An average experience. The room was much bigger than a normal family room (after a false start with the receptionist putting us in two bedded room for a family of 4!) It was clean but had a glass divide that could be a danger to young children getting up at night or adults for that matter! Breakfast was ok. The man who served us never spoke - not even to say good morning. It is time he got a new job and should not be dealing with guests. Breakfast was basic but nice. That about sums the experience up - basic but then again for 70 odd euro including breakfast you cant expect much more!

I stayed in The Springfield Hotel for one night on dinner bed and breakfast deal. We received a warm welcome and the lady on reception was very helpful. Our room was warm and comfortable with all mod cons. Seated area was small but relaxing. Although the restaurant was very quiet we were squashed in by a spare table and a wine cooler stand. Our waitress was pleasant and friendly. The meal was ok with my pavlova more like a soggy sponge and teapots etc very grubby. Twice we returned our bill as it was wrong the third time it was still wrong but we paid it anyway . I left my phone charger in the room , I rang when i arrived home they had my charger but i had to wait a week for it to arrive in the post and pay E4 postage even though the postage cost E1.03.

This was our second time to use Lidl Breaks. Our first break was excellent in the City North Hotel in February, where our party could not find any fault with the hotel, food etc. However, our stay in the Springfield was disappointing. We found some of the service by staff quite inefficient with the exception of the gentleman that greeted myself and 2 other members of our party (who had arrived earlier than the remaining 5). Although check in was scheduled for 3.00 he kindly allowed us access to our rooms prior to this. At dinner that evening, we had to wait a while on drinks and when the waitress took the orders for dinner she skipped over me and I had to follow her to place my order. The dinner wasn't great, one member of our party did not eat any of hers at all, her turkey looked like it had been re-heated and the gravy was laced with salt, another had to hand back hers as the meat was cold (the plate was piping hot). The manager did come over to our table and he was informed of this. He offered tha lady who did not eat her food a drink on the house. We had also ordered drinks with our meal and when we asked for the bill the food which we had already paid for was on the bill. On a more positive note, we were there to celebrate one of our friends birthday and the manager provided a desert for the "birthday girl" and shots for us all. The following morning at breakfast, which was a buffet we had a bit of a wait for our tea and toast to have with our breakfast. There was no brown bread available and when the waitress was asked for this we were told toast was the only thing on offer. Also they did not offer any fresh fruit After we had checked out of our rooms 5 of the party were around for a while, we ordered Latte's, but we found that the staff did not seem too impressed with our request. We made the most of our weekend and despite all of the above we did have a good time. However, I would not return to the Springfield but would certainly avail again of the Lidl breaks which are excellent value for money.
