every thing was wonderful but the room as regards to no air in it we felt it was clammy, even with the windows opened one regret was we should have to be asked to be moved to another room.

Hotel was lovely, clean and quite. The breakfast was terrible. Everything was cold even the plates

My family and I had a two night stay at this hotel recently. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the accomodation was very comfortable, and both were great value for money. The hotel is in a great location with scenic views of Clew bay, and a short distance from the town. I would highly recommend this hotel, and I will be going back.

We stayed here a couple of days ago. On our arrival the phone in our room was broken and the bathroom was not cleaned properly. We were upgraded to a bigger family room which was lovely and everything was handled very professionally. The bed was very comfy! The food was great and the staff very attentive. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the pool was closed, so we couldn't use it. They had an option to go to another hotel to use the pool there, but this seemed like too much hassle.

Fabulous Hotel with exquisite restaurant. We visited for my wife's Birthday, the best gift ever. We are looking forward to going back here in the summer.

Great hotel. Quiet location. Restaurant food excellent for dinner and breakfast but bar food second night disappointing and greasy. Room looked onto harbour but other rooms hotel would face onto unattractive car park. Car park v small, best park on street. Swimming pool good but no jacuzzi.

I had a lovely stay in the Westport Coast Hotel. The staff were very accommodating and service was excellent. I had a meal in the Blue Wave restaurant and it was amazing. A few things could have been improved. The steam room in the leisure centre was out of service and filthy. We were not informed of this on entering the pool nor was there a sign up indicating same. Our package included dinner however we were not informed that it was a 2-course meal on the package rather than a 3-course meal. We were charged for the deserts when checking out. These things aside, the location of the hotel is excellent and I would stay here again.

I found the staff at this hotel very helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and the food was amazing. We got a freshly cooked and warm breakfast which we really enjoyed. The only negative thing was there was no Jacuzzi but the leisure centre was very enjoyable and clean and warm for November.

Found the hotel excellent and the food really good. It was great value for money and would highly recommend it. Perhaps they might useWD40 on the lift which squeaks when going up and down otherwise no problems whatsoever.

Loved our stay at the Carlton Atlantic Coast...location was great; hotel was modern and room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Evening meal in the Blue Wave restaurant was really good, and breakfast was also great. Staff were really great - very friendly and welcoming - and this came across as being totally genuine, rather than put on, for the job. The only negative issue was the noise of the lifts operating - very squeaky noise which woke us in the morning, once folks started making their way tot the top floor for breakfast... Overall though, we were well pleased with our stay, and would be happy to return again. - John & Glenice (Co. Kildare).

Cathal scored 4 / 5 on 07/10/2013

Despite our late arrival - the reception staff were helpful and friendly. Room was comfortable and spacious, but very warm and no temperature controls were available in the room. We found the hotel to be located a fair walk from the town centre but was close-by to some shops, cafes and pubs along the quay front, which offered a choice without straying too far. I did find the plates and cups at breakfast a bit dirty - this was disappointing and could be easily addressed. However the food was of a high standard and the restaurant staff were very good. The leisure facilities and spa were top notch. Enjoyed the stay, great value for money break and would certainly consider staying again.

Myself and my partner recently stayed in this hotel. We enjoyed our time in Westport but we did feel a little let down by the hotel as going on the reviews we read before we booked our stay we were surprised that it was not what we expected. On arrival we found the receptionist made no eye contact and seemed distracted by her computer being slow than checking us in, We didnt pay much attention as these things can happen but on regular trips in and out of the hotel not one receptionist looked at us or made any friendly gestures to welcome any guests, they always seemed busy on their computers which we found disappointing as they are the first people you see in any hotel. The room was clean but could be modernised a bit and was very warm so we requested a fan which was no problem. We were facing a car park which was disappointing as there were so many lovely views from the front of the hotel. We made good use of the pool which we enjoyed. The best thing was the breakfast by far and the floor manager seating people for breakfast had fantastic customer service skills. We would visit westport again but do not think we would stay at this hotel again.

