We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge. We found the hotel clean and the staff were friendly and professional. The location of the hotel was ideal being so close to the city centre. We would definitely recommend the hotel for a city break.

Kenneth scored 3 / 5 on 27/11/2022

The room was good, not great. Room cleaned at 16.45. late as we were back at the hotel. The water did not run away from the shower, could do with unblocking. Fire alarm at 6am down the stairs to reception, no apology for false alarm. Breakfast was not hot. Maybe I could have used a microwave to heat it but I didn't expect to have to. So a good hotel in need of a bit better management. I stay at this chain regularly and normally very good.

Dave scored 5 / 5 on 20/11/2022

Patricia scored 3 / 5 on 11/11/2022

Great location. Disappointed with the breakfast. No bacon or black pudding available at 9.30am. Found it unusual that we had to order fried or poached eggs to the table which took ages to arrive.

Great hotel , nice rooms and lovely breakfast

Carol scored 4 / 5 on 05/11/2022

We had a lovely stay in this hotel. Room was very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The only thing I could complain about was the menu for food. I’m a fussy eater and found it hard to find something I would eat.

Richard scored 5 / 5 on 31/10/2022

Henry scored 4 / 5 on 30/07/2022

Great looking exterior with interesting background history. Would have appreciated some more details for non Masonic visitors. Interior very modern in contrast. Rooms fine but no aircon in our room. One lift not working and the other very slow. Underground ( Grandstand) restaurant/bar area was comfortable. Didn’t eat in the hotel, apart from light breakfast. Overall perfect for our requirements and good value.

Declan scored 4 / 5 on 03/03/2022

great hotel lovely bar close to aviva

Lisa scored 3 / 5 on 03/03/2022

Not 4 star standard. No drinking water in the old fashioned room, no fridge, no spare pillows or towels, no aircon, no shampoo /conditioner, limited menu, poor service in the restaurant. Rooms were not soundproof and also were really warm and you cannot change the temperature. If you are visiting the aviva it is a good location. However I would not recommend for a nice night away, you will be disappointed.

Martin scored 3 / 5 on 28/11/2021

Good location when going to the Aviva. Good breakfast, overall a good stay.

Niamh scored 4 / 5 on 23/11/2021

We had a lovely trip. The hotel was beautifully decorated. Reception at check in could have been a bit friendlier. Even though the hotel restaurant was very busy for dinner it was all a bit chaotic and we waited long periods of time to order or receive drinks. The hairdryer in the bedroom didn't work but it wasn't a big issue overall it was a lovely stay and I would definitely go back.

Deirdre scored 4 / 5 on 23/11/2021

Lovely hotel ...room was nice good size. Had a good meal in the restaurant, drinks in the bar. Staff were very pleasant & friendly. Breakfast was really lovely. Great buffet

Fiona scored 4 / 5 on 16/11/2021

Lovely hotel. Rooms great. Reception not so great. Couldn't check in at 1.00 and pay and get our room keys which I don't understand as although the room wasn't ready we only wanted to leave our bags, pay and get our keys as we didn't return until 11.oo pm. At this stage they couldn't find our booking, then couldn't locate our bags so we had to go into back rooms to find same. We paid one room with Revolut and our friends tried paying with cards on phone which didn't work. They offered cash but were told they had no change. The following day after we had returned home I received an email saying a room hadn't been paid for and requesting payment. I rang my friend who advised when they went to check out and pay they were advised the room was paid for and they assumed their credit cards had worked. I had to ask them to ring hotel and pay. Not very good service.

I stayed in Clayton Ballsbridge last weekend with my friends for catch up. From start to finish this was a fabulous stay. Staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. It was very safe all COVID 19 guidelines adhered to and we felt very safe at all times. Fabulous room, food with lovely areas to sit in and enjoy our break. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will be returning for another break soon. Excellent Hotel.

Alan scored 5 / 5 on 02/08/2020

Recently stayed in the hotel for one night for dinner bed and breakfast. All the staff were very friendly and approachable despite working under very difficult circumstances. The dinner was amazing, I had the salmon salad for stater, really nice. I had steak and my girlfriend had the lamb option as mains and we both loved the food, it really was top quality. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent. Will definitely return again shortly.

April 2017 I spent two nights at The Clayton, Ballsbridge. The room was very spacious and the beds very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and efficient. The hotel is quite big, with plenty of areas to sit and chill; the bar food is good and served til late. Breakfast also good.Good location. Imelda C

Hotel excellent. Bed very comfortable. Staff lovely. Breakfast excellent. Only complaint our room was beside the lift which was quite noise. But overall great stay.

Julieb scored 5 / 5 on 24/12/2016

This hotel has real class. It is elegant, stately and full of very helpful staff. I have stayed here twice in the past 2 weeks and plan a third stay at the end of the year. It is about 6 kms from central Dublin and is very handy to public transport, both buses and the local city train.. A taxi trip to the airport cost me 30 Euro and only took 1/2 her which was very handy and the airport bus, number 702 stops right outside the hotel gates for easy access both to and from Dublin airport. The 4 and 7 buses stop right outside the hotel and take you into the CDB in about 20 minutes. The cost is around 2.70 euro. I thoroughly recommend this hotel, especially when you can get a room with the B&B deal offered on occassion by hotels.com and Irish rail service - hotel section. You won't regret your decision.

