Nice hotel, food was lovely, only issue was room was cold. Very cold in the morning. Pool was also cold but there was a note to advise of same. Music was loud in the night we could hear it clearly in our room.

Hotel a bit dated in places but lovely in other areas. Hand dryers not working. Bar service VERY slow- my husband waited nearly 15 mins for a drink. Most staff very friendly and helpful, especially the reception guy. Pool totally FREEZING - there was a sign up noting this but it did really spoil our break as that was one of the main reasons I booked there. I cudnt bring my baby into the pool due to temperature. Men’s changing room had water leaking on floor and seems run down. Dinners decent- staff trying! We had an interconnecting family room which my kids loved. Rooms clean. Overall I would visit this place again but would highly recommend some fixing, cleaning and painting.

Dob scored 3 / 5 on 28/11/2017

The saving graces for this hotel were the quality and friendliness of the staff and its proximity to the town centre. The decor was dated and the tiling in several areas needed re grouting and at least steam cleaning. The Ceiling in the bar toilet(gents) had water damage that looked as if it had not received any attention since it happened. One of the hand dryers was broken for the duration of the weekend. The paint work allover the hotel needed attention and the carpets needed a cleaning. The bath towels were not big enough. The heating in the room was not hot enough and could not be adjusted by guests. There was some banging noises at night and machinery noise, which didn't keep me awake but did disrupt my partners sleep. Having said this the dinner food was adequate and breakfast sufficient. This hotel is an aspiring four star hotel but not there yet. Attention to detail and first impressions need to be addressed. The weekend break was enjoyable and value for money but not four star.

Great Family break with two adults and two kids. Lovely spacious room and bathroom. Pool was adequate but a bit chilly (this was highlighted on the door on the way in). Steam room nice and steamy. We ate one dinner in the restaurant and no complaints. Good size portions for both adults and kids. Breakfast was the standard fare and staff were plentiful if you needed anything. Staff very friendly.

THe Millrace is a little dated but spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food was very tasty.

We had a lovely stay in the Millrace Hotel last week. The kids really enjoyed the pool. There could be some improvements made with the breakfast in terms of options, but the dinner was really lovely. The staff are very nice.

The hotel needs a serious revamp! There are cob webs, lighting is so dull, and room service is SO slow. I was really disappointed. There is nothing 4 star about this place. The restaurant and bar are the only saving grace.

My family and I had a lovely time in Bunclody last week. We had a suite which was great for space. The bed had some lats broken on it though and the TV in the master bedroom didn't work. The hotel looks like it hasn't been updated in many years either. The hotel has two lifts for residents but both broke on our first day and the 2nd one was not fixed during the 5 days that we were there. The first one broke down a number of times too and we had to use a service lift to get the baby down from the 3rd floor. The food was lovely though and the pool very nice but there was very few staff on as well. I would rate this hotel as 3 stars and value for money at that rate but it shouldn't still have 4 stars.

Our stay in the Millrace turned out to be an episode of faulty towers. There was a delay in getting our room even though we didn't arrive till after 6. I'd booked 2 rooms and Ricki could only find 1, through no fault of his I have to say..system was on a go slow he said, but funny enough he told me the same thing on wed so they obviously need an updated system. I'd called on wed to add 2 camp beds which weren't in our rooms when we did eventually get in. The beds arrived but I had to call reception again as the inter connecting doors weren't unlocked. I called for a hair dryer which didn't come up and I'd to look for again the following evening. We had a tv in each room, one wouldn't turn up and the other one you couldn't change channels... so no tv... There were no teaspoons in the room either..which I also had to look for. I have to say the rooms were spotlessy clean. My son was having a shower and the whole fitting seemed to come off the wall, the place was filled with steam until I got the cold on, in the meantime it set off the smoke alarm, and some guy arrived and got it turned off. The breakfast was only ok not 4 star quality. It seemed to be understaffed and the same faces were there the 2 days we were. Ricki the poor devil never seemed to leave reception, and he was always polite and helpful. The 2 boys in the bar were there on both days, over run if you ask me..they were both very friendly and always chatty (especially the young fella from Dublin, he was only there 2 weeks), even though they seemed to be under pressure also. I heard one guy saying he was going on his break but had to come back as the bar was busy.. Dinner on the first eve was fab and very tasty but on the Sunday quality was not as good, we seemed to have warmed up potatoes from the evening before. The dining room where we had our meals had about 6 massive windows all of which were filthy, complete with cobwebs. One lady that stood out to me that didn't want to be there was Breda, when you're dealing with people friendliness goes along way and costs nothing. The Manager was over run aswel, she was working in reception, the bar and the restaurant. A very friendly lady and pleasant at all times even though it was plain to see she was over worked. All in all the owner needs to get some help in there, and look after the good staff they do have, they need to do some serious upgrading downstairs and cleaning.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. The room was super, clean and spacious, great bath. Dinner was good though the menu supplement costs for the 'dinner included' was quite confusing. Breakfast was fine but nothing special.

