Hotel was lovely and clean

Liam scored 3 / 5 on 21/03/2022

Hotel furnishings and decor is badly outdated and in need of a refurbish. The bathroom in our room had been fully renovated but the bedroom itself was very basic and in dire need of an upgrade to it's furniture and decorating etc. The bar service and food was very good and reasonably priced and the breakfast was very good and an ample amount of food was available. The leisure centre was also good and staff were friendly throughout the hotel.

Jane scored 5 / 5 on 23/02/2022

Every member of staff was attentive and friendly from front of house to housekeeping, in particular the head waitress at breakfast. She must have been training new members of staff during our stay as they all followed her lead and everything was perfect. The food was excellent at breakfast and at the bar too.

A lovely relaxing break

Ana scored 3 / 5 on 06/12/2021

The staff were so kind and considerate , especially to my mam who was in a wheelchair. The room was warm and clean, the beds and linen were excellent. The shower was beautiful , full of hot water and a powerful jet. We ate in the very nicely decorated dining room , the servers were so attentive, and then we relaxed in the cosy are in front of a beautiful real effect fire . The breakfast was served in a different area and it was very good, we did not sit in the bar but I did go in for a drink and it was dark but very pleasant. My only complaint is that I had so little choice on the menu. I'm a lactose intolerant vegetarian, and not one item on the menu was suitable, so my dinner consisted of a selection of the side dishes. I would expect more from a hotel in this age of plant based hype and general veriety in the dining habits of the public. Especially over the last 4-5 years where it's all the rage. It should be normal to have at least two vegan options . Other than that, our stay was lovely.

Barry scored 5 / 5 on 30/11/2021

Lovely food, friendly staff and we had great break away.

Colm scored 4 / 5 on 23/11/2021

We booked it for my daughters 12 Birthday. The staff were very friendly and so helpful. We rang down for more pillows and towels and the manager brought them up within 10 minutes. The manager came down to the table and wished our eldest a Happy Birthday and came back to sing Happy Birthday. The little touch of a card and box of chocolates left in the room for her was so lovely.

Great hotel for a family break. Food very good, very clean. Lovely staff, very friendly. Highly recommend.

Gillian scored 5 / 5 on 12/10/2021

Our stay here was top notch.the hotel itself is a little outdated in terms of bedrooms/bathrooms but the value for money and kindness of staff well made up for any short-fallings in aesthetics of hotel. There were two ladies working in the restaurant from Philippines and they were just so kind and pleasant to us during our stay.other hotels could learn a lot from the auburn hotel in terms of value for money for families.I would have no problem returning again purely for the value for money.the breakfast spread was amazing.we came as a big group of 3 families and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel, a little bit old, but nothing to stop us to have a great time there. We enjoyed the swimming pool. And the staff at the bar were very friendly!

Catherine scored 5 / 5 on 02/10/2021

We found the staff at the front desk so welcoming and warm. Chris impressed us very much with his warm hospitality and friendly manner. We also found Stephen very obliging in the restaurant as we are both vegetarian/vegan. He did everything he could to serve us food that we could eat and enjoy. We are very grateful and will certainly be back again. This is one of our favorite places to stay. Thank you for a very relaxing and welcoming time.

Outside od this hotel looks lovely, although on a busy road the sound is not apparent in the rooms. Past the lobby and bar area it is old and looks dirty and could do with an update, mainly the carpets. Our 1st room we could not sleep in, it looked to be missing a lot of furniture and again filthy carpets and two shaggy rugs either side of the bed which had seen better days and I can only presume hid more stains. We asked to change and the reception staff were brilliant and had us changed on the spot. The second room although smaller, was much nicer and we were happy to stay. The staff in the hotel make it, lovely, welcoming and obliging. The food in the bar is nice, but a tad pricey though for what it was. The restaurant wasn't open when we stayed so I can't comment on that. My partner used the leisure centre and said it was lovely and clean and the staff again were great there. The location of the hotel is good for exploring the west and 5 minutes drive from Ennis Town. Martin the local taxi man was the best, so helpful and a genuinely nice guy. Not sure I would stay here again, but would definitely head back to Ennis.

Average hotel , although pretty well run , looked a bit tired in its decor ,from being closed up due to Covid I'd expect, definitely could do with a bit of freshing up ,to attract more guests, breakfast was ok not fantastic ,but plenty to choose from nonetheless, ,rooms were quite clean and tidy ,and staff were friendly I'd rate this around 3out of 5

We had to endure eating our evening dinner in the bar area some times sitting on uncomfortable seats. The dining room menu was on display and it was of a much higher quality than that of the bar menu, unfortunately this menu was not available in the bar.The dining room was closed for our entire stay.We also had to change bedrooms as our first room was sub standard.

Maria scored 5 / 5 on 09/09/2021

We had a very enjoyable experience at the Auburn Lodge. The rate of €62 was excellent value to include breakfast, room, free parking and use of pool. Róisín at reception was lovely. Mike in the leisure centre was very accommodating. We reserved our spaces in the pool prior to our arrival for an hour on Saturday evening and an hour on Sunday morning. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet, which was really delicious: full Irish selection of sausages, eggs and so forth, cereals, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, toast, juices etc. Night porter was very friendly too. Nice big window in the bedroom so plenty of fresh air. The ensuite bathroom could be cleaner around the tiles and shower mat - my one observation for improvement. No lifts and some of the rooms are miles away from reception, so request a ground floor room closer to lobby if this affects you.

Fantastic break in the Auburn Lodge . We felt very safe as all Covid guidelines were observed . This hotel has fantastic staff. Super friendly and obliging. A particular mention for Stevie in the bar and Edna who looks after you at breakfast. All of the staff are so helpful and made our stay memorable . The hotel itself is a characterful hotel , nice common areas with comfy chairs . Nice pool and leisure centre. The food is delicious and the staff make you feel nothing is too much bother . Good and efficient service and excellent local knowledge of the area and things to do. Great ambassadors for Co. Clare . We will definitely return again .