Excellent Hotel, Location, Staff and Breakfast were all very good. would highly recommend as it is very close to town with good transport links

Albert scored 1 / 5 on 04/12/2016

Stayed for 2 nights and found it one of the worst experiences for a Dublin hotel. Stayed here many times when under Bewley's brand and never had any problems. Waited over 40 mins to get a drink in the bar on the first night and had to send food back as covered with vinegar when it arrived. Was told this is the way they come but not noted on menu. (Chicken wings) Second morning at breakfast, having been shown to our table, went to self service area to return and find the table had been given to another guest. Had cereal and juice and went to get Irish breakfast at self service area once again to return and find the table cleared and reset for another party. All in all found the service poor and more geared towards volume rather than guest experience.

A fabulous hotel in a wonderful setting. The staff were very professional, courteous, friendly and very helpful. The rooms were spacious, very comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was fresh, clean with nice toiletries. The breakfast was plentiful with hot and cold choices and very tasty.

Wendy scored 4 / 5 on 07/11/2016

The hotel was spotlessly clean, there was plenty for breakfast. Brilliant value for what we paid. Parts need a bit of an update but overall a very nice hotel. Staff on reception were very pleasant and efficient.

Seamus scored 5 / 5 on 07/11/2016

This is one of the best hotels in Dublin. Located in Ballsbridge, a 2 minute walk from the DART station or a short taxi ride to anywhere in the city centre, it is my favourite hotel location. The rooms were recently upgraded and the food is excellent. Would recommend!

Lar scored 3 / 5 on 05/11/2016

Value was amazing but really disappointed with food in main restaurant. We waited over an hour for our main course and the food was warm at most. Will use lidl breaks again but will be sure to demand higher standards for food from hotels.

Karen scored 2 / 5 on 25/10/2016

Found hotel room v cold n terrible smell when we arrived bar staff under pressure n v rude food took over 40 mins n when it arrived it was cold .we were attending a show n when we returned to bar later that night bar staff asked if my husband was capable of having another drink which he took huge offence when he'd only had 4 pints previously while bar staff were serving the afters of a wedding crowd who were very drunk and loud downing shots !! Car park is an absolute joke too!

Maurice scored 3 / 5 on 10/10/2016

great value stay for one night. however , at check in being asked to pay in advance in full for your stay is not good practice especially when you are informed that if you dont pay they cant issue the keycard

This was good enjoyed the hotel, room clean and spacious. Breakfast chef, well not so good on hot food, but everything else well laid on and lots of. Hot breakfast rasher burnt to a cinder and the rest cold. Bar food well try it yourself.

Kevin scored 4 / 5 on 31/01/2016

The Clayton Ballsbridge is ideally located for any events in RDS or Aviva Stadium and is a stones throw from the Dart station. The rooms are spacious and clean although some corridors are in need of an update. The breakfast menu is extensive and of high quality. Parking charge for hotel guests is a disappointment. Would recommend hotel for business or leisure.

Very good value, lovely building in great location. Staff helpful to very helpful.

Nuala scored 4 / 5 on 15/01/2016

Very nice room, great breakfast, lovey staff, good bar food in very friendly atmosphere. Only complaint was €12 for overnight parking is very steep.

Siobhan scored 3 / 5 on 30/12/2015

We atayed here on 27th Dec. The hotel room was very nice we were traveling with 2 small children and it suited our needs. We ate in the hotel bar and service was very poor Food was just ok. This was maybe due to the hotel being very busy. You also have to pay €12 for overnight parking which I thought was a bit steep.. Definitely not a 4star hotel.

Colm scored 5 / 5 on 11/12/2015

Great Hotel - very good selection for breakfast.

We enjoyed a two night B&B Lidl Break during the third week of November 2015 (€166 plus parking of €24). The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff which we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast menu choice was excellent and very tasty. The food in Tom's bar was excellent also (but a €5 charge for a large bottle of water was a little 'steep'). As the hotel is a €2.55 single bus fare to Grafton/O'Connell Street (with a bus stop at the gate of the hotel) it is a very convenient location for 'Christmas Shopping'!!! We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return there in the future.

Dean scored 5 / 5 on 16/11/2015

Really beautiful hotel. The room was lovely and exactky what you wanted not to big just the right size. The staff were extremely helpful in anything we did and the price of the room for bnb for 2 of us was excellent especially in the middle of ballsbridge. The breakfast was brilliant the selection was unbelievable catering for all. Really enjoyed our stay and if I'm looking to stay in dublin again the clayton would definitely be high on my list of hotels to stay in.

Pol scored 3 / 5 on 24/08/2015

Nice hotel, great location only used this for one night and requested a quiet room as my Daughter had just recovered from surgery. There was a wedding at the hotel and unfortunately we were backing on to the bar and could hear the loud music all night, the window in the room would not close and requested that someone would come to fix it but unfortunately no one arrived so we just had to wait it out. Other than that the hotel, breakfast, staff and location were very nice.

