be able to get to the room quickly if the babysitter needed us. As always the staff of Breaffy were exceptional and catered to out every request. I would have no problem recommending both Breaffy House and Lidl breaks to others

Had a super night in Breaffy last weekend. It was my sisters wedding and this made the stay all the more special. There was a very large crowd in attendance and I though that the management and staff coped very well and gave a very high level of service. The food was perfect and extras portions were offered. The only reason that I have given a 4 star rating instead of 5 is that even though our booking was on a B & B basis the staff were under the false impression that it was room only. When I was booking in I was too busy to really question the matter and enjoying the wedding was more important. We quesioned the matter the next morning and it was rectified. We had a great stay in Breaffy and were only dissappointed that we were not able to stay longer or enjoy the full facilities on offer.

Really enjoyed the hotel, very much a family hotel with loads of children, which was great. As there is only one pool for two hotels, you had to queue for the pool about 10 mins, which wasn't too bad. great value with Lidl breaks and food was realtively good value on the bar menu, also one evening we had pizza in our room, two large pizza and lg bottle coke for 20 euro. The toddlers club was 7 euro which for hour and half and kids club 12.50, I think. I didn't avail of this but I think the cost would really all add up, last year we stayed at the Westport Woods and the kids and toddler club was all inclusive in the price.

Npon scored 2 / 5 on 22/08/2011

I was very disappointed with the condition of the Hotel, I stayed there about 4 years ago but I am afraid it has gone downhill a lot since then. The Swimming Pool area for example only 2 out of 6 showers were working in the Gents changing room for the duration of my stay, the shower along side the Sauna area was not working, In the swimming pool a number of tiles were missing in the Swimming Pool floor which was very dangerous with sharp edges. I know it is peak season but in this day and age it is a bit ridiculous to have to queue for ten minutes for a cooked breakfast due to just having one person serving breakfast, i don't see why they could not have a self service buffet style like most other Hotels. The general cleanliness was very poor especially the glass areas of the reception area which were all stained, in the car park area there was evidence of broken glass from a car window and a smoldering fire in a bush the general feel was of no maintenance with overgrown bushes and weeds around the car park. On the positive side the food was good quality, the bedrooms were clean and comfortable, it was good value for money and the staff were very helpful and friendly but I am afraid I would not recommend this Hotel to my friends.

We stayed at Breaffy for three nights with our two boys - We were immediately struck by the warm and friendly atmosphere . The staff are amazing and there is a family hotel feel to the place. The hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained - the food was really lovely - all sorts of delicious things . The buys swam every and played crazy golf . There were lots of kids things happening actually - wish I had known about this place when they were younger. Castle bar too is a lovely town and so close to Achill. we stayed in Breaffy house hotel last weekend, family of 2 adults, 2 children. Overall, a wonderful experience. Room was bright and clean, plenty of towels etc. Very family friendly, especially the staff. pool was great, and lifeguards were visibly watchful. Cold part of breakfast buffet was fabulous, we all enjoyed it especially the kids. We loved the fruit and yougurt part of it, and the croissants were delicious. But the hot breakfast was a bit of a disaster. It was quite chaotic, and at times dangerous. My son burned his hand carrying his plate down, the person behind the counter was obviously very stressed and none of us got what we asked for. I would make two recommendations: 1. Serve the hot breakfast to the table, less stressful and safer. 2. The Games Room - move it inside, too dodgy having it separate from the hotel, down steps etc. you can't let kids out there by themselves, and its not a nice environment for the parents. The Library is hardly in any use, if it was up to me, I'd stick a pool table in the library, with a few more things, then parents could relax and either sit with them or in the 'corridor area. I hope you'lll take my suggestions into account because we'd really like to go back there soon.

We stayed for one night. It was the Sunday of a bank holiday weekend. The hotel is very family orientated so for those with children it is an ideal location. We did not sample the bar food however the food on a menu for our group was fine (gravy would have been nice but the girls serving did not seem to understand what we were looking for!!). Overall as for value for money, I couldnt fault it. For two people to stay in a room with double and single bed it was simply great value. Breakfast was well laid out for self service. I have already recommended LIDL BREAKS to most of my friends, family and work colleagues. Cant not go wrong for that price!! Cheers Lidl.

Our stay at the hotel was very enjoyable and excellent value for money. Family room for 5 was very clean and spacious. Enjoyed the leisure centre (although showers could have been a bit hotter). Nice location close to Castlebar but very much in the countryside and good base for west Mayo. On the down side - the mini-golf area was unfortunately not looked after at all - covered in leaves and stones etc. A small bit of effort would make a huge difference. - the next morning (11am) there were still glasses and cider cans strewn on the front lawn beside the main entrance. Not good with children around.