Hotel a bit far from the town, rooms were very run down, bed very lumpy bathroom needed a good clean. Carpet on stairs thread bare only good thing is that excellent food and friendly staff

Brenda scored 3 / 5 on 23/08/2021

The staff were the best thing about this hotel, the senior manager was excellent, friendly, professional and he was supported by a welcoming, helpful team. The hotel itself is dated, long walk to room and food was just ok, lacked vegetarian options but worked well as a base for our family holiday and in a summer of rip off prices represented very good value

Denis scored 5 / 5 on 23/08/2021

This is our second year to stay there it’s a Lovely hotel but the carpet could do with being replaced. The staff in the hotel are lovely and friendly, and the hotel Is situated in the perfect spot. We had two issues the sheets on the bed were never changed and we were there for 5 nights we did ask for our room To be cleaned and it never was and the second was we ate twice in the hotel for dinner and the food wasn’t hot both night.

Could have been 5/5 but for a meal disaster. Meal included in deal (restaurant) was delicious, couldn't fault the food but staff member kept coming over and taking delph/cutlery etc off the table the minute a plate was empty. The disaster meal was in the room where we had breakfast. No effort was made to make the room feel like a restaurant. 3 of us ordered the pasta dish which was tasteless and covered in processed cheese sauce. The garlic bread was the only thing that gave it a taste. Very disappointing. Again the items being removed from the table. Pity as everything else was perfect.

Marc scored 3 / 5 on 17/08/2021

Hotel was quaint, nice pool & leisure facilities, Bath for shower was very narrow twice I nearly fell out. bed was not great, one kind of rolled into the middle once asleep(great for cuddles not so much for sleeping). Staff were friendly. Bar meals & Breakfast was served in the function room it was was like eating at a wedding but without the bride & groom.

Wonderful staff beautiful food and plenty of it, the hotel is clean but badly in need of a make over but it's priced well for what you get. I would definitely return.

Marie scored 3 / 5 on 13/08/2021

We stayed here for three nights, this hotel is very dated, dark and it smells. We were put in a room that had an a connecting door to another room which ment we could hear every single sound from the other guests room.Gl got no sleep for the three night's l was there, l had to request a heater because the room was freezing and the radiator in the room didn't work. The menu in the restaurant didn't change and the food was more then disappointing. The staff were not overly friendly and they all looked absolutely miserable. The only highlight to this hotel was checking out. Avoid at all costs.

Gillian scored 4 / 5 on 13/08/2021

We stayed in this hotel Mon & Tues night and enjoyed it very much. The staff were really nice and friendly and helpful. We ate there both nights and the food was lovely and tasty and plenty of it. The rooms were clean but a bit tired looking, but overall I would go back again.

While the hotel is slightly dated, the open fireplaces and seating give it nice charm. Bar area is lovely. Room was clean and showers hot. The breakfast was fine - buffet with the usual. Towels are not provided at the pool, so be sure to ask at reception for extra for the room as you must bring down your towel to the pool. Would recommend also bringing your own robe to walk to the pool as none are provided

Friendly staff but that's about it. Very outdated and not very clean. Worst hotel I have stayed in. Could not check in till after 5, went to bar to get food while we waited, no staff present in bar at all. Our new van got keyed in carpark, you had to bring room towel to swimming and then walk back to room in togs and towel as changing facilities not open. No sanitation stations after the multiple doors you had to go through to get to room, breakfast was very average but bar food was rotten, not very clean. Bar area was ok

We really enjoyed our stay at Auburn Lodge Hotel ,we had great service from lovely staff, our room was spotless and bed very comfortable. We had dinner on 3 evenings and the food was absolutely delicious and big portions .This hotel is in a great location for sightseeing, there is a Lidl right next door and a lake a short walk away with kayaking .Our 3 night break was great value.

The room was basic beds were poor for comfort asked for extra pillows and got straight away. Pool was great but could only get 45 minutes at any time. The reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel is the food was so poor asked if they would do a bowl of plain pasta and would not had dinner and breakfast two days and all was very poor quality

The staff were very welcoming & did everything effectively. The only complaint is the bed wasn't made a couple of times. Others than that, I've no complaints

Philip scored 2 / 5 on 27/07/2021

First the good things. Our room was comfortable and great water pressure in the shower although bathroom decor and fittings could be updated. Leisure centre was excellent. Lots of easy parking and outdoor areas were good. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. And now for the poorer aspects. Restaurant and bar staff were poor and unattentive and seemed to be disinterested in their duties. Guests were allowed to order from the bar rather than table service and move through the bar and hotel public areas without masks and covid guidelines in general were not followed and guests were not challenged by staff. Food in the restaurant was extremely poor in quality and most meals seemed to be reheated. Breakfast in particular was awful especially the hot food with many options simply inedible. Quality of the ingredients seemed to be of a poor standard.

Helen scored 4 / 5 on 19/07/2021

Staff really nice, breakfast lovely, rooms and cleanliness very good. I would stay here again. Bathroom needs updating as it was very old. Deliveries and collections for the hotel were very noisy late at night, after 12pm. Maybe they should turn off the engines of the trucks. I would ask for a room on the other side next time, to avoid this noise. Windows don't open wide enough to let enough fresh air in to the rooms.

We had a couple of problems with the rooms The bathroom was not cleaned in 3 days The beds were not made, duvet just thrown on the bed The room was not vaccumed Charged for tea & coffee on 1st night even though it was included in the price My friend found a blue bottle half way through her dinner on the last night, not sure if it flew onto her dinner of whether it was there when served. She wasn't offered a replacement dinner.

We have booked into the Auburn Lodge twice in the last month and we enjoyed a very good experience. We are gluten-free and dairy free and found that the hotel did their very best to accommodate our needs. We found the staff at the desk very friendly, welcoming and hospitable which meant so much to us upon arrival. We would like to see an option on menu for vegetarian/vegan food if possible as a choice available as we both prefer this option. Maybe that will be possible at another time. Overall we have been very happy with our stay and with the front desk staff as well as the waiters and young waitresses who served us. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Catherine

Ashling scored 1 / 5 on 16/07/2021

Staff were not very nice one member of the restaurant was nice. Not enough pillows for amount of guests asked at reception for more pillows never arrived covid was used as an excuse for not giving us extra pillows which is totally unacceptable. Over all clean Housekeeping staff very nice.