Ainphe002 scored 5 / 5 on 24/08/2015

except we got located in a room directly across from a wedding and the music was blaring until 2am

Stayed B&B at Clayton Hotels, Ballbridge, Dublin, 4 weekend of Ed Sheeran concert great value with rate I got through Irish Rail Hotels web site. Hotel was first class on all services provided and even ran bus to concert, fantastic value at €10.00 return. Will definitely stay here again.

Laura scored 4 / 5 on 19/07/2015

We enjoyed our midweek break at the Clayton Hotel. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and the night time bar staff were extremely friendly. I was a little disappointed at how basic the bedroom was, considering a 4**** Hotel. However basic our room was though, it was spotlessly clean which is most important.

E scored 4 / 5 on 19/07/2015

Nice hotel, great location for Ballsbridge and Rds.Comfy beds and bedlinen. Not the most inspired breakfast but served hot and plentiful.Staff impersonal but exactly what you expect for a large hotel.Car park 12 hour for 24hrs.

Kevin scored 5 / 5 on 15/07/2015

Everything was nice, the staff, the food and the location. The only negative was the lack of electrical outlets next to the bed, for those using a CPAP machine. The hotel on the day was very busy but the staff kept up with all the demands put on them. To be honest the breakfast was one of the finest breakfast I ever had at a hotel. Great taste and plenty of choice. I will stay here again.

Niamh scored 5 / 5 on 11/07/2015

Very friendly and efficient staff. Rooms immaculate and large Nice pub and restaurant inside, lovely grounds outside. Location not central but a bus stops right outside to take you into centre. Bus also stops outside to transport to the airport. Excellent Restaurants, Pubs and US Embassy in 10 minute walking distance Would highly recommend

Val scored 3 / 5 on 11/07/2015

A bit of a puzzle getting from underground car park to reception and then having to change lifts again to get to room. Reception was fast and efficient, rooms were ok, could have been water to drink in the room, otherwise comfortable, warm and breakfast was acceptable. The one nasty element of our stay was the imposition of a €12 charge for our car on top of the bill at the end. Very nasty.

Nalcona scored 4 / 5 on 10/06/2015

We had beautiful stay in Hotel Sunday night, got upgrade free to super airy comfortable room. Breakfast excellent & staff very pleasant all round Only small negative (other than being charged twice in error) was that Iron, Nespresso maker & ironing board in executive level were damaged but working perfectly

Carole scored 4 / 5 on 11/05/2015

We stayed recently at Bewleys Ballsbridge. Very convenient location. The overnight charge for car parking - €12 - is rather steep. We got our room at very good value through Lidl Breaks. One of the very good receptionists waived our car park charge - very decent of him, I must say. The room was good. No fridge. No tissues. There were two bottles of water - at a charge of €4 each - now THAT is ridiculous. Breakfast next morning was top class. What a selection. Overall - I would give this hotel a 4 star rating and would definitely stay there again.

Dorte scored 5 / 5 on 08/05/2015

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The bed was comfortable. The food was very good. Friendly staff and everything was very clean. the hotel was very central for me.

Jesyca scored 2 / 5 on 05/05/2015

Great first impression when walking into the reception very well decorated and the staff where nice and welcoming. The bedroom suite was very basic though and wasent as nice as I was expecting also during our stay I was disturbed a lot as the door seems to let a lot of noise in when there are guests passing by which were very loud. The doors also slam if you don't shut them yourselves. The glasses and mugs we had in the room where also not cleaned to a high standard and really put me off using them. However the breakfast the next morning made up for some negatives as it was great quality well cooked food with lots of selections. I would come back for use of the restaurant but not to stay the night.

Sm scored 4 / 5 on 13/04/2015

Great location and enjoyed a beautiful dinner and breakfast the following morning. We paid to be upgraded to the executive rooms and while they were nice they did appear to be the standard of a 3-4 star hotel and apart from a nespresso machine and welcome tray it is not really worth the upgrade.

Hobgoblin scored 4 / 5 on 07/04/2015

Great hotel, location & great value through TodayFM Breaks. Parking rate isn't too bad and the breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay again.

Siobhan scored 4 / 5 on 24/03/2015

Had a great stay in this hotel, the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was perfect, buffet style, couldn't ask for more. The bar area is nice and cosy even though it is quite large. Stayed in one of the executive rooms on the second floor, nicely decorated and comfortable. It is a bit far out from the city centre but the bus stop is right outside, we walked in and were at the bottom of Grafton Street within 35 minutes. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Verna scored 5 / 5 on 15/03/2015

Lovely Hotel. Clean. Friendly staff and a great location.

Light scored 4 / 5 on 27/02/2015

I would give this Hotel a 5 star rating but for the fact we asked for a quiet room, and the room we were allocated was behind a life shaft, where there was no excessive noise during the night from this life it started before 6am in the morning ,so what part of "quiet room" was not understood ? The food was excellent both in the evening and for the breakfast, room was very clean and nothing out of place there , but please Bewleys when a quiet room is requested please allocate one . D.Murphy . Wexford . Thank you Lidl excellent value break .

We booked an overnight deal with bed and breakfast and evening meal for our wedding anniversary. We were very pleased, the meal was wonderful, food was excellent and service was very good. Also the room was nice and also the breakfast the next morning was excellent. Beautiful building and good location, nothing negative accept paying 12 euro for parking actually adds to the price which is a little bit sneaky.