Stayed at The Millrace with my husband and two daughters and really enjoyed it. We were given a family room which consisted of two good size interconnecting rooms which was an added bonus. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Breakfast and dinner was tasty. Any staff we met were polite and helpful. All in all we had a lovely stay and would not hesitate to go back.

We had a lovely stay in a very comfortable room, the staff were friendly and helpful but there were a few issues. I phoned the hotel in advance to query the room/suite. When I queried the check in time(for info) I was told it was 4pm but was offered (without requesting ) a 12.00 check in time but it was noted that it couldn't be guaranteed. I opted for 12.30 as I didn't think I would arrive before then .. We set off around 11am and arrived @12.40. We were told that the room wasn't ready that it might take 5 mins or an hour and the receptionist agreed to phone me when it was. I didn't get a call but arrived back @ 1.47 pm.The room still wasn't ready .It was ready @ approx. 2.35pm over 2 hours later than the noted check in time. I don't know why they offer an early check in when they might fall short by two hours+ My daughter's camp bed was faulty(missing two lats ) but it was replaced on request. We enjoyed ourselves in the hotel and in Bunclody and hope to return next year.

booked through FM 4 hrs on the road check-in time on FM letter 3pm to arrive and be told the info is wrong, C-I is 4pm, when room eventually ready a swim needed, pool full of children Jacuzzi not working. ph spa at 5 ish still no reply 16hrs later, i ph again only to be told "their busy". dinner soup advertised with brown bread, we got 1 bread-roll between us and Guinness Bread....duck was ok but beef came out swimming in gravy n covered with water cress, apple-pie/tart was a slab of flat pastry with chopped apples on top. young couple beside us complained about a singer and children running around at nearly 9pm while they were trying to eat. Room was ok (hairdryer didn't work & no slip mat in bath) the saving grace to this hotel was the receptionist Shauna (not the one at time of our arrival) Shauna very pleasant young lady.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 22/08/2016

We enjoyed our stay in the Millrace last weekend. It was good value for money. On our arrival the receptionist was most welcoming, friendly and helpful. The dinner was pretty good (Good price in package) and again the staff were most helpful. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well maintained though it is a little dated in decor. Overall, I think it is a great hotel for the price and we would certainly go back there again!

REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THIS HOTEL. ROOM WAS VERY NICE AND CLEAN. STAFF WERE EXCELLENT AND WELL TRAINED AT LOOKING AFTER GUESTS. POOL AND JACUZZI WAS GREAT AND NOT TOO BUSY OVER THE WEEKEND, WHICH WAS GOOD. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, BREAKFAST AND DINNER. OUR ONLY PROBLEM WAS A NOISY NEIGHBOR WHO HAD THEIR TV ON FULL ALL NIGHT AND WHEN WE DIALED RECEPTION THERE WAS NO ANSWER. WE DID NOT LET THIS SPOIL OUR TIME AT MILLRACE. I HAVE TO MENTION HOW BRILLIANT THE STAFF WERE AT THE DANU SPA, I HAD A LOVELY AFTERNOON BEING PAMPERED AND IT WAS FABOULOUSSS!! I WILL BE BACK.

Pepsie scored 5 / 5 on 18/07/2016

The staff at the Millrace are the most welcoming, friendliest, cheeriest and most helpful staff ever. They made our stay a real pleasure and so relaxing. The rooms are a bit tired and in need of decorating but they are clean and with the most comfortable beds. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, the only thing I would expect is free WiFi, I would have thought it is a given in any 4 star hotel.

I was delighted with my stay . My family had a great break and I would highly recommend this hotel. The hotel food was exceptional and real quality. The staff were absolutely top class and were so nice and helpful. All staff we met were brilliant don't remember all the names but Lisa was one girl who was brilliant to us. We will certainly be back and family suite was magnificient. James from Cork

Mosie scored 3 / 5 on 22/06/2016

I would certainly not rate this hotel a 4star as I was led to believe. The hotel room was okay. Nice and clean. My problem was that their were barely 4 tv channels which is fine if the weather is nice but in my case it never stopped lashing for the two days we were there. Now this is of course nothing to do with the hotel but it did have special offers advertised for alchohol if you watched the match in the hotel. So we thought that might be fun. Instead we go into the lounge and they had a projector screening the match against a wall which in turn was beside a glass wall. with the result you could not see the match. We and others of course complained about the quality of the picture and were told to go to the pub next door which apparently had 5 televisions.