Vicky scored 2 / 5 on 13/07/2021

Honestly, it wasn't a great experience. The food was only mediocre, the breakfast was genuinely terrible. We ended up just having cereal the second morning. The room was cold and when we asked for the heating to be turned on, they ignored our request the 1st night and sent a heater up the second night upon a second request. There wasn't enough seats in the bar and lounge to accommodate the amount of guests they had, people were standing with their drinks waiting for a vacant table. The hotel wasn't clean. We won't be staying again.

John scored 5 / 5 on 13/07/2021

This hotel is very well located in Ennis to use as a base to enhance your visit to Clare. The hotel itself is fabulous the rooms are spotless and the restaurant and bar food is 5 star with portions that will not leave you disappointed. The staff from the check in to the housekeeping could not do enough for you to make your stay as pleasant so that you really do not want to leave.

Hotel room very old fashioned. Unable to use shower because it was in the bath. Staff were extremely nice and helpful especially the lady in charge during breakfast so pleasant and welcoming. The staff for dinner very nice and pleasant except front of house man. He was so rude and abrupt to us and other guests had the sams complaint about him. He told me he was in charge when I asked to speak to manager. Such a shame as all other staff so helpful and pleasant that includes gym and swimming pool staff. Monica cullen.

Not great. Poor breakfast. The cooked breakfast was a buffet and was cold and soggy. The pastries were unrecognisable and inedible. Left waiting with small children for breakfast as everyone chatting inside and we had to call them. Not enough towels. The receptionist was very welcoming and gave a great impression. Money was mentioned in every discussion and it took the good out of it - we know we have to pay at a hotel. Very far walk to rooms for small children. No way to secure the door so impossible to keep children in the room as the door opened out to a fire escape.

Lisa scored 3 / 5 on 06/07/2021

Stayed here for 5 nights with my 2 children recently. While the hotel could do with some modernisation, the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. Both of us really enjoyed our stay with you. We found all the staff so helpful and friendly and always ready to oblige. Our experience was very very positive. We actually stayed here on many occasions & also popped in for lunch and/snacks whenever we passed by through Ennis. As we are both gluten-free & dairy free, egg-free and bacon-free it left little to choose from for breakfast but when we asked for extra of what we were able to eat we were delighted to be responded to with generosity & understanding which was so pleasant. For people like us who book in a suggestion might be to have some gluten-free porridge available for those who are gluten-free & maybe some mushrooms//peppers included for breakfast. (When booking in there is a space that asks to mention any preferences but that sometimes gets over looked) Apart from that we have been very happy with our stay. Our room was very clean and we enjoyed a wonderful sleep and stay here. Thank you so much & we look forward to returning again soon! Catherine

Friendly staff. Kids had great fun in pool. No changing facilities at the pool. That was kept for leisure club members. Breakfast was a big let down. Had to ask for poached eggs three times one morning and when they finally came out they were hard. The guy at the buffet said the chef was new. You would not get the full Irish because they had trouble keeping the hot plate full. Let down for the kids to. The pancake maker broke. Poor selection of cereals. Over all breakfast poor.

This hotel is well located on the edge of Ennis town on the Galway Rd. There is a Lidl Supermarket next door which was convenient. The room was comfortable with everything you need, tea facilities good TV, comfortable bed. The decor is a bit dated the pool was great. The breakfast was basic but ok but the evening meal of Roast Beef was awful, tired beef lumpy potatoes raw veg and tastleless gravy. That was the only complaint as such, It was a great value break with the sale price so very satisfied. The young staff were doing their best but the older bar staff were not people/customer aware..All in all would stay again but not my first choice for Ennis

The hotel is very dated and tired looking, some areas need to be refurbished and painted, some of the staff are very young and while they are keen they will need a lot of training, the way the covid is at present there was no atmosphere about the place, so hopefully when the country opens up more this might improve.

Teresa scored 3 / 5 on 21/06/2021

I suppose you get what you pay for. It has potential to be a great hotel, it is a fine size and the staff are lovely. The food was very good. The general upkeep left it down. It could do with a bit of tic. New carpets and a bit of paint would make a lot of difference.

Johnathan scored 2 / 5 on 21/06/2021

Hotel very run down dirty same piece of brown bread on the floor in the dining room from Tuesday to Friday staff disinterested a lot of covid issues cloth chairs in the bar so impossible to be cleaned food was just ok tables in dining room were a disgrace scratches dirty etc no point complaining as the staff couldn’t care less this was a present and our first time in Clare thank god for the great places to visit ????

Checking was fast and easy, room and bathroom was clean and tidy, and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning. We had a deal so it was excellent value for our money. Thank you.

Derek scored 3 / 5 on 28/09/2020

We have stayed at the Auburn lodge a number of times. This time was great apart from the lack of Covid restrictions in the bar in the evening, people not wearing masks moving around, lack of signage, one of the manager’s wearing a mask under his nose. Also, people were going to the bar, not being told to stay seated and the bar staff did not seem to be cleaning their hands regular, lack of hand sanitiser in the bar also. All of this was a but unnerving. Breakfast on the other hand was very well organised, that seemed to be solely down to the lovely lady who was in charge that morning.

Very warm welcome from reception area great staff during breakfast and dinner excellent service overall

Elaine scored 2 / 5 on 26/09/2020

Hi when we arrived at the hotel the receptionist was very friendly and helpful, however as we walked to our room I felt like I was walking through an outdated nursing home. The carpets were old and green The kids were free but the room was only a double room with 2 single beds stuck in to it. The food was lovely and all the staff were lovely and very friendly. If it wasn't for the staff I would have left. They are a credit to the hotel. I wouldn't recommend it for a family. Regards Elaine

Bit old style but omg the staff in every department where amazing they couldn't do enough for us we stayed room 226 on ground floor near every thing as husband disabled had our meals in bar and food and choice where divine

The staff were relatively friendly, breakfast was ok but you could be waiting a while for milk or extra toast. Selection was ok not the best I’ve had. There was hair on the bathroom wall on arrival. I didn’t bother to mention it to the staff. Rooms and the hotel I’m general were in need of refurbishment.