Extremely disapointed. Staff were rude and unhelpful. It costs 12€ for the car park for the night. Only provided one towel for two people and had to go searching for more. One of the plugs was broken and the hairdryer smelt like burning. Toilet wouldnt flush properly. Really disappointed

Bewleys Hotel was everything I expected it to be. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I would have been running around Dublin on buses looking for where I wanted to be but the staff saved me a lot of time and energy with their great directions. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and have all the extra towels you need. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I recently stayed in this hotel for a Wedding and it was a great hotel to stay. Room very comfortable, function room for the wedding was great and the food was just brilliant. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar area is great to just hang out and have a sing-song or chat to friends Lovely to have the guy playing the piano too and available for guests who want to play. Great value for money and I would definitely stay here again.

Didn't expect to see scaffolding in the front foyer on arrival. Manager was very nice and apologised for the inconvenience caused. Room was clean ,comfortable ,lacked a small fridge as is the case in all Bewleys hotels. Breakfast was fresh and plenty of choice. I would stay there again as the location is perfect for the bus route into city centre

Well i was looking forward to our stay in this hotel. when we got there they had not got our booking . they asked me to wait while they look into it. i had to email booking of my phone with booking number etc. then she said was it room only. so i had to show my email again. asked us to wait while i think manager went to look it up. take a seat but they all low seats. I on two sticks and hard to get up of low seats. then i went back over to reception, and they had it fixed up . had to pay 12e for parking. Another woman came over to desk and complained about waiting and parking too. Got to room, and then down to get dinner. So looking forward to dinner and was happy it fixed up. Got our orders, Half a chicken and veg and potatoes ordered. So disappointed, more like chicken thigh and 4 little baby potatoes. one floret of cauliflower and one brocolli. Gravy not very tasty. Tried to catch waiters eye a few times to ask for mashed potatoes but no they too busy. I know flower show was in RDS, but they should have been ready for crowd. restaurant was not that busy. Chip shop would have been better. I not that hard to please but if i gave that up at home, i would get some looks. Anyway the receptionist apologised for wait in morning, re. booking. and hooray the breakfast was wonderful. I was so disappointed with dinner. Julie

We have stayed in Bewleys many times more so in Leopardstown as we are keen racegoers. We stayed in Ballsbridge this time as we had business to conduct and this location suited. I am sad to say that this was not altogether a positive experience, at check in the details of our package seem to come as a surprise to the receptionist, as reservations were closed for the night, we arranged to check the details in the morning. At this point, let me admit that I should have printed my reservation details, and I had not done that. The next morning I checked at Reception, and as luck would have it, I met with the same receptionist that I checked in with, she confirmed that our package included B&B and dinner for 2 for 2 nights. When we had dinner on the second night, we were presented with a bill for that dinner, and confusion reigned once again, I explained the situation all over again and after protracted negotiations all was ok. However, I felt extremely uncomfortable , and got the name of the person who seemed to be in charge, a very nice lady called Linda Dignam, I told her that on my return home, I would forward her details of my reservation which I did. I would like to add that the Bewleys experience was excellent as always, but on this occasion it would appear that there was a breakdown in communication somewhere along the line.

We loved our stay at. Bewelys balls bridge for 3 nights. After a frustrating check in and had to change rooms 3 times, the hotel couldn't do enough for us. My husband had been in hospital and the attention he received was 10 star. I have to compliment everyone but a special thanks to Gavin in the resturant. A very relaxing and comfortable hotel. Just loved it. Breakfast excellent, can't wait until we book another lidl break, marvellous value. Mrs M Montgomery I would say it was 4 star plus. Definitely 5 star treatment.

When booking I requested a double room suitable for a disabled person and a twin room to be interconnecting. The rooms we were assigned to were miles apart. We eventually got sorted and were given rooms opposite each other which was fine. Even though I booked breakfast for 4 people the receptionist insisted that I had only paid for two until I produced my confirmation details. Other than that everything else was fine. Breakfast was lovely and the location was very suitable for us and price was great with Bargain Breaks!

Absolutely fantastic is the bext way to put our stay. The service we received from the Receptionist, Niamh, was second to none. Any of the staff that we met were wonderful and warm and friendly. The room was fantastic, clean and spacious. The food was lovely, would perhaps like to have seen more fresh fruit as an option but with the exception of that I could say anything but positive things. I cannot wait to go back for our next trip. Thank you for helping us to have a wonderful stay.

I had booked a family room but was given a room with one double bed and a single bed. I queried this and was told that I had been given the wrong room. I therefore had to pack everything again and relocate to the correct room. No information file in the bedroom - this was the first time that I had come across this having stayed in many hotels worldwide. No children's Room, this would have been a great benefit to us and would have enabled me ( a weary and exhausted mother) to have a rest. Otherwise staff very pleasant, we had a nice stay, the children loved the pancake maker at breakfast, Thank you, Aoife

Not impressed with my stay in this hotel last week. I was overcharged on check in. The bathroom was dirty and water lodged in both the sink and bath. TV wasn't working. My meal - well that was a joke - my steak was so tough that when I went to cut it, my plate ended up on the floor in bits! Certainly, wouldn't recommend this hotel and will not stay here again.