Diane scored 1 / 5 on 08/06/2016

To start off the staff at reception were lovely very welcoming I thought great!! We had two adjoining rooms which our two children loved. All going great then we went down for dinner….. We were waiting ages for our food and when it did come the children’s came first (I get over that at least you can get them started) then 5 minutes later at least our mains came and eventually our vegetables. We had a two course paid for but had to pay extra for certain dishes if they didn't have a star next to them €2.00 for starter €4.00 for main and €2.00 extra for desert. We were told it was oven roasted veg (carrots & turnips) I asked for no carrots but got a bowl of fine beans instead and my husband got carrots and fine beans I think they lost the turnips. Also my daughter didn’t like the burger we were very close to going to the local chipper but she had some fruit we had luckily brought. Desert was lovely had to pay extra. Went back to our room where luckily I had brought my laptop and some DVD’s no RTE junior on the TV or even movies on a loop. In the morning went for breakfast early at 8am so we could go to the swimming pool which opens at 9am as we missed out the night before as it only stays open till 7pm. Another disappointment for our kids no baby pool we had to hold our kids in our arms in the pool as they can’t swim yet really it’s designed for adults. Also there are padlocks on the lockers in the changing rooms so you had to take a chance leaving your things in an empty locker. Also the water in the showers at the pool were boiling I feel my son might had got burnt it was so hot. I went up to the room and had a shower there instead. So to recap staff lovely, dinner only fair, and pool for adults only, the rooms are clean. It’s not a hotel for family’s even the girls at reception said most of their guests are on tours. Kids club is from 1pm – 4pm but check in starts at 4pm so unless you are staying more than one night you can’t avail of it. We won’t be going back..

Very good value and the food was really good. On the downside, the TV wouldn't work despite an attempt by the hotel staff to fix it, and the shower was not easy to get right in terms of temperature. I would still recommend the hotel though.

This is a lovely hotel, great for golfers and couples seeking a quiet night away. The hotel facilities are good, the leisure centre is small but adequate with good sauna and Jacuzzi. The only problem I had was with the noise from the generator/air con. It was very noisy especially if your room is directly above it. I would recommend guests to book a room on the other side of the hotel if they require a quiet room. We did not eat in the restaurant but the breakfast was excellent, and had a good choice to cater to everyone. The bar area was nice and the hotel had music on the night we stayed, very entertaining. It's a well run hotel, possibly too much as the little extras eg towels, soaps etc were at a minimal and therefore gave the impression that it was all on a budget whereas the hotel is trying to project a 4 star rating so this should not be the case.

just arrived back from a great couple of days at the millrace hotel in bunclody. such friendly staff, nothing too much of a problem for them and they will go out of their way to help you with any queries you have. breakfast is a good variety, cereals, fruit, pastries and hot fry up. the kids club is fantastic, our kids had a great time meeting new friends. the sugar and spice bakery on the main street is a must for lunch or coffees i'm looking forward to returning to the millrace soon

Nice Hotel with Lovely Staff. But we had major issue with the room. It was a connected room with a Hen party next door. The hotel was not in a position to change rooms. It was our wedding anniversary and our first night away without the kids in over a year. Again the staff were top class but overall I was disappointed.

Five star reception staff - arranged golfing. Enjoyable food in the bar/restaurant and excellent music on the Friday night we were there - fabulous singer (29th May). Two young women who served us our dinner meal (one was born in Madeira and the other lived locally) were excellent and we met them the next morning at breakfast. Bathroom very safe - handles in the bath and good shower. Swimming pool is small and the sauna and steam room are great. We look forward to a return visit as there is a lot to see in the area and Bunclody is a lovely village to walk around - with a stream running through it - made it very spiritual for me. Huntington Castle and gardens is close by and is a great place to visit.

We stayed in hotel for 2 nights. It was present to my husband for his birthday. We were very disappointed. The rooms are not for 4 stars at all- very basic, needs to be repainted, walls quite filthy. Very poor lighting. Dark- It wasn't possible to read. Towel holder in the bathroom was broken, the sink stopper was broken, towels pretty oldish, with the hanging threads all around. We went for dinner in the first night, just thought few drinks and good food will cheer us up. Staff was extremely polite and pleasant- trained well but chef has to look at his skills on presentation of food- the home made chips was presented half peeled( with black skin around left) and half potato cut, when we asked change they bring us chips from the frozen packs- and that called 4 stars hotel. We been in basic B&B and had ten times better experience. The next morning we went for the breakfast- looked like the staff is only interested to get our room number, after that we vere left alone- we ordered fried eggs, had to await for ages, then asked again- got them all oily and over fried. Nobody asked us would we like tea or coffee- my husband tried to catch a waitress to make an order. The only good experience I had in the SPA- great staff, highly professional. The receptionist as well was very good and professional. I know, we won't stay there again but maybe management will look at this review and will change something for better. Regards, Sandra

Hi folks, just a quick note about my recent stay, on arrival everything was grand, but the room we were given was not that good as it was actually a wheelchair accessable which led to the bathroom been a wet room literally not great when you have a child with you, also there was no heating in the room as we had to ring reception during the night to get a electric fire from them,on a good note Keith the manager was very helpful, but overall it puts a doubt on you as if to stay there again which is a pity because we have used the Millrace before and could not fault it.

Very disappointed with this hotel. We had no hot water for Saturday night and was told it was because hotel was busy eventually after complaining three times over six hour period was told boiler broken so no heat either but no apologies. The restaurant is part of bar while food was nice its not very inviting and nowhere to have just something light to eat for lunch. Will not be returning

I enjoyed my night in The Millrace. There's no doubt the hotel is a little tired but I believe they are about to do some work on it. The staff are really friendly and that's worth a lot. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever found in a hotel. The breakfast was adequate as it's hard to be too enthusiastic about a buffet breakfast. No matter how hard you try, it's not possible to keep food fresh and hot when it's sitting for a while. The brown bread however was top class. The evening meal was very good so, all in all, the positives outweigh the negatives.