Stayed for three night weekend. Hotel in quiet location on outskirts of town , a short taxi ride into town, if you don't want to drive . Staff at hotel were very helpful , especially reception staff , nothing was a problem to them .They were also chatty and pleasant when approached. Hotel was very clean in all areas. We had to wait for our room when we arrived , but when we got the room it had a strong smell of bleach , reassuring in this covid era .Clean towels wwere provided every day without request . Food was ok , but menu was same in both bar area and restaurant .Covid regulations were strictly adhered to with regard to social distancing. There seemed to be a staffing issue in the restaurant, especially on Sunday night , when there were long waits for tables and food .My food was cold on another night , and when I complained there was no comeback .The waitress in question left a lot to be desired . I decided before travelling not to use the pool, or facilities owing to covid , so I can't comment on that .aspect of the hotel . There is a lack of communal areas in the hotel , such as a nice bright lobby with comforable chairs .There is a small garden to the rear , but God would somebody fork out for a few tins of paint for the furniture .The paint was peeling off it , and it wasn't even clean .There was also quite a flood on one part of it , but it had rained heavily. Overall ; if you're looking for 5 star service , go to a five star hotel . Top marks to reception staff . Place needs a lick of paint , and someone to keep the restaurant flowing smoothly.

We really found our stay in Auburn Lodge very enjoyable. We stayed for 5 nights in late July in 2020. The staff were excellent. Everyone did their best to make our stay as enjoyable and safe as possible. Our room was spotlessly clean. We found dinner in the restaurant very pleasant. We would definitely recommend it. Great value. We hope to return also. Stay safe everyone and enjoy Ireland.

Food lovely and staff very helpful. However found hotel itself old and outdated and felt our room smelt of damp. Hotel needs refurbishing

Natasha scored 3 / 5 on 09/08/2020

The hotel was very dated. Room was tiny for 2a +2c and the beds were so small and uncomfortable. My husband and I could barely fit in the double so I slept in the spare single (more like a toddler bed to be honest). There was only 1 pillow per person and these are definitely not hotel standard pillows. I had to request more the first evening as I am pregnant. We did not sleep comfortably for the two nights there in the beds. The staff were nice and polite but the service wasn't great at all, constantly having to ask 3 or 4 times for things and with Covid guidelines we were at the mercy of not being able to get things ourselves instead of waiting. We were delighted there was a pool there but when we arrived we were told we needed to prebook which was fine except when we rang as soon as we got to our room, they had no spots left until 2 days later, we had to book in the morning of check out. We ended up going to the local swimming pool as we had promised the kids swimming. If I had to stay here any longer than the 2 nights, I probably would have checked out earlier. Again staff were nice etc but the hotel is in need of a major overhaul and the service needs to be improved. I would not recommend this hotel nor stay there again myself.

Hotel was very nice, I really liked the layout and old style of it. Staff at the desk were extremely friendly. However the room we had (family room) was extremely warm. None of the family got sleep because of the heat. We were given fans which unfortunately just spread the hot air. Restaurant staff also forgot drink requests for my daughter's twice, special requests for my wife's meal were also forgotten, my daughter was given the wrong meal and my wife's drink order was wrong too.Tea/coffee/toast at the breakfast service was also forgotten both mornings so we had finished our food by the time our tea/coffee arrived. Overall friendly staff, nice place but I would not return and absolutely not for food.

Adam scored 3 / 5 on 02/08/2020

Great price for 3 night B&B and 1dinner. The staff are friendly and polite. There doesn't seem to be any fluency between the different hotel areas which did lead to a lot of confusion, delays in service in the bar and restaurant. The pool was fab, the free weight gym area shouldn't be open to anyone in it's current state which was noted to management. There are areas of the decor which need modernizing and freshening up. Alot of new staff, which in time once they are familiar with proceedure will improve the fluent running of the hotel. I wish them well and I hope they make some positive changes which the hotel & staff deserve.

The hotel is quite dated and the rooms are small. It was a tight squeeze in the family room for 4 people. Breakfast was just okay and the dinner, not great. Really didn't like the small portion of vegetables, strange sauce ruined them. Mix up with bill and forgot some desserts... won't be in a hurry to go back.

The swimming pool facilities were not working on the week of our arrival through no fault of there own. But they more than made up for it with entertainment for our children. Highly recommended.

The only reason I am writing this review is that I was really impressed with the genuine warm and charming welcome and treatment from all the staff. From reception to bar and waiting staff and the pool/gym staff they were all so nice and friendly and helpful I was really surprised. I will be back to the Auburn lodge for this reason and would reccommend to a friend or family.

The hotel was pleasant and clean though the decor was a bit dated. The swimming pool was well presented but the pool itself was shallow and small. The jacuzzi was perfect and having a children's pool was a God sent. The breakfast was scrumptious except for the coffee that was absolutely horrible. All in all, we would recommend the hotel. The proximity of Ennis and the Cliffs of Moher was great. It was easy to get to Limerick yet we felt we had the best of both world with being in the countryside.

We stayed for the Patrick's Weekend and we were greatfull for the leisure facilities as it rained all weekend and couldn't get out. The hotel is clean tho' stuck in the 80's with the decor with a strange layout. There is no lift in this hotel so make sure to ask for a groundfloor room if you're not good on stairs. The food was lovely but if you like a medium rare steak ask for a medium to well done as we were given rare to blue and had to send it back. The Staff are very nice and friendly. The big problem we had was we were in a room beside a couple that were fighting...for hours. The walls are so thin it was if they were in the room with us, we could hear every word. The hotel phones were not working and the reception was a bit of a hike away.We didn't want to knock on their door as the man was drunk and verbally abusive as it was. They stopped eventually when a man from another room started banging on their door about 3.30am asking them to stop.