The Hotel was wonderful. in an Ideal location. We traveled by train then a short Dart journey to Sandymount and the Hotel was just down the road. The building and gardens are fabulous and staff very friendly and helpful. Our bedroom had everything, gowns, extra towels, toiletries, face cloths, tea coffee and a big flat screen TV on the wall.. The only fault I had was the pillows were too thick and hard - apart from that it was perfect. Breakfast in the morning had everything even freshly made pancakes. We would highly recommend this hotel and will try to book it on our next trip to Dublin. Thank you Lidl. Star rating 5

Recently staed in Bewley's hotel, Ballsbridge with two young children. I would have to stay I was very impressed with the hotel from start to finish. We were greeted at reception in a friendly and informative manner. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bar area was roomy and bright and the breakfast was excellent with a huge variety of cold and hot choices (very imporpant when travelling with fussy eaters). Overall a very enjoyable stay and will definitely return.

A very pleasant stay at Bewleys Ballsbridge, found the staff extremely pleasant & accommodating throughout. We had a refurbished family room with a double bed + double bunkbed which was perfect for two adults &three kids. The hotel is well located in Ballsbridge directly beside the RDS. Underground parking at the hotel is charged at a rate of 12 euro which is ok for Dublin! Overall very pleased with the stay & would definitely recommend as a family friendly property.

Hotel was great value. Our room was very spacious and newly decorated so was fresh and clean. The breakfast did not disappoint either . It was freshly cooked, hot and there was plenty of choice for both adults and children. Overall it both the room and breakfast exceeded our expectations as it only cost €49 per person for both bed and breakfast. A real find and we will book again on our next trip to Dublin.

We had a nice night in the hotel in early January. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable and had a warm duvet. Food was good although it would be nice to have a fresh fruit salad available at breakfast. Reception staff were efficient but not very friendly whereas restaurant staff were really lovely. Good value and great location.

Squib scored 4 / 5 on 14/01/2014

Excellent value for the price we paid. Food of a very high standard. Staff very friendly throughout the premises. Bedrooms of a very high standard considering the hotel is only 3 star. Plenty of heat and bathroom products. Hotel ideally situated in Ballsbridge e.g next to the RDS and many fine Irish bars and restaurants. As it is a personal choice, we would have liked a little music in the hotels bar on the night of stay (Saturday) rather than having to leave the premises to find some, as the bar area is a particularly cosy place to sit it however, this did not take away in the slightest from the quality of the overall experience. This hotel is to be recommended to others.

William scored 3 / 5 on 13/01/2014

Stayed in Bewleys Hotel Ballsbridge for two nights recently while on business in the city. Overall a good experience but there were a few things which I imagine patrons find irritating. Firstly a car parking charge of twelve euro per day for guests is a bit Irish. Drink prices in the bar are high, even by Dublin standards. Our double room was clean, quiet and comfortable but smallish, as was the shower. The hotel boasts a four star rating but I would consider it to be more like three star. On the plus side however, the hotel is in a good location, the staff friendly and efficient, the food good and reasonably priced. The service was good and the atmosphere relaxing. Breakfast particularly good.

Have stayed at this Hotel many times before, but this trip was amazing!! This was the second time I had booked this hotel through Lidl breaks, as it was a much better deal than booking direct with Bewleys!! We had a fabulous room the first time with Lidl breaks, so we requested it again, but it was not available, so the lovely guy on reception was very apologetic and booked us into the Tower Suite at no extra cost!! It was fantastic, we had incredible views of Dublin and it was so cosy and comfortable, I wish I could have stayed longer. The breakfast was lovely, and the hotel generally is well located and a very pleasant place to stay. I would highly recommend this hotel and it will be my first choice on my next trip to Dublin. Thank you. A definte 5 stars!!

Stayed at the Hotel last weekend, the Hotel is listed as as 4 star, it is a 3 star at best the rooms are average, on arrival I was put into a smoking room on the second floor (which I didnt request) the room had an awful smell of smoke and there was no way I would have been able to sleep in the room, the room was dated as well. In fairness I queried it with reception and they admitted it was a smoking room and changed me to another room on the fourth floor, this room was much nicer than the room on the second floor and had a new contemporary bathroom and walnut furniture. There are refurbishments taking place in the hotel at present and the rooms are being upgraded, so the quality of the rooms will change no doubt. In the evening I had a drink in the downstairs bar which was lovely. During the day we had soup and sandwiches in their cafe before heading into town for some shopping, it is a handy place to eat and you avoid the hassle of getting something to eat in the city. The hotel is convenient if you are attending a match in the RDS or the Aviva Stadium, there are bus stops nearby and the DART is 1 mile away at Sydney Parade, a word of warning, parking is 10 euro per night , and should really be free to residents. In all I was happy enough with our stay.

On check in the receptionist was very helpful in relation to restaurants in the area and booked for us at no extra cost. There was a good selection of food at breakfast. The hotel had a nice atmosphere and clients were of a mixed type, tourists, families and business travellers. Access to the hotel is easily found. The carpark is 10 euros for overnight parking. Myself and my family stayed in Bewleys Hotel for one night. The staff were very friendly and helpful and extremely courteous at all times. Breakfast was excellent. The room was clean but a little cramped for two adults and two children (couch was turned into a pull out bed, room included a single and double bed also) with no view from the window other than a brick wall which was a little disapointing as it made the room feel even more claustrophobic. If booking again I would be checking the location of the room and that it is suitable to accommodate 4 people.