Martin scored 2 / 5 on 11/08/2014

Let me start by saying that the staff and the food in this hotel were excellent. My wife and I stayed as part of our 25th wedding anniversary and we were really looking forward to it. when we arrived at 2pm we were told our room was not ready so we proceeded to the bar where we had some lunch and two drinks each. After this we got our room keys and went to put our cloths and things away. When we walked in to our room we noticed a few things. The bed was about a foot off the floor, there was no bath in the toilet, the shower was a walk in with a seat on the wall and the shower attachment about four feet off the ground. There was a wooden table in the area next to the shower and there was no place to put toiletries. We were horrified at this as this room was obviously for someone with special needs. We decided that we were not spending our anniversary in this room so went to get a manager. We got a manager and brought him to the room. To be fair to him he understood our problem and went off to try and sort the problem. He came back five minutes later and todl us that the hotel had double bookings and this was the only room available. I explained to him that I had booked the hotel break two months ago in June and surely a room was reserved for us. He then offered to put us in a B&B which we thought was insulting. He then asked us what we would suggest which really was out of order. We said that if we had not had drinks taken we would go home. He said to give him a few minutes to see what he could do. He came back ten minutes later and said a room had become available. We went with him to the room and it was what we expected in the first place. This problem was sorted and we thanked the young manager. We booked our dinner for 8.30pm. We went to the bar at around 7.45 for a drink before dinner.e out to the bar at 8.15 . We got our table at 8.30. The waitress took our order which was two main courses at 8.35. it was 9.30 when the waitress came and asked were we still waiting for our order. She was very apologetic and came back from the kitchen to say there was a mix up and our dinner would not be long and would we like a drink on the house. We declined the drink and just wanted our dinner. We asked to see the manager and she went off to get him. In the next 10 minutes we were offered 4 drinks on the house. We declined. We ate at 9.50 and we never saw a manager. Overall it was not our day.

Hi very nice hotel staff were lovely food was very nice. Only some small issues the bar and restaurant are in the same area, showers in the pool area need updating and our friends room had hundreds of tiny flies at night time.

Fionn scored 5 / 5 on 07/07/2014

Prominent modern hotel in a convenient location. It was quiet but we were on the third floor. There is no niteclub so the only source of late night noise might be the bistro/bar. Leisure centre was nice and clean with a small but warm pool and jacuzzi with sauna and steam room. The room was bright and airy with nice heavy curtains. TV was ok but the choice of channels was very poor and should be improved on. The bed was comfy and big and the bathroom was good with a bath and shower. Food was good and the set menu on the inclusive dinner deal was nice and varied. The standard menu was also good and prices were reasonable. The price of a pint was lower than my local, this brought the score to five stars. Good hotel, easy to find and close to lots of good tourist locations.

Firstly I have to commend the great staff and service in the hotel these were exceptional. Rooms were clean maybe a bit dated but comfortable and served our needs. Dinner was very nice we both had steak and would definitely recommend it cooked to perfection. We arrived around lunchtime on a Saturday but rooms weren't ready until after 3.30 the receptionist told us they had been very busy the night before and had a lot of late checkouts but this was ok as it was such good weather we were able to sit out in the beer garden. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the breakfast we had it delivered to the room and it wasn't very hot and looked like it had been sitting on the plate awhile. All in all we had a great time here and would recommend a stay here to anyone.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Millrace Hotel recently, It was our first family holiday with our little 8 month old girl and the hotel was very accommodating to us, the family room was brilliant, two rooms joined together so we could get her to bed early and still watch television and catch up while she was sleeping, the food was delicious and staff were very friendly and looked after us very well, We cannot fault the hotel in anyway and would highly recommend it to our friends and family,

Colette scored 3 / 5 on 15/05/2014

Booking and reception were very good, Carrie was very helpful and really cheerful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was disappointing - all meals were in the bar as the restaurant was not open. Wine choice with dinner was either house red or white, ie either/or. Our waitress for dinner almost threw our menus at us and gave the impression that she didn't want to be there & quite possibly didn't want us to be there either. Breakfast choice & quality was very poor from a supposed 4* - mixed fruit, cereal and congealed fry were the choice. The spa was nice but treatments were pricey. One of the beauticians was working in the bar that night and on breakfast the following morning - maybe that's why she wasn't smiling! Our package was inexpensive and from that point maybe we got value for money, but - would I go back, or indeed pay any more to stay? Unfortunately, I don't think so.