Information incorrect on website about children's hours in the pool. When we arrived at 6.30pm we asked where the pool was and we were told that the pool was closed to children at 7pm. I had already checked this out before travelling and it says 8pm on the website. When I told the receptionist this she told me that it does not. I rechecked when I got to the room and it did say 8pm. We went for our evening meal (included) in the restaurant. We weren't offered a wine list or asked if we wanted drinks. That was ok as we weren't too bothered and yes we could have asked ourselves. The food was not great at all. Presentation was fine but I had the chicken and it was dry as a bone. My husband had salmon and it was overcooked too. We were given a password for WiFi but the WiFi didn't work. Faulty wire in bedside lamp and a socket that you couldn't plug anything into. Old style telly. Mattresses could do with updating. I did mention all to the receptionist the next morning and she checked the website for the time of the swimming and could see that it said 8pm and apologised and said she would get it changed. Overall, glad we were only there one night.

Excellent and relaxing two night stay. We ate in the Restaurant both nights and enjoyed all the food. Whilst the choice of wine is limited we were very pleased with our chosen wines and found them compatibly priced and in fact cheaper than most restaurants we have used. It is slightly out of town but plenty of parking in Ennis, reasonably priced. The staff were also very pleasant. Would have not hesitation in coming here again.

Very enjoyable family break, only ate breakfast in the hotel but it was a very nice buffet & the staff were very nice. Used pool twice, again fine facilities & very nice staff. Our room was very comfortable and clean an on ground floor which was handy as we had buggy & I don't think there's a lift.

On arrival the lady at reception, Helena I think is her name, was very welcoming and friendly. She even offered us an upgrade on our stay which was fantastic. The room was lovely very comfortable, clean and tidy. We also visited the Spa where we had massage treatments which were very relaxing and the staff really friendly to talk to. Our meals, dinner and breakfast were both lovely, but I found the service a little disappointing. On arrival at the restaurant we were told they had no table booked for us which we had booked earlier at reception. Thankfully this was resolved as our stay included a meal. We were asked while ordering our food would we like drinks but I had to ask for a wine menu. We were also asked if we would like to wait a few minutes for our main following our starter by one of the servers but were then served anyway by someone else. The following morning for breakfast again they were busy and had no table so the lady asked us to wait in the lobby. During our wait I saw several guests coming and going and the lady never came to inform us there were tables. My partner had to go back up and ask had something come available. Overall a lovely hotel and visit, just slightly disappointed with the service on a couple of occasions.

The hotel in general was OK and the staff were pleasant apart from the manager who couldn't be bothered to greet you even when you greeted him first. We had booked two nights and a meal with ours but the menu was very limited, Our main course was so poor that we sent it back twice and in the end we gave up and bought crisps from the bar. The cutlery on our table was dirty with residue and the plates in the breakfast room in the morning were dirty too. You had to sort through a few to find a clean one.The rooms were OK but we had an upgrade which I was glad of because it nothing to write home about. The Spa was ok just a bit small, so you need to select the best time of the day to go as it can be busy. We went here for a special occasion and we went into the town for that meal on the first night, if we had gone to the hotel restaurant that night we would have not stayed, we would have gone home. We checked out with the happy manager and he couldn't be bothered to ask us if we enjoyed our stay, I asked him if everything was in order and he said "yes, goodbye". At least he said something I suppose? We were very disappointed overall and would not return again.

We stayed the last weekend in August on a 2 night package which included breakfast and dinner. We found the staff in all areas very friendly and professional. We loved the idea of eating dinner in the bar or restaurant. We have to say the bar food would be our first choice good menu with a choice for all. This hotel is a great base for travelling around.

Beautiful stay, room was lovley food was great restruant and hotel staff were fantastic. We found that on our first night the pool attendent was a bit OTT and unfriendly in approach. coming out to the pool area every couple of minutes to stop the kids jumping in the kiddies pool or splasing arond or not using the steps to get in or out. A bit OTT as there was a 6 year old and a 2 year old and both parents in the water looking after them and no one else in the kiddies pool.

The staff are what stood out most during our stay at the Auburn Lodge, each and every one of them were pleasant, friendly and helpful. The food was good and the service was amazing. The hotel itself needs modernisation but was spotlessly clean. Its a little outside Ennis town but walkable in about 20 minutes. The leisure centre looked pretty new and again was really clean with great staff. Good value for money, would definitely stay again, thanks for all.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights in June 2015. The booking was made on the morning of our arrival. We arrived at 2 o'clock and the check-in was handled efficiently (although one of the door cards didn't work subsequently) and the room was ready for occupation. The room was clean (although we had to walk 140 yards within the building itself from the reception to the room - it helped eliminate some of the calories from the breakfasts) but the room was not overly warm particularly as the weather was not Junelike. The package included one evening meal and this was served in the bar. The menu choice was very good and the food itself was also very good (although there was a delay in having the order processed). The breakfast was very good and again it had a good selection of food. We did not use the Leisure Centre.

my wife and i stayed here for a 2 night stay at easter and found the reception staff very friendly and helpful.the bar staff were most efficient and pleasent. however the restaurant staff were a completely different story , we were booked in on a 2 night b&b package which also included a 2 course dinner on both nights , we were questioned constantly about what dinner package we had and made to feel as though we were getting something we were not entitled to , this was all played out in front of other paying guests , most embarrassing . if you wish to stay in a relatively comfortable hotel and enjoy a quiet drink but do not wish to dine in the restaurant then its adequate . i know we will never cross the threshold again.

Hotel was warm and the room, a I had requested, was a recently refurbished one-big comfortable bed, nice bathroom and we had everything we needed, tea and coffee making facilities etc. We had hoped to use the leisure centre but didn't get around to it. The clientele in general were older in the hotel, but this didn't matter. The staff were friendly and helpful esp the breakfast staff who were most attentive. The hotel décor in general is a little tired and dated but all in all we had a pleasant stay.

Food was nice. The rooms were horrible and we were literally put right at the back of the hotel. There was a horrible smell in our room when we first went in and when my 3 year old opened the wardrobe there was 2 empty boxes of Jameson and an empty box of sex toys in there. So the rooms weren't cleaned properly at all. The swimming pool was lovely and warm but the changing rooms were dirty. In fact, when I checked out I felt like we all needed a good scrub after staying there. Would never go back.

A very dated hotel. Decor seriously needs some updating. Leisure centre excellent but no toys in the pool or the hotel for children. Not a family friendly hotel. More suited to older people. Staff friendly and helpfull. Food was lively and very generous portions. Location is excellent for touring around the counties and loads to see on Clare. But if I went again I'd stay somewhere else.

