First class stay at hotel.staff were excellent.

From the moment we arrived the staff were excellent. If you are looking for a Hotel on the coast with a 15 min train journey into the heart of the City. the Royal Marine is the hotel for you. Their triple rooms are a single and a double so if you wish to have three beds you will need to make them aware of this in advance.

by Lorraine 3rd November 2015 We had a lovely stay in the Royal Marine Hotel over the Halloween Weekend. Beautiful room, well kept, and very comfortable bed. Lovely leisure centre with pool and sauna to relax in the evening. A nice breakfast served by a very attentive staff. Followed by a leisurely walk in the sunshine on the pier. We will be back to visit again soon.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 day stay in the hotel this week. The friendliness of the staff is overwhelming. The homeliness of the hotel foyer is heartening. The food was really delicious. The rooms are beautiful. And the beds....magnificent. Outside, the sun shone on DunLaoire pier and an air of relaxation was apparent with strollers enjoying the lovely views of Dublin Bay. I`ll be back....as soon as possible.

this is a magical hotel and location, like being on the irish riviera, charming and full of ambience. enjoyed shopping around the corner, and walks on the prom, dart into the city for a show, all 2 minutes away. fabulous room and breakfast, didn't want to leave.

Bernadettec scored 4 / 5 on 28/05/2015

I booked a triple room at the Royal Marine Hotel. Everything was great, except the breakfast 'hot food' was stone cold. Maybe we were just unlucky. The setting of the hotel, bedrooms and ambience were great and I would return. I had to rush off to a meeting so didn't complain about the cold fry (thinking it was just a one-off). My sisters ate later and had the same complaint so now I wish we had drawn the staff's attention to it. Overall though I would give this beautiful hotel another chance.

Stayed here for one night during the May bank Holiday weekend. Food in bar was lovely. We were given an upgrade to a bigger room when we were arrived which initially we were thrilled with. But when we went to the room, we room had been freshly painted and the smell was very overpowering. Found the fumes very strong throughout our stay. We weren't compensated in any way for this just thanked for bringing it to the hotels attention. Its a pity as otherwise hotel was nice

Paddy scored 5 / 5 on 11/05/2015

Delighted to have stayed here - staff were all very friendly and helpful - breakfast was fine - very convenient for the DART - hope to return in the near future - my thanks to Irish Rail for the ease in making the booking - cheers.

My little girl and i stayed in the Royal Marine Hotel for mid term february 2015. I would highly recommond this hotel, staff very friendly and so helpful in fact i had a hoarse throat during my stay and the waitress in the coffee dock on my departure to my room for bed gave me Honey and lemon which was a very nice gesture. I had breakfast at the hotel, choice was good. Location and view from hotel fab.....will definetly retun.....Trish Limerick

We had a really nice stay in the royal marine, it looks fab from the outside and didn't let us down inside either, large hotel with lots of different seating areas which is nice. The staff were very friendly and more than helpful. We ate in the bar and it was really nice and good value for money. The rooms were everything they should be, warm, clean and the beds were very comfortable. We were sleeping 3 adults in our room and could have done with extra towels as there only seemed to be enough for 2 but that is a small thing, over all everyone in our party was very happy and would happily recommend.

Cathriona scored 3 / 5 on 03/02/2015

Fabulous hotel but i felt we were given the oldest room in the hotel looking out onto a flat roof. Would love to visit again and stay in the new area of the hotel

Dervilla scored 5 / 5 on 03/02/2015

We had a most enjoyable stay in the Royal Marine Hotel. We have been a few times before and have always found it excellent. We were only there for 1 night but used the pool on two occasions as we had 2 children with us. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very kind and helpful. Dun Laoghaire is a lovely area and we will be returning to the Royal Marine Hotel in the near future.

Mary scored 5 / 5 on 14/07/2014

My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful hotel on the 11th July and had the most fantastic time. The staff and management were so professional and helpful. The food was excellent and the hotel itself spectacular. The room was very comfortable and did not disappoint. I would certainly stay there again. The breakfast choices were amazing and they served up to 11am on Saturday and Sundays.