This is a good 3 star hotel. I'm not sure where they got the 4 stars from. We requested a quiet family room. Got room 102 which is directly beside the leisure centre entrance. People walking past the window as it's on the ground level. The room was clean, decor very dated. Good sized bathroom but the toilet seat was chipped. Worst pillows I've ever had in a hotel. The dining room/bar reminded me of a canteen/hostel type breakfast room: no atmosphere. The food however was lovely. We had sandwiches on arrival, then dinner and breakfast included in the rate. There needs to be more staff on during the dinner service as there was only one chap working the floor when we were there. Swimming pool very small but it was perfect for me and my 3 year old to have a splash. The staff are the best asset of the hotel, all I dealt with we're very friendly.

Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly. Food is really delicious. Swimming pool & facilites are great for what we required. Music in bar from around 10 on the weekend. No children allowed in bar after 9am so we spent most of our time in the lobby but staff looked after us. Small pool so not ideal for swimmers but ideal for families or relaxation. Easter weekend, hotel has easter egg hunt for children plus there is a childrens club in the hotel so very family orientated hotel. My only complaint & it is not even a complaint of the hotel is Bunclody itself. It appears a very run down town & nothing in it. In driving distance though to few other Wexford towns. We drove one hour to Courtown, seaside resort. Great for the children.

myself and partner with two very small kids stayed for 2 nights last week. On checking in to our room we noticed a loud vibrating noise which made us feel like we were on a ferry. we brought it to the attention of staff who said they never heard this before and would look into it...nothing happened. A further 4 calls and one visit down to reception later and we were told it was kitchen fans and would knock off at 8.30. I said we needed to get kids to have nap before this...eventually we were moved to room further down the corridor. then when we were given 2 pillows between the 4 of us we asked for another 2- and had to ask twice....staff were friendly but it was all a bit faulty towers...nice bar & food not bad. pool area not the cleanest, but ok.

Myself, partner and friends stayed in your hotel for a night and had a pleaseant experience and found the staff friendly and polite. However our room was located very close to the hotel generator and could be heard quite loudly throughout our stay, as a result both myself and my partner did not get much sleep during the night as we found the noise too distrubing. Upon checkout we brought this to the attention of the receptionist who did not really display much empathy towards us and just informed us she would bring it to the managers attention. As a manager who works in customer service i would not be pleased if this complaint was not brought to my attention immediatley by one of my team to try resolve the issue as soon as possible. We then had a long car journey home which was not helped by the fatigue cause by very little sleep. I am disappointed we did not hear anything back from the hotel or even an apology even though they have my contact details and contacted me previously during the week to confirm the booking. This has proved a poor experience for myself and partner and as a result will not be returning to the hotel or advising any friends to avail of your hotel in the future

The hotel looked a little tired in places. The first room we were given was not properly clean but the staff were excellent in changing our room very quickly.. The food was very good, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful and overall we enjoyed our stay.

We spent a lovely 2 night break at Millrace last weekend. The staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough to help. We had booked a family room and were given 2 joining rooms which delighted the kids to have thier 'own room'. The rooms were clean and warm and perfectly comfortable. For a 4* hotel the room supplies (bathroom soap was a squeezy bottle on wall, no biscuits on the tea/coffee tray) were spare. The hotel itself looks a little tired but was only taken over by new management a week ago and the new owner promises that all the small isses are going to be addressd soon. The food in the pub was good and I was told they would be reopening the rooftop resturant again soon.

We spent last Sunday/Monday at the Millrace Hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful, with advice on walking trails and places of interest in the area. Food at the hotel was exceptional, with a wide choice on both the dinner and breakfast menu. A special thanks to William in the dining room for making our evening special. We asked for a room in a quiet location and again we were delighted, the room was spacious and comfortable with black-out curtains. The leisure centre was lovely and relaxing after a days walking up the mountain. Thanks for all at the Millrace Hotel for making our stay special - we will definitely be back.

Myself and my family stayed for two nights here, and it was absolutely fantastic. We had a double adjoining room, which the kids loved, as did we. The swimming pool was great, and I enjoyed the sauna and steam room. The staff in all parts of the hotel very friendly, and extremely efficient. In short, we loved the place, and will definitely be back.

Hotel is nice and staff are good and helpful. I thought it could be a tiny bit cosier in the bar. It was just a tad bit much fresh air like some modern buildings have too powerful ventilation. Pub/ bar could do with more snug couch chairs rather can cold stools. Lovely breakfast. Bed comfy. Room nice.

Stayed in the hotel for one night.....got a very friendly welcome from the receptionist on arrival which is always a good start. Staff in general were very friendly, nice room and food was lovely. Our only complaint was that the wait to have our order taken for dinner was a tad too long considering the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time and the constant playing of The Beatles music through dinner and then again through breakfast was a bit too much. However we would like to say that overall we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely visit again.

Stayed in Millrace over christmas the reception staff are extremely nice, the bar is more like a bistro/cafe, the bar food portions are tiny, the pool and gym are briliant, location is beside town so you don't need your car to visit town. the breakfast is lovely staff very enthusiastic and helpful. rooms were very clean. all in all nice hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the Millrace. It was our 2nd visit in 4 years and the hospitality is as good as previously. We had dinner in the roof-top resteraunt and breakfast in the ground floor dining area, both excellent and first class service. We retired to the bar after dinner and were entertained by a 2 man band which was very popular with the patrons. We rounded off our visit to Bunclody with a walk up Mount Leinster and the 9 Stones. All in all a nice mid winter break.