My husband said the bed was one of the most comfortable he had been in, had a great sleep! Loved the spacious double room as were given. Food was grand, only disappointment was the tea/coffee wasn't offered after dinner ( and I didn't like to ask). Great to have playroom always open for toddlers use. Excellent supervision at the pool. The bar was wonderful with free entertainment provided. We had a wonderful dinner on the evening we arrived. My husband asked if he could get plain chicken instead of chicken curry and it was no problem. By far the nicest hotel I ever stayed in

Stayed here over the week end. Staff were all very friendly and helpful....I asked for an iron and it was delivered within minutes as was the fan that I also requested. Room was clean and comfortable although the only gripe I had was the distance from reception, restaurants and bar to the bedroom. it was a long hike! Food in both the bar and restaurant was lovely and was served quickly. I was a little disappointed in the breakfast offered...no fried egg, beans or mushrooms. Entertainment on both nights in bar.

I stayed at the Auburn Lodge last weekend with some friends and cannot say I would return there. The location of the hotel was outside the town but this did'nt matter as it gave us a nice walk into town. I have stayed in many hotels around Ireland on Lidl breaks, on Saturday night we asked for Cappucino coffees on finishing our meal about 9pm and were informed the machine had been cleaned for the night and none was available, I found this hard to believe being a hotel with a bar where I would expect people driving to perhaps order coffee, also the desserts on offer were not memorable. All in all I was disappointed with my visit. KH

Family scored 2 / 5 on 08/04/2014

For a 3 star hotel there are of course certain things I don't expect. But saying that I expect my cups in the bedroom to be clean, not stuck to the plate with left over coffee. I expect hot water when I wake up in the morning in my room - not to have to wait over an hour on a maintenance man and my only option being told to go to leisure centre. Hotel pool closes to kids at 6.30 in the evening which is much to early - we spent the day out and were looking forward to going to the pool when we returned. And when we did get in - 2 lanes closed for swimmers and lessons going on as well didnt leave much room for anyone else. And yes - canned fruit for breakfast, not really appealing. How you were treated with extra asks seemed to depend on the staff member - my porridge brought happily on the first morning but waiter not so pleasant about having been asked on morning number 2.

Olivia scored 2 / 5 on 01/04/2014

I didn't find the hotel to be all that clean. my 1year old found a false nail under one of the beds and very nearly put it in her mouth. The travel cot provided, didnt have a mattress and only realised it the following morning, iyt was just the base, the part you use when folding up the cot. Which explained why my 1yr old didnt sleep very well and actually spent most of the night in bed between myself and my husband. Food was ok enough. Pool was only open to children from 10am, and turned out swimming lessons were on (saturday morning), so access was to a small section of the pool, disappointing. I won't be going back!

We stayed in the hotel over the St Patricks weekend with our two kids. Our first impression was disappointing as the hotel decor is quite dated. However, it didn't impact on our stay. Our room was clean and the kids beds were better than other hotels we stayed in. We had a 2 course dinner in our package and the food was good. Only criticism was that we'd prefer the sauce and gravy on the side (The food was swimming in the gravy). Breakfast was good and I can't believe some of the other reviews about it. We got both tea and coffee pots and plenty of toast. I even asked for a second basket. The kids loved the hotel. The swimming pool was a nice bonus. Entertainment in the bar was disappointing for the St Patricks weekend though. All in all a very enjoyable break and we'd come back on a similar deal. PS Staff were very nice and helpful. Liam

Nice friendly staff. Rooms very basic but clean enough. Unfortunately, the decor is very dated and badly in need of a make over. We spent St Patricks weekend there and the entertainment in the bar left a lot to be desired. Bar food was not great ( I had some dodgey prawns) Breakfast was delicious though and the swimming pool saved the weekend for us as two children loved it. Unfortunately we will not be returning. The hotel is quite old and while cleanish not to a very high standard. Things like cracks in tiles in the bathroom and the bathroom sink are things which I feel should and need to be addressed by the hotel. The staff who looked after us were very friendly and the meal service that evening was very nice. The same I cannot say for the breakfast in all my years staying in a hotel the breakfast was a disgrace. We arrived for breakfast the next morning I like to have fresh fruit with yoghurt (low fat). The fruit consisted of canned pears and prunes (only) the yoghurt was in big bowls with no lids on top very unhygienic needless to say I had none. We asked for tea and coffee any hotel I have ever stayed in would give you a pot of each we received a small cup of cold tea and cold coffee. We asked for toast and were give white bread toast no offer of any healthy brown bread and two slices only when there was two of us. I asked for pouched eggs the girl went to get them and I am not joking within 30 seconds the eggs were in front of me. They were not pouched and they were cold. I could not eat them as I am allergic to some oils and could not take any risk eating them as I believe they were fried. I asked for beans 3 times eventually them came out and guess what freezing like they came straight from the tin. The breakfast was disgraceful I have to say I will not be staying in the hotel again. Oh yes we had to ask for plates as there was none for anyone wishing to have breakfast from the buffet.

A country hotel used by country people when they come to the city or have a local occasion. The interieur is rather oldish but everything is clean and personnel is friendly and helpful. The hotel is good for a stay in Ennis - I would not go there just for the hotel though but if I had to stay in Ennis overnight again I would go back here. The location is quiet and at the outskirts of the town. A bit too far to walk to the city centre, especially in the rain. Food was surprisingly nice in the restaurant. The bar only had carvery (even in the evening). But I think this is all the locals want.

We stayed in a family room for 2 nights in August. The room was very small compared to other family rooms we have stayed in. The carpet was very dirty and the window could have done with a clean. I was disgusted when I saw mould and mildew on the frame of the window. We all felt it was stuffy in the room and also the window didn't open out fully. The room was very dusty and looked like it had not been properly cleaned in a while. We felt the staff were not very friendly and welcoming especially at reception, no smile on arrival or departure. The breakfast was nice, can't really fault with the selection of food available. Overall the hotel needs a revamp, the reception is a little outdated and needs brightening up. I could not recommend this hotel to a friend and I will not be returning there in the future.