Maggie scored 1 / 5 on 13/07/2014

We stayed from 9th - 11th July on B&B basis. I had stayed before so I knew it had to be a sea view so just put this in the section when booking which is for requests. Just say it must be a sea view room and that you will pay hotel the additional supplement, I can assure you that you will not regret it. Also level 3 or 4 is good but this is only a request and cannot be guaranteed but they will do their best to accommodate this or any other requests you may have. I love this hotel, it is excellent , convenient to local shops, promenade and East Pier and the DART Station also lots of lovely walks for the more energetic! The buffet breakfast has anything you could possibly want, although if you want porridge, kippers or fried/poached eggs you will have to ask the waitress for these as they are freshly cooked to order, however the scrambled egg is really good. There is a wide range of food available all day. The hotel has a great atmosphere and the price we paid for the service and quality of hotel was an excellent deal. This hotel can be extremely busy at times.

Mia&phil scored 5 / 5 on 04/07/2014

From arrival we were treated like Royalty which is why in our books it is called the 'Royal' Marine Hotel. The staff in every area are courteous, attentive & go above and beyond the call of duty in their dealings with customers. The rooms are beautiful and have everything you could possibly need including fluffy bath sheets (not bath towels), fridge, safe, king size bed (most comfortable ever in a hotel) The food in Hardy's Bar is gorgeous and the service there is brilliant. The leisure centre blew us away with its facilities and best of all decent showers in the changing area (very rare in most hotels) The Wi-Fi was excellent and the breakfasts were beautiful, plenty of parking and stunning views of the harbour. Highly recommend this hotel

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 22/06/2014

My husband had a hip replacement recently and was visiting the hospital in Dublin. I found the whole experience at the Royal Marine Hotel to be fabulous from the staff who were so helpful and could not do enough for us. My only regret was that we were not staying for two nights but we will be back again. One small complaint was that the set dinner menu was not very extensive and we found it hard to find things that we both liked. We ended up eating in the Bar which was excellent. Star rating 4.5

Jbuilder6 scored 5 / 5 on 21/05/2014

Excellent Hotel - would highly recommend for any kind of stay. Staff are very helpful and service was brilliant at all times. Have stayed here many times throughout the years and have never been disappointed. Could do with a bit of modernisation here and there, but it nothing that would put me off staying again. Looking forward to my next break there at the end of the summer!

Nice hotel, good location, some of the staff at reception could be more friendly - they seemed dis-interested when we arrived, however the lady on the desk the morning of our departure was very pleasant. I would stay here again.

I really enjoyed my stay in the Royal Marine. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They went out of their way put the group in rooms beside each other without even being asked . The accomodation was of high quality and very clean. When I left something behind in the room, they were really helpful in searching for it and nothing was a bother. Will definitely stay again....

We have just returned from a 3 night stay in The Royal Marine Hotel. The room was very spacious, clean, and more importantly, quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Breakfast where they have a buffet which serves everything from ceral, fruit etc to the full Irish, plus selection of breads, Danish pasteries etc. catered for everyones taste and appetite. We also ate in Hardy's bar plus the Restaurant and also the Bay Lounge. Overall food is lovely, very tasteful and it was only on our last night that we had to complain re the pork stir fry - the pork was as tough as anything. We explained to the waitress and she told the chef - my uncle than went to pay the bill and was charged for 2 pork stirfries which could not be eaten (well the noodles were lovely). Anyway it all got sorted on check out when I explained to a manager & he has given his word that my aunt and uncle will receive 2 free main courses on their return. All in all we had a lovely break and will definitely return. Also the leisure facilities are excellent.

I phoned hotel to see could I cancel booking on the day I was told no. So no room for error with hotel. I arrived at hotel and checked in at 18-30. I am a non smoker and when I got to my room there was a bad smell of cigar smoke. I was upgraded to a bigger room with no fuss. In the morning the water went off in the middle of me having a shower and I was informed by reception that it would be sorted in 20 to 30 minutes. Not much good when you are full of soap. But got sorted . Note to hotel things can go wrong sometimes !!! you might take this on board when people might have to cancel rooms none of us is perfect as to the hotel I will stay again soon and report on same

Kevin scored 4 / 5 on 04/02/2014

We had a great weekend. The hotel was excellent and the food great, the waiter on our table Saturday night was superb. I would suggest that a better use of bar staff on a Saturday evening should be to consider. Customer service, rather than top up shelves, should be the priority. Replenishing should de done in a slack period or when the stock is almost gone.