This hotel is without doubt the worst KIP I have ever stayed in. When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted with a phone call to tell me that i had been moved from the breaffy house hotel to the breaffy woods hotel. I had not booked the woods hotel with lidl amd made a point of insisting that i wanted to stay in the house hotel and not the woods. I was then informed that as the hotel was fully booked and that when you book with lidl the breaffy house hotel can move you to the woods hotel without prior notice. I accepted this arrangement because I was attending a wedding at the resort. when I got to my room I discovered that the heating was swithched of and was on a booster system. The room was freezing and when I asked where the booster button was i was informed that it was located outside of the room at the end of the hallway and that the heat would only be on for 2 hours before it went of again. I then discovered that the water in the room was so full of lime that it looked like a glass of MILK and was disgusting. When I got to the restaurant it was at a good price (19 euro for 3 courses) except that the food was below par it was no better than a porr carvery lunch. When I wanted to get a drink in the bar it was usually occupied by Captain Jack and his pirate play time. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

The facilities were clean and the staff were friendly and helpful, the only down side to our stay was that time was restricted in the leisure facilities due to demand as it was mid-term. The food was good and a good selection on the menu, VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, We will use Lidl breaks again in the future, Thanks to you all. Tom Joe.

Just returned from a weekend in Breaffy House Hotel. Could be fabulous but the food and decor caught in a time warp. Pool very overcrowded and doesn't much look like it's picture. Not suitable at all for prams or buggies - lift not working on arrival so had to take up and down stairs. With permanent signs up telling you what to do when lift out of order it seems to be a regular occurance. Even when they were working a maze to find your room. On the plus side staff very friendly and rooms spacious. But for the price the Lidl deals themselves very good value and any extras in Breaffy were too very good value. Will try another hotel next time with Lidl.

spent the wkend 1st-3rd oct there, hotel was nice but some of the corridors we had to walk tru to get to our room wer like a 1960's school corridor, not nice, room was nice & clean, on sat afternoon a wedding arrived into the bar where myself & the wife wer relaxing just watching a bit of the ryder cup & wasnt a good experiance, there was so many of them we couldn't move, the wife felt very uncomfortable wit them on top of us because the bar is small & there wer 250 for the wedding so we wer told later, should hav been a seperate room for those people to drink, they ended up destroying the toilets we had to share & causing some problems throughtout the night, staff wer lovley & the food was excellent & really good value, taxi from hotel to castlebar was 13 euro each way, a bit too much, hotel should hav a minivan that runs every few hours in & out of town, when booking online the LIDL breaks only worked out at aprox 10 euro cheaper then booking direct,,,,, to sum up, hotel was average, staff & food wer great, but if ur looking for a relaxing break make sure u check if there is a wedding or other function on at the same time, if there is select a different date to go because it could put u off staying there again

The Hotel setting is beautiful. Our welcome on arrival was the best I had experienced in Ireland to date and this continued with the other members of staff we met throughout the weekend so that is commendable to the hotel that they have a high standard of customer care and relations. The leisure centre is lovely and a welcome way to unwind after the journey to the hotel. I didnt get to sample the spa this time as I had a busy itinerary for the weekend. Breakfast was leisurely and delicious and this despite the hotel being fairly full. No problems parking even though a wedding taking place. Fire alarm sounded on three separate occasions for a short period around and after midnight on the Friday (?? someone smoking in an adjacent bedroom) but apart from that, an excellent stay and well done to LIDL in providing a very affordable chance for some rest and relaxation.

Nine of us spent the night in Breaffy House Hotel while on a visit to Knock. It was absolutely a wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel was lovely and the staff were all so nice and helpful. The atmosphere in the hotel was great. We ranged in age from 50 to 90. Our rooms were all gorgeous with tea/coffee making facilities. The restaurant was great and we had a delicious evening meal as well as a full breakfast. We had entertainment in the bar. All in all we had a great night and will certainly go back to Breaffy House Hotel. The best value for so little cost. Thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Breaffy House Hotel. It was fantastic value for money. Lidl Breaks are a superb way of seeing the country for a reasonable cost. Keep them coming.

I really enjoyed my stay in Breaffy House Hotel, Mayo. We were blessed with beautiful weather. As regards the hotel itself the drive into the hotel and the walks around the hotel were so inviting and peaceful. The staff in the hotel were more than accommodating both @ reception and the hotel dining room. They loved to chat and always asked how we spent our day and were willing to inform us of all the places of interest locally. I would recommend it for a good relaxing break, and good cuisine. It was certainly value for money with the the Lidl breaks long may they last.

Great value. Only downside is hotel is three miles from Castlebar. We came by train ansd spent a fortune on taxi fares. Hotel should provide courtesy bus.

Hotel needs complete refurbishment, was rather shabby, not what I expected from the outside. They need to pay more attention to hygiene in both bar and restaurant as I got dirty glass in the bar and dirty glass and cup in the restaurant. The cup had not been washed at all after previous use. I would not use this hotel again.