We stayed at the Auburn lodge and leisure centre for 4 nights this July and had a great holiday. The breakfast was tasty and staff friendly. Overall we felt we got very good value on our holiday.

On arrival we had to navigate the vomit outside the entrance. Constant noise at night which appeared to come from the plumbing for the leisure centre. More seriously, we observed every day, and evening, that some fire doors were propped open, sometimes by fire extinguishers. This occurred all over the hotel, as we observed when going from our rooms (512, 513) to reception. Mary R Ford

I have to start off by saying that the staff were lovely, particularly the girls on checkin. Breakfast was only ok. Cereal, limited fruit and hot breakfast was available. I was a little disappointed with the rooms. We were on the ground floor of which is obviously quite an old hotel. The reception area is lovely but the rooms are so dated. There were black bags left around the corridor on the way to our hoteo room. The grout on the tiles in the bathrooms are covered in mould. The curtains were extremely dusty and the carpets could do with a wash. Its a pity because a little TLC and this could be a lovely hotel. Hotel is severly let down by its upkeep. Unfortunatly i would not be in hurry to stay there again.

Very comfortable spacious room - quiet pleasant surroundings but hotel starting to feel it's age inside. 3* Staff excellent in lobby, restaurant and leisure centre. Also cleaning staff were helpful and accommodating. 4* Breakfast was self-service buffet which is always bad, not helped by poor quality of ingredients. The dinner we had was enjoyable and very plentiful. 3* The bar was excellent with live traditional music on the Friday night. 4* This hotel gets the important things right and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt it was tremendous value. I'll give it 4/5 overall.

We stayed in the Auburn Lodge hotel during a very busy weekend in May. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was good (specially the chicken curry!) We were in a family room and needed an extra fold-out bed as we had 3 kids - the fold-out bed was quite sagging in the middle, but did the job. The room was a small bit cramped, but we spent very little time in it so that didn't really matter. It was a very long winding walk to the room from reception, so we had a bit of exercise built in to our stay!! The only issue we had was the shower was not hot enough. Overall we were happy and would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Auburn Lodge Hotel. The staff were very friendly and the food was to a good standard. However the rooms were tired looking and badly in need of refurbishment which was disappointing

I would recommend it for people not bringing kids, just going to see the attractions. Found the staff to be really friendly and helpful, location was great for the local attractions ie Cliffs of Moher and Aillwee Caves. Food in restaurant was fantastic and the waiting staff well I couldn't say enough, made sure the children where not waiting for their meals, had a bit of banter with them, really a delight to see staff so friendly. Rooms where dated but comfortable. Found they didn't cater much for children - Family room consists of 2 single 1 double bed, children had nothing to do inside Hotel .. no kids TV channels and the play room wasn't up to much a few colours and pages and a few dated toys.

We had a lovely stay in The Auburn Lodge for the new year. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We went to banquet on New Years Eve and we had a great time the food, the Casino and dancing was excellent. I would recommend this hotel for a nice break.

Nice, comfortable hotel. Swimming pool and jacuzzi good. Kids loved the Barney Play Centre that we got passes to. Our room on the first night was very noisy so we were changed on the second night. They gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for the inconvenience which was unexpected and lovely!

Hotel stay was pleasant. The Dining area and food were great. Although the portions were massive and I felt that it was somewhat wasteful to send out such huge portions. The leisure centre, foyer etc all looked cosy. The bedroom was dated but clean with everything in working order. The only negative thing was that the hotel was cold and I couldnt really relax in the lounge area because of this. The bedroom was even colder but When i told staff they put on the heating straight away and that was fine Only some of the radiators were on throughout the hotel. This to me is a big thing a warm hotle is alot more inviting than a cold one. The staff very friendly and helpful

We enjoyed our stay in the Auburn Lodge. Highlights were the friendly staff, tasty food and nice, clean, modern swimming pool. Slight downsides were the room was very small and hot, in bad need of a lick of paint and all the surfaces were dusty and could have done with a thorough cleaning and some new furniture. The room was on the ground floor and window opened on to the car park, so we couldn leave it open for the room to air during the day. We were also conscious that all our belongings were visible from the car park, and the safe in the room didnt work, so we ended up bringing our valuables everywhere we went, which was a minor nuisance. The main areas of the hotel were much better maintained. We ate in the oyster restaurant twice and enjoyed the food which came in unbelieveably huge quantities. Service was friendly but took ages to clear tables. On the first night we ate dessert with the vegetables from the main course still on the table. Still, on the whole this was good value and enjoyable. We would consider staying again, just slightly put off by the size and condition of the room.

The Aibirm Lodge Hotel is in need of updating, the plaster on the walls in the bedroom was peeling in places and the tiles around the bath had been recently replaced but the grout was not cleaned off them! The staff were extremely helpfull both on receiption and in the restaurant however the bar could do with extra staff as service was very slow most of the time due to the lack of staff working. While our stay was pleasant, I would not recommend the hotel for a stay but definately for dinner in the restaurant.

Richard scored 1 / 5 on 28/05/2012

An absolutley appalling stay - food poor bar service poor. A disco held in the hotel was badly managed we moved our own cars as we saw the car park fill up with drunken youths - no advice from the hotel on where we had parked might not be safe. Our rooms backed onto the disco - not great for a family. At throwing out time we were woken by a couple trying to fornicate on our windowsill, a fight in the car park followed, football chants with bad language were sung for a good while. i wish i could mark it a minus!

Ufcbaby scored 2 / 5 on 22/05/2012

Staff top notch to be honest , rooms could do with being updated but rooms were kept clean . Not much for children to be honest giving the area were hotel is a pull for familys is to have something for the kids to do kids club etc . Outside play ground is badly needed and to update the games/play room. Leisure centre is fine .Food could do with going Back to a basic menu and bang out the flavours from that menu .Carvery food/menu had a better range of flavours and food compared to the restaurant . Would go back if above was updated for kids as it is a good base for travelling.

Just spent the May bank holiday weekend in the Auburn. Two Adults and Two Children. We had a fantastic time, ALL the staff were brilliant there and the Food was excellent. We loved the Pool and Jacuzzi. The Only drawback is (and its a very small thing), the bathroooms are a bit dated, but our room was spotless. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND A STAY AT THE AUBURN LODGE - IT WAS EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY, AND WE WOULD DEFINATELY GO BACK AGAIN.