Maj scored 5 / 5 on 27/01/2014

Our stay at the Royal Marine was lovely, as always the staff are very helpful and the beds are the comfiest ever. My only complaint would be the prices of the food and the beverages. A cup of milk for my child cost €1.60.

Yvonne scored 3 / 5 on 21/01/2014

Beautiful hotel with an entrance and reception which are stunning, with an olde world feel. On checking in at 3pm reservations for dinner could not be made as it was booked out until 8.30pm, the dining area is very small which also becomes a problem at breakfast time, those in early, are rushed for the second sitting, and if there is no table free you have to wait in reception until called. We were unlucky as those in the room next door to us were trouble makers, after 3 calls to reception to report noise and fighting, security were sent up each time, but as soon as they left the racket continued, it was only when the guards were called at 6.30am and removed the offenders that we had any peace, which was way to late. The bar menu is basic, though the staff are very friendly and courtous, unfortunately they are let down by the "gentleman" in charge of breakfast, who is down right rude and has no manner, though he may have inherited this attitude from the manager on duty during our time there. Over all we were dissappointed, management didn't care that a corridor of guests were disturbed all night, just scibbled his email address on a plain sheet of paper, with a vague promise of a room upgrade should we return OR tea and a scone! Customer service needs to be up graded!!

Check in was lovely, staff very friendly. Rooms lovely (we had two, three of us staying). Sadly met a friend in the Reception, had to wait over half a hour to get served and then the waitress in a bad mood. Next morning asked girl at what looked like a coffee bar about breakfast, she said breakfast over for the day and we were late - different waitress - sadly same bad mood - this was at 10.35 - we had been told at check in that breakfast available until 11.00 - after the surly service night before and in morning decided to have a coffee and just leave, Ended up getting lovely nosh in Goggins in Monkstown We stay in Dublin at least 5 to 6 times a year. but doubt we'll ever stay there again - deal or no deal and its not worth it. . Another lovely stay at the Royal Marine. Great venue for a girlie getaway, or just to relax with your other half. Nice mix of old and new, in a fantastic location. Only issue this year was that there was a lot of noise during the night. We were woken up three times - twice with shouting in hallway and a third time when the same drunk guests set off the fire alarm! Did get an apology from reception when checking out though. Will deffo go back again. A firm favourite!

I stayed in this hotel on 23rd November 2013 and I have to say, it's an absolutely gorgeous hotel. The room was a good size, tastefully decorated, the beds were EXTREMELY comfortable and the staff were fantastic. There is a spa in the hotel and guests get discounted rates. However, it might be worth your while to book in advance and mention that you'll be staying there, as I would think that if you waited until you arrived to book a treatment, there would be limited or no availabilty. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at this hotel to anyone!

We enjoyed our stay at the Royal Marine. The location of the hotel, on an elevated site overlooking Dublin Bay, affords a magnificent view and is convenient to the DART station some five minutes walk away. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and had a lovely, quiet comfortable, well appointed room on the fifth floor. The lift system is very efficient. The buffet . Breakfast was delicious and we were spoilt for choice with the splendid variety available. Overall we were very pleased with our visit and highly recommend it. We will certainly return.

Davidandclann scored 4 / 5 on 03/05/2013

I stayed here recently for one night connected with business I arrived late and checked out early- there is an underground car park serving the hotel which is complimentary for residents- the room was comfortable, not overly large with a comfortable double bed -the mattress consisted of memory foam overlay over pocket spring - good nights sleep -decor was modern- bathroom consisted of shower toilet and wash hand basin, no bath - I had breakfast in the morning -quality of food was very good -quality of service was excellent - decor and ambience in the restaurant was very good. This is an old world hotel given a modern twist in recent years. There is a swimming pool and spa at the hotel however I didn't get an opportunity to use same. Its location is central in Dun Laoghaire and the views over Dublin Bay are commanding from its front facade I obtained good value rate and overall was happy with my stay so I have awarded 4 stars . Hotel receptionist was friendly, attentive and efficient

great price but I just felt the request I had asked for was not even looked at. we had to change rooms twice as the first room we were put in was facing a brick wall and the noise coming from the boiler below was very noisy room 423. they then changed us to another part. which was ok. they said it was an upgrade but we were then facing a building site that they are building a libray on room 353 .there was a party of 4 of us for a wedding anniversary but one couple were in one building and us in another. if that was an upgrade i would seriously question the price and the quaility. we have booked 3 nights for my husbands parents on the 3 of may coming and would consider cancelling it due to what we have experinced. rooms very cold and not the cleaniness. 5 out of 10 at a push.