Michael scored 3 / 5 on 01/06/2013

The Location was excellent. On arival at reception the receptionist told us to wait as she had to sort keys for a bus load of people. No one was at reception expect us. We walked away and sat on a couch until she was ready. Not exactly the nicest greeting. The dinner was a bit of a nightmare for my wife as she is a vegetarian and there was nothing on the menu for a vegetarian. The waitress said she would ask the chef and came back and told her another man had a pasta dish all week and would she like that. She said no and settled for potatoes and veg. Not what one would expect in a hotel. However the bedroom was so comfortable and warm and we all slept well. There was plenty of hot water also. The rooms were very clean and decor was nice. No complaints here. The car parking was good also. The pool was closed the evening we arrived and we were told it would be open in the morning. Before breakfast we headed down to the pool only to be told it was still closed and would not open until we had left the hotel. The breakfast had a wow factor. The views were stunning and a nice hidden surprise. The staff were so different to the staff in the dining room, no comparison. In the breakfast room they were polite, very friendly, and super efficient. A pleasure to be around. The choice for breakfast was excellent. Despite the bad start we did enjoy our stay. If we were to stay here again we would not opt for a dinner option and would eat outside of the hotel. My wife loves to cook and knows a little about food. The standard in the dining room is letting the hotel down. We did let the hotel know about the menu having no vegetarian menu and they said they would bring it up at a meeting. Thank you to Lidl for making it possible for us to stay in Westport and earlier in Mullingar. Without your breaks we could not afford to go to these hotels so thanks again.

Room was nice, but v warm. We had a nice view Of the harbour, however traffic is noisy from that view point. Fish cafe fish dishes were lovely but non fish lovers will be left disappointed. The burger didn't seem to be freshly prepared. In addition the lobby is small for a pre dinner drink. Finally, I'd like to return with my children as it is v close to Westport House and The hotel does have a kids club which appeared to be full of events for the little ones.

My friend and stayed here at the carlton Atlantic Coast hotel only last week witha super deal on Lidl website, 2 nights bed and breakfast for only €29.99 each per night. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We ate dinner in the hotel bar on the first evening which was really tasty; huge portions too. Very little atmosphere in the bar although it was a Wednesday evening. I very much looked forward to a nice breakfast the following morning and on arrival to the restaurant there was a fantastic array of breads, preserves fruit etc which I tucked into. I ordered the full irish also but it was exceptionally disappointing and tasteless, so much so that I passed on it the following morning. The leisure centre is lovely, it was great because there were very few people in it. We both had a treatment which was on special offer - and it was second to none....hot oil, indian head massage and foot ritual...utter bliss!! will certainly be returning to the Carlton Atlantic but I would hope that they improve somethng simple as their breakfast! Stayed in the Atlantic coast hotel 1st weekend in April, Staff where very friendly and helpful, food was excellent in the Fish restaurant and breakfast was also great. Family room was spacious and clean and kids and wife loved the pool and the spa. Although just outside the town did have amenities right beside it with shops and pubs close by along with Westport House that is just down the road and excellent for Kids.

fantastic stay, staff and everyone were wonderful,,,, i just have one complaint and that is the dishwasher for the breakfast dishes , the filter or something needs to be cleaned or checked, because the dishes at breakfast i had to clean with a napkin before use,, and now im crippled with cold sores since, have not suffered with such in 10yrs,,, and my car got damaged in the hotel car park,,, but all that aside,, staff were brilliant ,, the food,,, the pool,,, and kids club,,, and surrounded by such a view,,, i cant wait to go back,,, i did not want to go home,,, im trying to book again as we speak,,, thankyou all

this was our third visit to the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel and ,as usual, it was a wonderful two days. The hotel itself is all that it claims to be on it`s website but what cannot be appreciated until you visit. is the incredible welcome and friendliness of the entire staff compliment. Nothing is a problem and everyone seems to be intent on ensuring that all their guests have a great experience while staying with them. If I had one complaint, it would be about the quality of the food, it is so good I think I gained about a stone in weight, congratulations to all in the kitchens. Thank you to all at this beautiful hotel.