Although the Staff were extremely friendly & the food was nice in the Bistro, we were disappointed with our room. There was an a-joining door to the other room where the other guests tried to open during the night and tried to see into the room through the key hole. The music from the bar was extremely loud until about 2 or 3 in the morning and we could hear every word of the conversation the next room was having & then they started singing themselves - so we didn't get a wink of sleep. There was also a thick spiders web on the curtain that look like it was there for months and there was several flies stuck to it. Being 5 months pregnant we were getting away for a night to relax & unwind but really it was nothing but stress & didn't end up sleeping in the end. We were out of there by 9.15 the next morning. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed at The Millrace last weekend 9 th and 10th.It was my 60th Birthday so there was 13 of us in total. It really was an amazing experience. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more helpfverything was done with a smile. They even had left a birthday card in my room for me. My 3 grandchildren aged 4 [ 2 of them} and 8 years were looked after and given crayons and books to play with while we all relaxed in the sitting area after dinner. The Spa was amazing and I spent a wonderful few hours there. When we left on Sunday it was with the unanimous agreement of all my family that it will definitely be one of our favourite places to visit again. Oh ! and the food in the restaurant was just beautiful. We could find fault with nothing. With sincere thanks to all at The Millrace. I will definitely be back and will highly recommend the Hotel to my friends. Breda Keating

We had a lively time in the Millrace, staff were very polite and friendly, we couldn't fault the service, the hotel itself is lovely, the rooms were a bit basic for a 4 star, I had expected better, the food was lovely , we had bistro food on the evening of our arrival which was great, and a pizza in the later evening which was not so great, breakfast was lovely also, could imagine it would get a little crowded as it was full both mornings of our stay. The swimming pool was average, not the cleanest or most modern we have used which I felt let the hotel down. There was entertainment both nights of our stay which was a plus as there are not many places around town to go of an evening. Overall we had a lively break here. :)

this hotel was rated 4 stars when I booked it and that is seriously over rated. The staff are very pleasant and courteous but the hotel is run down. The lounge felt like sitting in an airport so badly arranged , absolutely no character. The bed had only one sheet and two pillows , on a double bed and was very low , but was comfortable , even though it creaked at the end. The heating did nt work and the room had an electric oil storage heater with an apology typed on the desk. If I had paid high price i would have a problem but the rate was great and the staff made up for what was lacking

My wife and myself had the pleasure of spending two (2) wonderful nights at the Millrace hotel. during our stay we had a wonderful time in the pool the sauna and gymnasium. We met with some of the nicest staff we have met in a very long tiime, there was nothing they would not do for the guests. the dining facilities were 2nd to none and in the bar we met two wonderful bar ladies. The conversations with them about the local area and the greater Wexford area was most enlightening. I would without hesitation recemmend the Millrace complex to any person / family wanting to spend a break in one of the friendliest, confortable and most hospitable places in Ireland. Stayed in the millrace on the 3rd may, rooms were nice and clean, the dinner in lady lucys was absolutely divine and real value for money, had black pudding and goats cheese for starters which melted in your mouth, and lamb for main, to say it was cooked to perfection would be an understatement, the partner had tomato soup for starters and a chicken dish which she enjoyed, however the chef who cooked breakfast following morning could take lessons from their fellow chef that cooked dinner, the breakfast was poor to say the least. Bunclody itself has little to offer but the millrace is worth it for a night away. Will be back

stayed at hotel for two night weekend break. found staff very helpful and courteous. was pleased with room that we stayed in. breakfast very good, but found choice of food in bar was limited. my only other gripe was that i was not able to use my tablet as i would like to have done. it seemed to be a lot of trouble to even try and set up. got to the stage where i couldnt even be bothered. i think wi-fi in bed rooms would be a lot more convenient. like other hotels that i stayed in you can get a pass at reception and use it for your stay, and at no extra cost. apart from those two items enjoyed our stay very much.

Once we got to check into our room, which wasn't ready until almost 5, we enjoyed our stay. The staff were accommodating when we asked for anything, the beds comfy and the breakfast very nice (liked that it was served until 10:30, since we aren't early risers on holidays!) Enjoyed the use of the pool and jacuzzi, tho wished it stayed open a little later! The Spa treatments were delightful!! One suggestion is that considering there isn't much to do in Bunclody in the evenings, I think a 4 star hotel should have an option to order pay per view movies...or at least more tv channels! Thanks for the suggestion of the tour around Mt Leinster...on a clear sunny day, it was spectacular!! Also found the Heritage Park near Wexford town very good!

We enjoyed our stay at the millrace hotel but there were a couple issues. The food at the bistro was lovely but we had planned on going to the restaurant which was closed. On the first morning we were woken at 6 am by a fire alarm accidentally being set off. That evening we enjoyed the live music in the bar but when we got back to our room we realised a family had checked in to the room above us and we could hear their kids running around. This woke us again the next morning. The breakfasts were lovely, with hot food being cooked fresh for guests and a buffet with fruit, juice, breads etc. We didn't check out the leisure facilities or the treatments so I can't comment on them. Overall we enjoyed our stay and were pleased with the service, but there were some minor disappointments.