Stayed one night in March and found it a very pleasant hotel. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast selection was excellent and found my booking to be excellent value for money. The one down side was the bar prices were a bit over the top and as such we socialised away from the hotel.

This was exceptioal value for money and everything met or exceeded expectations. The attention of the staff, the food and the quality of the rooms were all top class. The hotel location is very good. I would thoroughly recommend this deal

Stayed for 2 nights Mon and Tue of this week 11th and 12th of Feb., lovely hotel, rooms were excellent and Leisure facilities were also excellent, excellent location and Dun Laoghaire has a lot to offer. Staff were friendly but was let down by the standard of food. The restaurant was closed in evenings during the week (which was not said on the website) which only left the bar and bar food menu which wasn't very elaborate, we ate there the first night which was good but the staff were few which left service very slow, we had to go out to get a good meal the 2nd night rather than eating the same again, was also disappointed with the breakfast as it said on the menu "Scones" and "muffins" which we saw none of and also none of the breads were home baked they were all bought and not very fresh, the staff in the breakfast room were not very good either, my wife ordered 2 boiled eggs and they didnt come out until we asked about them after 15 mins and they were rock hard so she sent them back and was told we would have more in 4 mins, the girl passed our table several times after this and seen us but again after 12 mins i had to ask her about the eggs again, this time they were ok but staff not on top of their game and not focused on their job was a bit of a let down on the hotel because we were also woken up at 8.15 am by "Accomodation" trying to enter our room as we were still asleep, and when she discovered we were still in the room she said she would call back, to which she did at 8.45 which was ridiculous as we were checking out that day so the room should not have been done until we left. Overall it was good but for a 4 star hotel the staff were very poor except for at reception, the girls there were excellent, and also with a bit of a let down and false advertising on the food front i would rate the hotel 3 star, maybe in higher season the standards might be better.

Lovely hotel. I think we were just unfortunate that a wedding party were on our floor and kept us awake until 6am. But this would not stop us staying here again. Food and location great! Will definatly stay again.

Myself and my husband had a one night stay in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire. The rooms were very nice and I have say the bed was one of the most comfortable I have even slept in. The Hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and professional at all times. The atmosphere in Hardy's Bar was very inviting and again bar service was excellent. Breakfast was a treat which we both thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend this hotel and plan to visit it again in the near future.

We had a really lovely break in this hotel. Staff were friendly and very helpful . Hotel food lovely but drink very expensive so expensive we only had the one. Situation of the hotel was beautiful looking out onto the promenade. Dun laoghaire a lovely spot u wouldn't realise you were in Dublin. We will return to this hotel again good time had by both kids and parents. Four stars.

Very good classy hotel! The room we got however was not facing the sea and a bit small, but the bed was massive. Try asking for a sea view (not sure if they give this for Lidle breaks). We asked for a late check out (2pm) and this was no problem. The pool, steam room, hot pool facilities were very good and relaxing. The breakfast was buffet style an very yummy. The parking was also free which was great. Even after you check out, you can leave your car their for free all day. This was an added bonus the next day while we walked the pier, went to the peoples park market, and shopped in the shopping centre next door.

My only regret was not booking the Hotel for two nights - we arrived to a warm welcome from Reception on Friday evening. Our bedroom was very clean and bright with amazingly comfortable beds. bathroom included individual toiletries, very rare at the moment. after a scrumptious breakfast to include an array of fresh fruits, pastries, various breads and hot food buffett, we enjoyed a swim, sauna and jacuzzi, again we were very well look after by the professional Leisure facilities staff. i look forward to returning for a longer stay in the very near future to the Royal Marine Hotel Dun Laoghaire. The Royal Marine lives up to its billing. From the moment we arrived the staff were very courteous and efficient and made us feel at home. The room was excellent although I am glad we chose to upgrade to a sea view room as it is well worth it for the view! For the price we paid from Lidl-Breaks this was an absolute bargain and I will probably stay here again for concerts in the future as it is so handy for the DART.