Nathalie scored 3 / 5 on 14/02/2013

The location of the hotel is great, the breakfast was really lovely but we were disappointed by the room we got. The hotel was nearly empty and we were given a room facing the car park when we could have had a nicer view over the harbour. The leisure centre was disapointing, the swimming pool is fairly small and compared to the hotel we had just been in Roscommon the changing rooms had very little facilities and Ihere was no jacuzzi. The location and the lovely restaurants around the hotel are what really make it for this hotel. The staff I have to say were very friendly and helpful.

as a mature couple we arrived at the hotel on the 16th oct., for a two day stay at the carlton atlantic coast hotel, from the outset with the friendly greeting at the front desk we were made to feel welcome ,the rooms were comfortable ,clean and spacious . As we went on a midweek deal we thought the value was very good ,the first nights meal was really nice as was both mornings breakfasts .For the second nights meal we decided to enquire if it was possible to upgrade to the more expensive menu and we were pleasantly supprised to discover for just an extra 7 euro (for the chosen meal) this was no problem ,it transformed the meal from nice to excellent . Overall a very nice stay . Thumbs up to the staff for a great and friendly (especially restraunt/bar staff) job well done . P.S. We'll be back.

Just back from a short break at the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel. When we checked in the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Our room was on the 1st floor and over looked the carpark, not a nice view but didn't spoil our stay. The room itself was very clean and the decor was nice. We had a meal in the Blue Wave Restaurant which was lovely. The staff here where very nice. Went to Fishworks Cafe bar for a drink afterward but there was a very strong smell of fish so didn't stay to long. The swimming pool was lovely and the staff helpful. Would definitely go back again, have to climb Croagh Patrick next time.

Could not fault the views of Westport where the hotel is situated, however stay was dissapointing , hotel is far from a 4 star hotel, meal in the evening was poor you had to pay 10 euro supplement on some main courses, a supplement on the breakfast such as bagels and 7.50 for a dessert as it was not included in the meal deal . Service was poor towards the end of the meal as a large group of tourists from Spain came in and they appeared to take priority. We asked the waitress for the bill and were waiting 15-20 minutes for it. The manager asked us did we enjoy our meal and we were honest with him and he took the 10 euro supplement off our meal. On the second day of our stay we had a maid attempt to come into our room at 8.30-9.00 to clean the room, she woke us up as she attempted on numerous occassions to open the door. She spoke little english and my fiancee stuggled to explain to her that we were staying for two days. When we arrived home we then received a letter from the hotel stating that we owed them 55 euro as we never showed up for our booking. They made the mistake and had booked us in twice under my name and my fiancees name. We had to wait for a call back over an hr later as they looked into it at all.. I would not be rushing back in a hurry to stay in that hotel when returning to Mayo

Enjoyed stay here, but wouldn't quite put it in the 4* category. Food was excellent and well priced although absence of vegetarian options was a problem for my wife, who had to stick to a caesar salad.. Unfortunately it rained the entire time we we there, so will have to come back to enojy the location in sunshine and would consider this venue again. (On a wet day, visit the Museum of Country Life in Castlebar, or take a longer trip to Foxford)

Hi All, We stayed in the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel from Monday to Wednesday this week, 30th Jan - 1st Feb 2012. We got a great deal on the Lydll site, two night B&B and two evening meals (€196). We found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The room was warm, clean and modern. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. The Cafe bar provided the dinner menu, good food and generous servings. Only negative (in Cafe), was that only one waiter on duty on week day evenings which led to delays in getting orders out in a timely manner. But the waiter had a very nice personality and worked as fast as he could. We took a cab in and out of Westport, very reasonable cost. The Taxi driver gave us relevant information on where to go and what was on, and was available to pick us up again. Everyone we met in Westport were friendly and good natured. Overall, a good mid week break. Thanks to the Carlton team. Best wishes S.Mooney

Lovely hotel. Package included breakfast and dinner and the food was very nice. Only drawback is that the location of the hotel is on the outskirts of Westport. You'll need to get a taxi if heading out at night. Taxi fares are only €6 each way though.