We had a great stay in Bewleys with our family. The family rooms were perfect for us. There was plenty of room and they were very clean. The breakfast was lovely and the restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having a drink in the bar. We were disappointed that our kids weren't allowed to continue watching the soccer after 9 p.m. and would encourage the Hotel to put a TV in the sitting area outside the bar so that families could be facilitated. Overall the staff were great and offered any assistance when required while letting you get on with your stay. The location of the Hotel is perfect for doing things around the city. We have stayed there before and will certainly stay there again.

Really enjoyed the break. The price was first class, given that we were a family of four staying for 2 nights, with B&B and an evening meal included.....especially given the location, and the fact that we went during a busy Christmas period. I thought the food might have been sub par, but was delighted to get a fantastic steak in the restaurant. My wife and kids also really enjoyed the food. The staff were very friendly, especially after a mix up at one point, and they could not be faulted. I will definitely be back, and would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Dublin, especially at these rates. You are in the very heart of Ballsbridge, and therefore close to the city centre.....a fantastic deal.

We had a great stay at the Ballsbridge Bewleys, We arrived about 8pm for a one night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast stay. Our room was on the 6th Floor, the bed was smallish for hotel standard, but was big enough and very comfortable. The room was clean, and quiet. The Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, high quality, and we had one waitress all night that was very obliging, we left very satisfied. Breakfast was also well organized and of high quality. Only one thing to note is that the hotel charge €10 per night for car parking, which is not mentioned when booking.

Mitch scored 4 / 5 on 03/12/2012

I stayed here for two nights with my daughter, but I have stayed here before. It is extremely comfortable and very, very good value. Our 'all-in' dinner was delicious. It is a 'no frills' hotel, but this doesn't take from its comfort. Buses to and from City Centre run frequently from outside the hotel, and the Dart station is under 10 minute walk. I thoroughly recommend it and if you avail of the Lidl Breaks offer, the value is even better. One warning: car parking is €10 a night, which adds quite a bit if you are staying more than one night.

hotel room was 3 star. Staff were fab in the bar. Staff in the resturant very confused , Differant staff member's at every course they hadn't a clue what they were at. Food very poor . Would not stay there again

Pól scored 3 / 5 on 20/11/2012

Some aspects of the hotel were not up to the standards I expected. The room was not as well equipped as I would have thought, there was no waste bin, no tissues and only one set of towels. The restaurant downstairs was adequate but over priced. The bar was also expensive. In terms of location the hotel was very good and it looks nice both inside and out. Car parking was secure and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful, and through Todayfm hotel breaks the hotel was very reasonably priced.

I booked this hotel with you last year and it was wonderful . This year was a nightmare after waiting an hour for our meal when we finally got it it was stone cold. The waitress spilled a glass of red wine on my clothes which my dress was ruined i got no apology. i had brought my daughter for her birthday and was very upset with the treatment at this hotel . I would not be staying again nor would i recommend it to anyone. Thank you Susan

Couldn't fault anything was attending show in rds perfect location and so easy to get too. Had to prove that tea and coffee was included in package! There was a rude man in the restuarant who told me I was oh so wrong about the coffee but we didnt let him ruin a very enjoyable and tasty meal. The lovely guy on reception was really good very helpful. Would stay again.

The food was amazing, one of the best steaks I have ever had. Friendly staff. I was a little disappointed with my room very old fashioned, dreary decor but functional and extremely comfortable beds. I am all for saving water and resources, but seriously to expect guests in a twin room to use the same towel and only if necessary take out the spare out of a press, a little ott. Similarly, when did it become too expensive to leave out shampoo and a bar of soap and instead opt for industrial grade soap dispensers. Every B+B in the country manages to afford that without loosing out on profits. Breakfast was good. Overall a very enjoyable experience. Would recommend to a friend.

The old part of the hotel is a lovely red brick building. The bedrooms are clean spacious and comfortable. I did not get to sample breakfast as I was staying overnight on a Saturday and had to be at work on Sunday at 7.45 am. Breakfast only starts at 8 am. I know that most people sleep in on a Sunday morning but some of us have to work! Other hotels in the area provide coffee at reception for the working/ graveyard shift folk! There is a €10 parking fee for overnight parking which comes as a slightly unwelcome surprise especially as it is not a city centre location. It is D4 I suppose. But all that said, I would happily stay here again and recommend it to my friends!

Hi We stayed in your hotel the June Bank Holiday Weekend - We were visiting Dublin because our SUPERGARDEN was been viewed in Bloom Festival in Phoenix Park and our garden received a Gold Medal. I loved your hotel, the breakfast was very good, the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The one thing I did feel is that the parking was really expensive. Other than that everything was fine. I certainly would like to come back and stay. Mary Flynn ( Sligo)

Fantastic breakfast next morning, one of the best hotel breakfasts I've had - a very pleasant surprise as was expecting something much more basic. Only negative was a very rude staff member in the bar when we went for a drink in the afternoon. A shame really because the rest of the staff were excellent.