Last Saturday we stayed at this Hotel and were very disappointed due to the fact that the room was very cold on arrival. We immediately dedcided to have a meal and to ask about the heating controls. We took the lift from the first floor down to the reception area and happened to meet a female hotel employee. We mentioned about the heat in the room and our conversation was overheard by the receptionist who asked did we need a heater and extra blanket. We asked could someone check the heating system in the room and the employee accompanied us back up. She adjusted the controls and we decided to leave the room to heat and went down to the dining area. After an hour or so we went back up ro discover no change. The location of the room was directly above the bar where there was music session which continued until 1.00 a.m. Our trip was not a recreational trip but one of a family occasion due to a bereavment. This was not an ideal situation to find ourselves in. All in all we found the place very disappointing.

as a regul;ar traveller i normally go away about 6 times a year, l must say that this has got to be the WORST hotel l have ever stayed in. Room dirty, children running up and down corridors until 3am! Half hour wait for breakfast, sausages half cooked and inedible, on second night we arrived back at 11.30pm and could not access our room only to be told by duty manager that it could not be our room as someone else was booked into it, it took one hour for this situation to be rectified and he admitted he made a mistake but in the meantime the other person had full access to our room and belongings - when checking out another couple were complaining about a row which had taken place the night before at 2am beside their room, food prices ridiculous 18 euos for two sandwiches

I stayed at the Carlton Millrace Hotel with my husband and two boys (aged 3 and 5) for one night. We were delighted with our stay. We booked a family room, but an apartment was available, so we were upgraded to a two-bedroom apartment including a separate living room/kitchen, for no extra cost. This made our evening & stay extra-special. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is attractive and clean. Bunclody is quiet town, and is pleasant to walk around. The swimming pool was fine, and very clean, but it's not as big as you might expect, and has no 'baby pool.' We ate breakfast at the hotel, which included a quite good selection of the 'standard' buffet, including traditional irish breakfast. Personally, I would have appreciated some variety, but what was there was certainly adequate. The bottom line: I'd definitely stay again and I'd recommend it!

We spent 1 night in this hotel in June 2012. Every member of the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and very helpful. The bar was nice, we didn't have dinner here but the breakfast was exceptionally good. The room was a fine size but the upkeep was jaded; chairs poor and marked, the double bed turned out to be two singles pushed together ( very comfortable); the door frame to the adjoining room had only been primed and never painted giving the feeling that there must have been a break in! The bathroom was the real let down, short on towels, no toiletries provided, mildewed grout and marked sealant, a shower head that sprayed everywhere except downwards. There was also a blown lamp and hairdryer although they were both replaced promptly and pleasantly. This is the second Carlton we have been to with Lidl and definitely get the feeling that 'break deal people' are second class and get downgraded rooms!

I stayed at the Millrace hotel for the Whit bank holiday for two nights with my husband. Having read other reviews I was completly surprised when I opened the door to the room, it was spotlessly clean and quite spacious, a few of the reviews had said that the rooms were very small so I cannot imaging what they were looking for, a room for the Waltons maybe? The breakfast was second to none with everything from continental to a fry-up, the meal in the bar was lovely and we booked a three course meal for the Saturday night in the other restuarant and it was lovely to say the least. The staff were so friendly it was easy to know we were in Ireland and not any other country, all in all, this is a lovely place to stay and Bunclody is a lovely town with very friendly people. I would definitely rate this hotel as 4 star.

We ate in the Bistro on the first night as there was nowhere in Bunclody to eat (the few restaurants they had closed down) we found it v over priced and food wasn't great. We opted the next night to drive to Enniscorty for a better selection of restaurants. The only problem it is a 20-25 min drive and it means you cannot enjoy a drink with or after dinner.

This was a gift for my parents, for mother's day and they highly enjoyed their night away. The food in the bistro was second-to-none. My father rarely likes meat these days, and he is now still praising the turkey he had. The bed was, I am told, massive and very difficult to get out of ...for all the right reasons!!! The staff were very helpful, seeing in advance little ways to make the stay more comfortable...ie catching the lift and holding it til my dad who was on stick and has difficulty in walking managed to make it to the door. All in all they had a wonderful night away....and now I wish I went too! We will be calling again.

The staff were very pleasant and we were very pleased with the food in the bar and the breakfast in the rooftop restaurant.. The staff were so helpful. They couldn't do enough for everyone. The Spa was absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend it. Our room however could have done with a little bit of attention with sealant around the bathroom looking very dirty and the shower not working correctly. Despite being the other end of the Hotel from the bar facilities, the band were still quiet audible on Sat night which left us leaving a little tired on Sunday.

Enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay in the Mill Race Hotel, Bunclody. We stayed in a family apartment which was ideal for 2 adults and 2 young children. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The hotel itself is clean with comfortable surroundings and the staff are very courteous, friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is on the small side but the facilities are well kept. The hotel is set in a lovely location with a Golf Club across the road which boasts beautiful scenery and is perfect for walking. The breakfast was served in the restaurant on the 4th floor overlooking Bunclody and was of excellent quality. I would definitely return to this hotel and my family want to know when we are going back.

The Hotel was a pleasant surprise in such a small town - right opposite a Golf Course with a lovely walk, plus a short drive to stunning views around Mt Leinster - and drives to lovely Gardens and Castles and many other places to visit. All very positive. The Swimming pool and Jacuzzi and Sauna a total asset. The staff were attentive and considerate. The food excellent in the Restaurant and in the Bar (both good value). The only drawbacks - 1. Lack of sufficient sound insulation (a gross oversight which is easily rectified). Had it been busy it would have been a real issue! 2. The extractor fan in the en-suite was not working properly if at all - which meant odours and steam. Rated as a 4 star hotel it represented very good value with Lidl-breaks.

I did not actually get to stay at the carlton millrace because I was travelling around connemara and time ran away with us and we had to phone and cancel. The staff were very friendly asking us where we were, and as we were by the cliffs of moher they told us we were near to the limerick carlton, they rang ahead and transferred our booking to the limerick carlton at no extra charge which was lovely of them. I stayed at the carlton millrace before and it is lovely

I had a few problems with my stay here but I still would rate this hotel highly as the staff were lovely, breakfast was great, dinner in the bar was lovely, did not try the restaurant. When I booked the hotel through Lidl-breaks I had a confirmation on my booking from the hotel asking if I would like to book treatments or upgrade to a suite etc. I had booked two rooms and decided to upgrade to two suites. The suites were beautiful really huge , but my one (room320) had a smell in it like sewage. I complained at once and straight away there was someone up to look at it, but even though they tried I could still get the smell so I had to change to a double room. Lovely hotel in walking distance to shops, pool small, swimming hats must be worn, spa relaxing but small. Would definately stay again

My stay in the Millrace Hotel was very pleasant and relaxing. The Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very nice and clean. Lidil Breaks are very good value for money and its great that you don't need to collect points. I hope to stay many times on the Lidil breaks in the future but they are not always available.

This hotel is gorgeous. The staff were lovely both in the hotel and in the Spa especially Yvonne in the spa and Cathy on reception. We were upgraded to a suite which was a great surprise on arrival and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. Would highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I spent two nights in this hotel while exploring the local area. The staff were very pleasant and we had dinner on both nights in the top floor restaurant. It was really delightful and comparable to some top restaurants in London and great value at 59 euro for 4 courses and bottle wine for two people. The only downside was our bedroom which had a view of a blank wall - the gym. We didn't spend much time in our room because of this.

Hi, we enjoyed our great value break away & were impressed to get such good value at such late notice - we only booked at midday and arrived at tea time... 2 downsides / pet hates - pool closed at 6 on bank holiday sunday which we thought was too early & having booked a late check out, we received a phone call to see when we planned to check out.. Staff were extremely nice & food was delicious, we would go back for a quiet weekend but it was too far from any city to enjoy "late " night out.

Stayed 1 night with my wife and 2 young children. Hotel is really nice. We stayed in a 2 bed apartment which was really spacious. My 3 year old joined the kids club and had a great time while myself and my wife enjoyed our meal in the roof top restaurant. Food was gorgeous. Overall really enjoyed our short stay and will definitely come back.

Hi, Our stay in the Carlton Millrace was terrible. I would not recommend it to anybody and i will be telling anybody who listens about our experience there. I'll also be adding reviews to all online hotel review sites that i can find e.g. tripadvisor, etc. I've given it one star as the staff are nice and polite. Bunclody is also a nice town, pity about the hotel. The room we were given was over the bar and the music in the bedroom sounded like we were actually in the bar. My wife is 8 months pregnant and we went for a quite relaxing break but we left the hotel saying never again and that we should have stayed at home. I phoned reception around 9:30 when the music started and the woman on reception just seemed to want to get me off the phone - despite being polite to her. We were offered another room at 12:20 am but as it was soo late and we had listened to the band downstairs for around 3 hours at that stage, it seemed unfair to have my wife move in here condition. I mentioned it to the woman on checkout who just fobbed us off and said "Yeah it was mad alright last night". I was polite at all times and would not recommend any of the Carlton hotels. thanks john

I stayed there in thursday 24th June with my friend a pre wedding treat, the staff were wonderful the hotel was great so clean and comfortable, we had dinner in the bar that night it was perfect. We had treatments in the spa the following day and had a late check out. would give the whole experience 10 out of 10. the only down fall was we had to go home.

My friend and I recently spent a three night lidl-break at the Carlton Millrace Hotel in Bunclody. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were most impressed by the friendly and efficient staff, they added a lot to our enjoyment of the break with their professionalism and pleasant attitude. We were delighted with the facilities in the hotel, - swimming pool,, jacussi ,sauna etc. The cost of the break was marvellously good value, we would both be very happy to repeat the experience.