Susie scored 2 / 5 on 09/05/2012

Hotel a bit dated and a bit run down. Could do with a cash injection to bring it up to date. Walls a bit bare, lamps and lights not working, bed a bit springy, carpets a bit worn, internet station out of order, sauna out of order, Having said that it was clean, the breakfast was good and the staff were always pleasant

Nice Hotel, Warm friendly staff, rooms would benefit from a refresh but were clean, warm and comfortable. Family rooms great value for money, didnt get time to check out the pool but the playroom was a little disappointing but at least an alternative to having children in bar or foyer. Would stay there again. Family of 7

Was quite disappointed with the room and particularly the bathroom in the Auburn Lodge Hotel. While the foyer, bar and restaurant are all fine, the rooms could do with some serious updating. The bathroom in particular was not quite up to standard, the bath mat which was hung over the bath was filthy and obviously had never been cleaned. There was also a shower curtain in the bath, which is not very hygenic. Would not stay here again.

My wife and I were very happy with our stay at the Auburn Lodge, ideally located, friendly staff, and a satisfactofy leisure centre. A few minor problems with the room in relation to the fixtures and fittings but nothing to worry about. overall an enjoyable experience.

Alan scored 3 / 5 on 08/02/2012

We found the family room at the hotel very tired and dated, almost neglected. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful but the serving staff in the bar left a lot to be desired. They were never on hand to serve the customers. The swimming area was clean but the changing rooms were cold especially for young kids. The location of the hotel is good for drivers using the hotel as a base but for those who want to visit Ennis, it's a taxi journey to Ennis town centre.

My family and I stayed at the Auburn Lodge Hotel in November for one night. We found a very friendly welcome when we arrived and the family room was quite small but clean and comfortable. We ate that evening in the bar and found the staff extremely efficient and friendly. The food was great and very good value, we enjoyed it immensely. The atmosphere in the bar was very comfortable and warm. We ate breakfast the next morning and found it very tasty and the staff were again very efficient and friendly. Overall we thought the hotel accomodation was quite basic, however the warm atmosphere and the friendly staff made up for that. I would recommend it.

Very comfortable, clean and cosy hotel. Staff very obliging; food very good. Could do with a 'touch up' of doors along corridors and, all in all, a very pleasant stay.

Bridget scored 3 / 5 on 04/09/2011

Food was lovely but could do with a bit more choice for breakfast. Got a terrible room when we arrived it was dirty looking it was in old part of hotel. They advised me these rooms were there family rooms as i had two infants. Went to reception for the second time and asked to be moved to another room and we were then moved to a lovely clean room. Final point to make pool was very cold for infants. Regards Bridget

Our one night stay in Auburn Locge Hotel was good, location was perfect for what we wanted. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was quite far away & we had to walk through several corridors, also no lifts The accomodation was very basic & we felt the room was a bit cold but it was clean. We stayed in family room which had a double and 2 singles. The pool was great for the kids. Overall we had a value weekend which is thanks to Lidl.

We have just returned from one night in the Auburn Lodge Hotel and I have to say that although the rooms and decor is quiet dated the hotel is very clean and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. When we arrived they did not have our booking but proceded to check us in without haste. Having worked for an internet hotel booking company I knew this meant that there would be problems at check out which there were when they requested %u20AC100 from me. However I explained that I booked through Lidl and forwarded them the email and they charged me what was due. This didn't bother me as I'm familiar with the systems and knew it was easily rectified but I could see how other people would be very bothered by it. Overall it was great value for money and perfect for what we required, would return if we are ever passing through Ennis again.

We really enjoyed our Lidl weekend break in Ennis. The staff were very helpful and very pleasant at all times. When the newspapers were not available for me on the Saturday morning, a paper had been reserved for me on the Sunday morning without request.. The food was good and any extra request was pleasantly adhered to without question. The hotel itself is a little old fashioned and the room basic but at such good value, this was not an issue. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and have no complaints. I would give it a 4 star as we were not expecting it to be quite as far outside Ennis as it was and it could do with a little updating in its decor. Thank you.

Auburn Lodge, never again.Arrived at 5.30pm on St Patricks night.Given keys for 3 rooms which still had guests staying in them.Shockingly unprofessional. One word to describe this Hotel,"grubby".No way is it a three star, maybe one.We were booked for 3 nights and stayed for one, couldn't wait to leave. On the plus side we had a good night in Ennis itself in Brogans pub. Auburn hotel is a reasonable hotel and offers a great value for money break. They do need to train their staff about the terms of offers and to ensure they advise customers of changes. In our case the restaurant was closed and meals were served in the bar but neither reception staff or bar staff were clear on this. Leisure centre very nice and we enjoyed our stay

Hi, Lidi Breaks are very good value, but was dissapointed in the Aubran Hotel . Checked in and was not told anything about the facilites in the hotel had to ask about times for breakfast ,swimming, dinner times.Family room was very basic and small and the view was terrible dirty nappies outside the window.Had major problem with the bar drinks ,we order some drinks and had to return then twice was horrible. My husband left a hoodie on the seat and went for a cigarette when he came back it was gone 60 euro worth of a hoddie. Went to reception but were not helpful at all. Also had no tv all of sat nite.Wont be going back there again.

The room had all the neccessary facilities needed for a night's stay. Being a bargain break we were a bit apprehensive about the dinner but were pleasantly surprised....an excellent meal. Very friendly helpful staff. Overall this deal was fantastic value.

Kathy scored 5 / 5 on 15/07/2010

Tired hotel in serious need of some TLC. Room reasonably clean, dirty saucer, large safe not even secured on the wardrobe floor. Couldn't get it to work even with staff member coming to look at it. I worked it out after the barman left that the batteries were virtually dead preventing it from working. The remote control for the tv was having the same problem. Half the seating in the bar was small round tables & stools so unless you get into the bar at the right time it was very uncomfortable to eat a meal. Not many of the staff were friendly, they basically ignored you. Restaurant food (serving breakfast was very basic) although the bar food was good.