Wonderful hotel. We couldn't fault it in anyway. The rooms were warm, comfortable and clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful. A large choice for breakfast and the dinner was superb. A fine hotel with excellent staff and good location. Free Parking. The attached Fishworks informal restaurant has a great menu and fantastic fish (main Course of Hake,Salad &Homemade Chips an incredibly reasonable €11.95 ) along with more conservative Chicken and Meaty dishes. Breakfast is served in the up-market fourth floor restaurant, with views to Croagh Patrick along with the harbour & seaview.Fresh fish is again available (2.95 Supplement) along with the traditional Good quality buffet Fry Up . Make sure you either bring bikes(and rain gear) or a least hire bicycles in this area to take advantage of the many purpose built and natural SAFE cycling amenities in the vicinity of Wesport, Newport and Achill. Old Railway tracks are converted to Cycling ways which make it suitable for novices and regulars.

Loved the location of this hotel, right across the road from Clew Bay and a playground which our daughter loved, would definitely stay in it again. Also close to West port House which is great for kids and grownups alike.

Lovely location on the Bay... only a short taxi ride into town for a good night craic. dinner in Fish Works was yummy, breakfast was everything you expect from a hot/cold buffet! Hotel was spotless, and staff were really friendly! Would definitely go again

Our stay in the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel was very enjoyable. We were greated warmly on arrival and the room was both spacious and clean. I must say we found the staff in the hotel to be very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and any other light meals we had in the bar were also nice. The leisure centre was both clean and relaxing. A good choice for our needs as only a short drive to Croagh Patrick and only %u20AC6 by taxi to town. Our Lidl break was good value for money.

Hotel was excellent - food, ambience and service - friendly and helpful atmosphere in addition to the great leisure facility. Location and scenery fully complementary of the facility provided.

Stayed in the Carlton in November, and cannot fault it at all. Gorgeous location overlooking the bay.. Rooms are a good size and staff were so friendly and helped with planning out driving routes. We didnt eat in the bar but the food looked really good. The breakfast area is really nice and overlooks the bay. We could see the top of Croagh Patrick as the weather was so clear on our stay! Only bad comment to make is its a pity there isnt a jaczzi or outdoor hot tub at the leisure centre!

Great hotel. Very good customer service, staff very friendly and acconodating. had a great time! Didn't get a chance to check out leisure facilities. Room was first class, as was the breakfast. Think the lidl breaks are excellent value for money. the second one i've been on. Might go for 3 nites next time i think!

Breakfast was lovely :) Rooms were nice, clean but we had a view of the rock face to the rear of the hotel, a bit disappointing in such a lovely place as Westport, other than that the hotel was lovely!

A lovely hotel, in a great location. Ideal for a short break, with lots to do locally - good restaurents, pubs, and close enough to Westport to go wander around the shops if you feel like it! Good value - the hotel was comfortable and the breakfast was good!

Stayed in Atlantic Coast with a group of 7 people on Saturday night , and it was a fantastic relaxing stay..... the hotel is beautiful, great leisure facilities, friendly efficient staff. We ate dinner in the bar and again the food was out of this world. The rooms are bright, airy, spacious and very clean. Breakfast sunday morning was lovely with a great selection of cold and hot buffet. Overall we had a fantastic time, the hotel provides a fantastic service, nice location and was great value for money. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Westport.

Spent a night there which was lovely and peaceful, nice meal and lovely surroundings. Pool is pretty small and had a treatment done thoroughly enjoyed. The room was clean but the water was cold in the morning for a shower. The staff were friendly and there was music in the bar at night which made up for the rest.