A group of six of us stayed here and found the hotel great. Very convenient to get to from airport on aircoach/in taxis and convenient for town... taxi rank just outside the gate and bus stops on the main road. The service was good and the staff were all friendly and efficient. Breakfast was also very good - excellent selection of continental and full irish. Nice bright tea/coffee area where we lounged around on the day after a night out in town - and one of our group entertained us playing afew pieces on the piano... overall great value on lidlbreaks.ie and a nice place to stay... would stay again and would recommend to others.

I stayed at Bewleys in Ballsbridge last weekend with 3 friends, and we were all very impressed with our stay. Being our first Lidl break we didn't quite know what to expect as the offer seemed too good to be true! Our stay included dinner on both nights & the food was excellent, as was the service by very friendly staff. The hotel itself is lovely & very clean. Very nice clean hotel. Good location. Friendly staff and great food. My only complaint is the fact that the hotel does not accept 1 and 2 cent coins - which I thought were legal tender in Ireland. Overall I had a very pleasant stay.

Mlydly scored 3 / 5 on 01/05/2012

The exterior of the hotel is really nice. However, I was not content with my stay. There was no soap in the bathroom and the light flickered on and off constantly. The dinner was in very small portions, 4 small boiled potatoes between 2 people. If you required a shower cap, this had to be purchased in a pack in the vending machine costing 6 euro.

Mother.bird scored 4 / 5 on 01/05/2012

We really enjoyed our one-night stay at Bewleys in Ballsbridge. We were in Dublin for a show at the O2 Stadium. The hotel was comfortable, clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. We had dinner as part of our 'package' and it was absolutely delicious, as was the breakfast. The Dart station is easily reached on foot, but as it was pouring rain we availed of one of the taxis that are almost always just outside the gates of the hotel. There is underground parking which cost €10 overnight. Although this is now common practice, I do think that residents of a hotel should be given overnight parking in the cost of the hotel. I would certainly stay here again. And with pleasure.

FC & MC 17 March 2012. We have always stayed in Bewleys Hotel D 4. Having always enjoyed our previous experience. Unfortunately on this occassion our two night stay was marred by some inexperience staff members. The Restaurant checkin / checkout member of staff; Were not familar with lidl's booking dealS of terms & conditions? We had to explained that Dinner & Breakfast was included in Lidl's break on our two night stay? Upon checking out at reception, We found that they were charging us (42 Euro) for Dinner, on one night of our stay? Reception Gentleman would not accept our explaination, that he was wrong? Long story cut short:- He refused to correct the bill. Stating the fault lyes with Lidl? On our return home we doubled checked Lidl's Webbsite and found Bewleys were wrong. Shame on them? We phoned and informed Bewleys Hotel of our findings. Two days later we checked again with Bewleys, which they confirmed by e-mailed stateing they will credit our credit card by the overcharged sum. No apologies what so ever. "Shame on them "

Overall we were very unhappy with the service in this hotel. The building is lovely and the location is ideal but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Most of our issues arose around breakfast - at least two of the staff working there had no English at all. We are not against people from different countries but what is the sense in employing people in the 'service' industry with no English. Two mornings in a row I was looking for a high chair for my 1 year old and I had to go around the breakfast room like an idiot trying to find a waitress who spoke English to understand my request. To me this level of service is unacceptable. My other bone of contention was that while queuing for the hot breakfast counter I had my breakfast on my tray with a glass of orange juice, the chef while handing out a breakfast to another person knocked my glass of orange juice all over my breakfast and he just glared at me as if it was my fault. He didn't even apologise. The breakfast room was generally utter chaos, no one in charge showing people where to sit, no one clearing tables and in the end I had to clear a table myself in order to sit down. I would not stay in this hotel again

Enjoyed our stay in Bewleys Ballsbridge. Food very good. Room clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly especially in the bar. Very very disappointed that we had to pay 10 euro per day for car park charges. It means even though Lidl break very competitive, the cost goes up because of the car park charges. Have not been to other hotels where we had to pay except one but it was definitely not as expensive as 10 euro per day. The hotel is in a great location for public transport with bus and dart nearby. Thanks for lovely short break.

The bedroom was o.k, looked like the wallpapper had been painted over at some stage and i know this may sound strange but i also couldnt quite understand the picture that was hanging on the wall either? Other than that the bedroom was ok, pity that the balcony was also locked. Bathroom was nice and clean. Dinner was very tasty in their resteraunt, the steak was great !And breakfast was great, basically all you could want... Car park was good but a pity that it was over 10 euro per nite for this! Staff seemed alrite also... The bar also seemed nice and their soup was very nice.... Overall myself and my girlfriend were happy enough with our getaway for the nite.

The starters were great but the main course was really special, the chicken, salmon and hake, cooked and served to perfection. We were prepared to pay for our desserts, but they weren't appealing enough. Breakfast the next morning was also included in the price, and it was great too. This deal is unbeatable. The rooms were lovely, clean and tastefully decorated The staff were friendly and helpful. Already we are looking for an excuse to stay again. And even if we weren't staying we felt we would make an effort to eat in the restaurant if we were anywhere in the area when in Dublin.