As usual the Royal Marine lives up to its reputation as being a first class hotel. Three of us enjoyed an upgrade which was fabulous, staff great and spa treatments wonderful. What more can i say. One tiny remark, the information book in the room states breakfast served until 11am when in fact it is 10.30am as we found out when we went down for it at 10.45. The stroke of a pen would rectify this rather than having to pay a fortune to have the books updated. Regards Carmel Ryan

We had a wonderful one night stay in The Royal Marine Hotel. Our room was fabulous with a large double and a single bed overlooking Haigh St. Every member of staff was polite and helpful and the breakfast was really tasty. Best of all was the location; step outside the Main entrance and you are a few steps to the beautiful Marina. We could have been in the south of France. Shopping is on your doorstep too and the icing on the cake was..... THE PARKING is FREE !!

I STAYED HERE FOR THREE NIGHTS WHILE ATTENDING A CONFERENCE OVER THE WEEKEND. THE HOTEL IS BEAUTIFUL AND WELL MAINTAINED. THE STAFF WERE ALL VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. I HAVE ONLY ONE RECOMMENDATION - THE GYM AND POOL ARE NOT OPEN UNTIL 8AM OVER THE WEEKEND AND THIS MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GET THERE IN THE MORNING AS CONFERENCE STARTED AT 9AM EACH DAY& DID NOT FINISH UNTIL 10PM. IT WOULD BE NICE IF IT OPENED AT 7AM OR IF GUESTS COULD USE GYM AT 7-8 IF THEY HAD SIMILAR TIME CONSTRAINS. OTHER THAN THAT THE HOTEL MET ALL MY NEEDS AND I WAS REALLY IMPRESSED WITH THE BED...REALLY COMFORTABLE- LOVELY ROOM. GREAT HOTEL WOULD DEFINATELY STAY AGAIN AND RECOMMEND TO FRIENDS.

Im looking forward to going back there again for a longer break. Kay & Karen

Four of us had a great stay in the Royal Marine Hotel last weekend. Previously stayed in this hotel for a few days last October and returned for the service, location, comfort and service. Staff very friendly and very obliging. Great choice for breakfast and bar food excellent. We had a meal in the nearby Hartley's restaurant which was excellent. Will return again in the summer to enjoy the fine walks and beautiful scenery nearby.

My daughter and I stayed in the Royal Marine last Saturday 21st April for her birthday. We love this hotel. I happen to be a member of the Health Club. Got an upgrade which cost only €10 extra and boy what is worth it. Swimming pool Sauna and Jacuzzi all great. The hotel was very busy which is great to see in this climate. The vintage fair was on the next day which we attended. Great breakfast and staff wonderful. Can't wait for my next stayover. Carmel Ryan

Everything was lovely apart from the breakfast service as i felt they may been overbooked or undermanned with overflow tables being used (which was fine) with nothing set up on them (milk, sugar, cutlery, etc), also as we were sat in the lobby, teas and coffees took a lot than expected to arrive. The hotel itself is a great mix of old and new. the pool, sauna, steamroom, and gym were all well equipped as was the room. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend to a friend

We had a most enjoyable stay at the Royal Marine Hotel on 16th March. After our arrival we relaxed in the pool , hydro pool and steam room - the staff were so friendly and helpful there. The restaurant satisfied our hunger and was very reasonably priced. We loved the beautiful breakfast on St.Patrick's morning which sustained us well into the day after our brisk walk on the pier in front of the hotel.Thank you so much.

A perfect stay. The staff, especially the check-in staff could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was beautiful and the tea we had for breakfast and later by the open fire was the best I ever had in a hotel. The location is gorgeous. This hotel is much better with its facilities and location than central city hotels. There was some noise because of parties in the hotel but apart from that it was perfect. Can't wait to return.

Cathy scored 4 / 5 on 06/03/2012

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and the room was comfortable. We were attending a party there, so we didn't have a meal but there was finger food at the party and it was really lovely so I'd say the meals are just as good. Breakfast was also very nice. I didn't get to use the spa unfortunately but it looked fab - next time maybe?! I couldn't fault this hotel and the price we paid was excellent, I just don't feel that we used all the facilities enough to give it a better rating.

review by Lorraine on 6th March, 2012. Lovely hotel: rooms very spacious and beds very comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, and plenty of varied food to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed my two trips to the swimming pool, hydra pool, and sauna. Everything is situated very central to the hotel, church, shops, harbour walks, which are within easy walking distance. I enjoyed my weekend stay so much, that I have already booked another weekend to stay there in the summer. Thanks Lidl for such great value breaks!