The hotel was very comfortable and I have no complaints. The Lidl breaks are an excellent idea and superb value for money. I recommend Lidl breaks to anyone thinking of spending time in irish hotels.

Enjoyed our stay in the hotel immensely. Everything perfect. Room, food, location, staff. One gripe - the car parking charge of e10 per night is excessive.

Our stay was based on the 1 Night, Dinner, B&B Deal for 98euro which we found fantastic value for money! Friendly, helpful staff. Clean comfortable rooms & Great food & tasty self service buffet breakfast. Ballsbridge is a lovely part of Dublin and only a 10 minute bus ride (1.65euro) into the city. Would stay again for sure.

Lidl breaks are excellent value for money, hope they continue to do promote them, also it must be good for the hotels to have more people staying in otherwise empty rooms. Bewleys was very good, rooms adequate, food excellent and staff very pleasant and helpful. Only negatives would be, reception staff a bit on the cold side, regimental sort of, unlike the waiting staff, having to pay for parking adds to the cost. Had an excellent break and will do it again. Thanks Lidl. J & M Donegal

I stayed two nights in Bewleys, Ballsbridge, and it was really lovely. Impressive grounds, lovely sized rooms and just great location. We had a room only deal, which suited us cos I find the kids dont eat much in the mornings. Really clean and enjoyable. The Lidl offer is unbeatable, you cant get that value anywhere else.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break at bewleys hotel. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and warm. The food was excellent in the Brasserie. However, we were booked to go to the O2 for the Strictly show and we felt the enjoyment of our evening meal was affected by the time limit put on us. The restaurant opens at 5.30pm and the bus for the O2 leaves at 6.30pm. The meal was very rushed, by the time you have placed your order and then get served the food we really were watching the clock . it was quite comical at the time as we ended up with 5 mins to order and eat our dessert, which we managed! It could be said why then just not have the main course and leave on time, fact is we paid for 2 courses and that was what we wanted. The waiting staff were fab and knew we needed to be gone asap and the food was also fabulous. We would definetly stay at Bewleys again but It would be so much better if you were attending an event you could go to the restaurant for 5pm. kind regards, sandra johnston

Overall it was an extremely pleasant stay, staff were brilliant, especially in bar and restaurant. Breakfast was very good and evening meals were faultless, compliments to all. Only slightly disappointing was room size, for two adullts staying three nights it was cramped, i do hope it's not because it was an offer break that we were given this size room. But thank you Lidl it was great value for money break and i will be booking again as have many others i have relayed this to.

I found the hotel to be well located and great value for money. Our room was clean and warm. We did not use the restaurant facilities so can not comment on the food. I would have no hesitation in staying at the hotel again.

Lovely hotel....great food...cosy and warm on a snowy winter night...however, why could the footpaths around the hotel not be cleared of snow???? Was here before and I will be back, Rosemary , Longford

We had a great weekend, the hotel is well situated the 7 bus brings you straight into O'Connell St. Nice christmas atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful. The evening meal and breakfast were very nice, the food was fresh and well presented. Excellent value for money. Thanks

The rooms are quite old fashioned and are in need of updating. Drinks in the hotel bar are very expensive, %u20AC5.15 for a pint is too expensive in the current climate especially in a 3 star hotel. Staff were not very friendly or helpful, in the restaurant at dinner or at reception checking in. I have used Lidl- Breaks before and have always found it good value and all other hotels have been very modern and staff very friendly. I was disappointed with Bewleys Hotel Ballsbridge, I feel that because the location is so central they will get clientele regardless so staff are not bothered about return customers.

warm, cosy atmosphere. staff attentitive. Food at dinner excellent choice and variety. Buffet breakfasat fast, well stocked and a wide selection for all tastes. Would highly recommend and will stay there again. Clean, well maintained hotel ideal location for St. Stephens green, Landsdowne Road.

This is a lovely hotel, breakfast was good (just don't go down late as the staff like to clean up), Lidl dinner menu was good and varied and the dinner was yummy. There were supplements required for a few main courses, fillet steak for example. Our room was clean and comfortable but the bed was very squeaky and pillows not great. Lots of snow in Dublin during our stay and it was surprising that the entrance to the hotel was not gritted or salted - quite a few guests slipped / fell when leaving the hotel. However, I would definitely recommend this hotel - great location, clean, comfortable, good food. Lidl breaks are excellent value for money and are always my first stop when thinking of a night away anywhere in Ireland.

Just back from a weekend in Brewleys hotel Ballsbridge, the hotel was lovely, we were heading to the RDS the hotel was perfect as it was just aroud the corner about 2mins walking. The rooms were nice and clean, and quite at night time, which was good as we were traveling with our 14month old son. The lidl breaks are fantastic value for money, %u20AC49 B&B + evening meal, and the food was fab in the hotel, really tasty, staff were lovely too, they couldnt do enough for you in the resturant, staff at reception could be a little bit nicer, wouldnt like to have a run in with any one of them. The breakfast was great, massive choice of everything, Couldnt fault the hotel at all. Will stay there again if im in Dublin,

Lovely location, food first class, staff most helpful and friendly, had stayed in Bewley's before and it would always be my first choice for a Dublin hotel. Lidl-breaks are the best value anywhere - everyone has discovered this hence the reason they get booked up so quickly!
